Cate's Diary

Oh, so sorry, Cate. I hope you can stay in bed and rest up with lots of fluffy pillows and nice tea. Big, soft pillowy hugs!!!
Thanks, Marsia. Staying in bed is worse as I cough & cough, but today I am feeling a bit better. I didn't take any headache pills during the night. Yay! The headache has been the worst part I think :(
Urgh, that sounds horrible. I hope you can stay in bed/on the couch and just close your eyes until it goes away.
I sure haven't done much LaMa. I just had a big bowl of fruit salad with a couple of dollops of yoghurt for breakfast. That went down well. I am starting to improve, thank goodness. Having the GK's here was a good tonic, although I couldn't hug them or go near them.

Glad you're starting to feel a little better already. My grandmother treated everything her twelve kids got with sage. Not advocating that but sage tea does really help me when I cough or my throat is sore.

I have never tried sage tea, but will add some sage leaves to my tonight's honey & hot lemon drinks :)

I had some sage in my tea last night, LaMa. I quite liked the taste. I have never been a big fan of dried sage & don't much like the smell of it, but it did taste nice.
During the night, G reached over to hug me while I was asleep & got a shock as I was drenched with sweat. My upper body was saturated. It's funny because I didn't have a headache but obviously had a fever. I woke up later the same. I hope this means it's getting out of my system. It sure is a nasty bug. My cough is nasty & this morning I ended up with chest spasms. I'll ring the medical centre tomorrow if I'm no better.

Thanks, LaMa.
Thanks, Marsia.
:grouphug:
I was drenched again during the night. I am wheezing like crazy & my throat is still sore & I am very snotty. I don't know how G will cope if I get really sick one day. He keeps telling me how much better I am. I know it's wishful thinking on his part. He also says he is much better & then he sneezes & coughs & groans. He has had it for over 7 days now & me over 5. Asthma comes into play with me. I really want to be well before we go away!
I would rather see the doctor as I'm worried this is turning into a chest infection. I couldn't sleep for the noise of my breathing last night.
I just made an appointment for 1 pm.

Really glad you are going to the doctor, and am hoping you catch it before it turns into bronchitis or anything like that! Poor Cate, so sorry you are both so sick!! :grouphug:

Thanks, Tru. I will. I have to be 100% in 4 weeks time when we are off to Greece!
Thanks, Marsia. It really feels bronchial. I do feel so sorry for myself :( A bit pathetic really!

No, not at all. You get a free pass to feel sorry for yourself. Anyone would!!! Crossing fingers it clears up quickly and you are both back to your happy selves so you can enjoy packing and anticipating your amazing vacation!!!! Can't wait to hear all about it!!!!

Thanks, Marsia. The doctor (my old one) thought I had good reason to feel sorry for myself too. I have a very bad chest infection & she prescribed me a double dose (10 days) of an antibiotic (Rulide), plus 3 days of Cortisone (Prednisolone). We're back home again now & about to drink a pot of herbal tea. I'm so glad I went today. That's 3 days earlier that I can start to get better, rather than waiting until Friday.
Our older son was involved in a head-on crash this morning & both cars have been written off. I have no idea who was at fault & have not asked him, but the main thing is that both drivers are unhurt. I really worry about him driving. He is constantly on the road. He's also not a great driver.
On a funny note. After we had been to the doc & G was in the chemist getting my meds I went into the wholefood shop & picked up my oat bread & some hommus & wore my mask to protect T & any customers. I had to explain to her why I was wearing it today as I usually don't need to in there. She was very grateful.
I have no books to read. I have been reading a book a day & I'm a little bit tired of reading. I never thought I would say that. Tomorrow I will go for a walk.
PS. My old doctor was very kind & helpful today. G actually commented on it afterwards. Maybe seeing another doctor got her thinking or maybe she really felt sorry for me & was more solicitous. She actually seemed to care.

Good to hear your doctor took you more seriously this time and glad you´re getting the help you need! It must have been a shock to hear about your son´s accident!

It was a shock LaMa. At first, his text confused me. I thought he had just witnessed a head-on & then he sent photos of both cars :( Text messages can be so ambiguous.
I was surprised that the doctor took me seriously too. It's about time.

It is good that you are getting the medication you need now.

cars can be replaced, sons can not. Glad he is ok !

Your son is lucky! As we say in my country: "That's the little devil." My sister had a car accident several years ago and she had a life-saving operation. It was so scary and it took her years to recover fully...

Very lucky!
That must have been very frightening for all of you.
I think our older son is using up too many of his lives. He is not a cat. I wish he was a more careful driver, but don't say that to him. When our grandson says "but that's what Dad does" when he's driving I say "but Dad is a terrible driver". He really is. Our 19 year-old GS is a much better driver than his dad.

I'm so glad you went to the doc Cate!
Better to get started on the treatment sooner rather than later!

And such good news that your son and the other driver were unhurt!
So scary!
