Cate's Diary

Thank you, everyone. I really appreciate your kindness. I'm feeling a bit better this morning. I am able to eat dry toast now & so far this morning I haven't been to the toilet. I'll have a quiet day at home today & again tomorrow. I still have stomach cramps, but nowhere near as badly. I love that we have such friendly & supportive newbies. It adds even more to our comfortable environment. I'm too tired to attempt much still. I'm re-reading James Herriot's "Dog Stories" for probably the 6th time. That will be about the extent of my day. Lots of love to you all, xoxo Cate

I'm feeling heaps better tonight. Have not had diarrhoea at all today! Had to share this photo of our acrobatic lambs. They are so cute!

Thanks, LaMa & Liz (is that ok to call you that? I have a SIL Elizabeth & I call her Lize. Australians just don't seem to be able to help ourselves with names. If someone has a long name we shorten it. If it's a short name we lengthen it! )
The lambs are adorable!
I'm feeling much better today & am now going to feel bad about not going to R's bbq/live music party. I know that I shouldn't as I am probably still contagious, but I am his Mum & it's his birthday this week! :(
G & I will stay home today & just potter about. He played golf yesterday. I think another day's rest won't hurt. My stomach is still rumbling madly & I'm full of wind!
Tomorrow we'll go into town & do the stuff we were going to do on his birthday on Thursday. We'll skip the fancy lunch though. I am eating very plain food & not much of it.

Good to hear you´re feeling so much better. I´m sure your son understands and his other guests will be glad to not catch whatever you have as a souvenir :p

Sounds like you caught a stomach bug - I'm so sorry! They go around in the winter where I live and it's a truly awful 3-5 days of belly madness and bloat.

Thanks, LaMa & Jenni. My stomach has settled down. We went into town & it was only the smell of coffee that had my stomach churning. Much better!
I had a bowl of cereal with almond milk for breakfast, sushi for lunch & fresh Vietnamese spring rolls for dinner, followed by a small fruit platter( 1/2 an orange, 1/2 a kiwi fruit & some watermelon.
I'm going to turn this negative into a positive & continue to eat even more healthily. It's so good to feel better!

That's true - sometimes a flu can restart me mentally for eating better and less! Way to go on making lemonade from lemons! :)

Sometimes bad things really do have good consequences. Hope you´ll be able to keep it up!
So do I LaMa. I'm off to a good start anyway :)

Thanks, Jenni.
I'm back to normal I think. I'm going to buy some more GF cereal today. I had it again for breakfast this morning & found it delicious with stewed rhubarb. It usually takes me too long to select anything, but I'll just grab something. I am taking a soup with me for lunch & I think we'll have Vietnamese fresh spring rolls again for dinner.

Raw LaMa. We're having them again tonight. I'm still not 100% & am not going to attempt to play golf tomorrow.

I admit I prefer them fried, but... Still good stuff! Giving your body some time to recover sounds sensible. Being sick is hard work, even when you're sitting quite still on the toilet.

I probably do too LaMa, but I just don't eat them anymore. They are made from wheat & I steer clear of that & I try to eat as healthy as I can. Being sick is hard work. In fact, it's exhausting. Another day at home wouldn't hurt me at all.
You would think that I would have lost a little weight in the last week when you consider how many times I went to the toilet & how little I ate, but no- not one gram :( That is so disheartening!
Feel better soon, Cate!
Thank you, Jenni :)

~ I'm starting to wonder if the change to my BP medication was the cause of my weight gain & my inability to get it moving back down. I have an appointment to see my GP on the 5th of December & I will ask her & maybe go back to my old meds. It doesn't seem to matter what I do. I just had a look to see if I could get in earlier, but she seems to be booked out for at least a week, so I may as well leave it.

Assuming your guts are still swollen. Water instead of gut-filling, sounds like a fair trade. I can see that it sucks to be miserable and not even get a consolation prize but on the other hand getting rewarded for being unhealthy is rarely helpful in the long run.
I don´t know anything about drugs but if you think the change in BP meds is what´s making it so hard for you then talking about it with your GP sounds like an excellent idea. Have you checked the list of possible side-effects?
