Cate's Diary

Hi, Marsia. You'll get better at yoga as you practise it more. I hope I'm not too clumsy at Tai Chi on Tuesday. I'm really looking forward to it.
I feel a lot better for consuming fermented things, but don't obsess over it. I find it very interesting though. I'm enjoying doing IF & read my 5:2 book a lot. I have even highlighted sections of it. It helps when I'm doing my 500 calorie fasts. I don't have any unread books at the moment so am looking forward to picking them up. I'll make sure I select lots this time & take more time selecting them. The last lot I got was unreadable!
Liza- I think a healthy gut is very important too. I do try to have a healthy balance with what I eat & always make sure I eat Greek yoghurt. I also take a probiotic, just in case. The rhubarb crumble is delicious.
LaMa- my apologies to Dr Clare Bailey. I'm so used to watching Michael Mosley shows on TV & reading his books. I only had a skim read of the article.
Em- It was a lovely surprise. A bit of serendipity :)

I won't be around in the morning & will check the forum when I get home tomorrow afternoon.

When it comes to healthy gut - here in central Europe we have sauerkraut - it's a fermented cabbage and it do miracles for intestines!
It's cheap and very popular in winter when there is no other veggies, it can be bought anywhere.

Also yoghurt and kefir are amazing for that purpose as well. I especially love taste of kefir.

That was a good link on the healthy gut some things I could implement .

I like anything pickled hope it’s all good for the gut.
Cate hope you having a good weekend

Sun 8 am'ish. Good morning, Petal, LaMa & Liza.
I am having a bit of a cranky weekend, I just realised. I just got snappy with G (under my breath luckily).
I had a very rough night's sleep last night for some reason & don't feel great this morning. I'll be heading to golf in about an hour.
BF- 2 eggs & avocado on oat toast. I'm taking 2 small bananas as a snack.

Putting myself into a good mood by listening to my liked music on Spotify on my car radio.
"One way or another, I'm going to get you, I'm going to getcha, getcha, getcha"
"Lazy Sunday afternoon" just came on :)

Ha! I just said "lazy Sunday morning" to P - it's a gorgeous feeling to have nothing pressing to do. (Well, I could catch up on... and... oh, dear - I shouldn't have started this train of thought!

Your breakfast sounds delicious - and cheers for two small real bananas. :hurray: I have some here, and will eat two before the day's out, in solidarity! :D

Nice job cheering yourself with music. Isn't it amazing how music can really switch our moods

Hope the golfing went well and your day continued on a happier note :)

Cate I’m obsessed with music, it can really cheer you up and lift your spirits!!! I love Blondie and that song too!! She has brilliant songs! I’ve so many fave ones!! Heart of Glass is prob my fave from her, have a fab day! :)

Hope your day cheers up Cate! I absolutely agree with you about fermented food. I feel like it helps my digestion a lot. Been a couple days since I checked in, but it seems like you've had some fun golfing and a good fast day in that time. I really admire the balance you seem to maintain in your life.

Cate big hugs on the bad night sleeps as I had one too . And totally love you cheered up with music . Spotify is great . hope the golf went well .

Music is a great tonic :beating: I hope you're enjoying your game.
It sure is. We really enjoyed our day thanks, LaMa.

Our Sundays are usually lazy too, Amy, so getting in a game of golf is a winner. I only ate one banana while I played as I wasn't hungry. It was a big walk yesterday. I did 15,000 steps all up. It's a long course.

Thanks, Liza. Music is good medicine. We both sang along in the car & it worked wonders. It was a really lovely, sociable game.

Kate- Music is so good! I have a great mix on my Spotify at the moment. I must do some more playlists though as I also have lots of blues.

Hi, Cory. My day got better & better. Thank you. I try to maintain a balance in my life. Overall I have a great life & am happy.
I love listening to the various music that shows up on my Pandora feed. A good song is tonic for the soul. Agree with you guys on Blondie, loved her.
Blondie's music is great fun.
We all have our moments of being grumps, haha. Enjoy the golf.
We wouldn't be human if we didn't get grumpy sometimes, Em. I don't like myself when I get grumpy though. I'm glad I snapped myself out of it. Golf was good fun.

Thank you, Petal. I had a great night's sleep last night. 15000 steps will do that. I think I slept for 9 hours. G & I actually were the visitors' runners up & only lost on a countback. They had as down as clear winners overall, but we knew that the score they had us down for was wrong so went & corrected them. We are both so honest. We got a lovely prize for RU- a lovely pot plant, a $20 voucher for a hardware store, another for a major chain of stores, some Tasmanian spice mix, a Tas whisky/chilli sauce & a Tas Balsamic/olive oil vinaigrette. It was a very generous prize, put on by their club captain, a young woman who plays off scratch. This club is another fine example of a club who treats women as equals.

We played with a couple we have played with before quite a few times & she & I get on really well. We also played with another pair, who are not a couple & really enjoyed their company. We had lots of laughs.
G has gone away for a couple of nights, playing golf with his "best buddies" & I just got a call from him saying to duck down to the highway as one of them had a present for me. It was an excellent 2020 golf calendar & a bag of fresh nectarines, from his garden. He is very thoughtful. I actually love G's golfing buddies at his new club. It & they have been very good for him.

I'm doing another FD today & have not eaten anything yet. I'm trying to stretch out the fast on days where I won't be doing much. I can't hide the fact that I am really disappointed at the lack of weight-loss so far. I haven't been overdoing the eating on NFDs & have stuck very close to 500 cals on my FDs. I am going to weigh myself again tomorrow, which will be the 18th of the month & then not get on the scales until the 18th of March. They absolutely do my head in.

I'll go for a nice, big walk later after I have eaten something. Tomorrow I am going to Tai Chi & coffee afterwards & then into my local town to pick up some fresh salad & fruit items ordered for my platter on Wed. Today will be a lovely day on my own, doing very little. I feel quite content.

Quick update. I decided to switch things around a bit on my FD & waited until the afternoon to eat & then had 50g beetroot & ginger sauerkraut, 200g blueberries, 150g watermelon & 15g beef jerky. I have drunk lots of water & still have some of the jerky left. I am going to now go for a walk. 138 cals so far at 3.40 pm.

I LOVE that song and those guys :)
The dance is so great!

Your day sounds awesome so far Cate. So healthy!! Scales can be frustrating when they're not showing us the numbers we want but you are doing so well and I'm sure it's got to show up on the scale at some point!

Is Tai chi something you go to every week? I used to like going to a weekly qi gong class. It's a good way to stay on track.
