Cate's Diary

It's Christmas morning here in Oz. I feel happy & content. R is still asleep, all I can hear are birds, the sun is shining, we are going to have our family around us later....G & I just had ham on the bone & eggs on oat sour dough toast with French seeded mustard. It's a slight variation on my childhood Xmas breakfast.
Happy festive season folks! Much love from Cate.

Spent the day with the littlies as D had to work (2.5 times his usual pay).
R has gone home & it's the 2 of us again. I absolutely love our family, but we both love our own quiet time. G did too much yesterday & knows it. He's ok, but there goes another one of life's learning experiences. Let's hope there will be many more.
Tomorrow is Vets golf day. G is going out with me & we may go back in the afternoon for me to do the bar. We'll play it by ear. If I don't go back C has to open the bar. He already does way too much. I am loving having a break from it all, while missing actually having a hit.
I feel that life is going to get better & better.
I will book our next holiday after we see the specialist.

Good going, Cate. You can´t save the world and you overdoing it at the golf club will probably mean C will do way do much somewhere else.

Save the world today? Nope.
Stayed at the golf club all day? Hmm...yep.
OMG- it is a shemozzle out there. We heard nothing but complaints about how the club is being run(?). :(
On a more weight-loss(or not) note- I weighed this morning & have gained a kilo in the last 2 weeks. I expected it. I'm going to start the New Year doing 5:2 until I lose 4kg. Then I'll continue until I lose another 3!
I hear a car coming so will skedaddle xoC

Thanks, Hana. Every single day G is getting better & better & life is feeling almost "normal" again. I am so much enjoying spending way less time doing things for the golf club. I am looking forward to playing golf again, though. The women are back next week & I plan on playing.
The weather is really unsettled here at the moment. C'mas day was really hot- so hot I wore a dress & thongs(flip-flops)! Since then it's been raining & has cooled off considerably. I don't mind really. I love Summer, but I don't like it when it gets over 30oC.
I don't talk about it often in here, but I am really allergic to most fragrance. I have been using Mitchum Unscented Rollon deodorant for years & years, without any problems. I opened up a new one this morning & it stinks like Mortein fly spray! I can't believe how putrid it is. I'm going to have to find something else & will contact Mitchum & complain. Unscented? HA!!! I have had to use my puffer, have a headache & am itching just from the limited exposure I had this morning. Bugger!
OK. I hate whingeing.
Bye for now, xo Cate

Hi Cate,

I am glad G is getting better. I use a Crystal antiperspirant. I am not sure if you can get it over there but here I get it at the supermarket. It is like a crystal rock and you wet it down and then apply it. Absolutely no scent at all as it is all natural. Feels funny to begin with as you are basically wetting down a stone and applying to your underarms but it really works. Not only that but the rock lasts me all year.

Hi, Cowboy. I used a Crystal this morning. It does feel weird, but I'll persevere with it. I had one in the cupboard & when I developed an allergy to G's deodorant he started using it. I had a small one & then was given one by my SIL, which he has been using for a couple of months. I'll definitely give it a go from now on.
Like you, I didn't over-indulge greatly over Christmas, but the little that I did has me feeling very uncomfortable. I'll be glad when I drop just one kilo!
We just went for a walk. G commented on how he has lost his fitness in just 3 weeks. We'll go for a walk each day to gradually build it back up. We got a call from a friend's daughter while we were out walking to let us know that he has had a massive heart attack & is in ICU. He smokes continuously so I'm not really surprised. He & G are co-captains of the Vets golf group & are quite close. G keeps thinking he should be ringing people to tell them, but I reminded him how he felt about his situation.
We just saw one of our neighbours & told him about G's cancer, op etc. We hadn't told many people.
Better go do some research on Sri Lanka :D

Ohhh so jealous of your holiday plans! We are off to Iceland in February but Sri Lanka sounds amazing! How is the flight from where you guys are? Long?

Iceland would be exciting Hana! I just looked up flight times & got a bit of a surprise- 12.5 hrs from Melbourne & we would have to fly there first. Eek. Geography has never been my strong point.

Ooo! The holy island should be very worth visiting! Stay strong on the club front, no matter how much people whine. They may finally come to realize just how much the two of you have been doing all this time.

I hadn't heard it called that LaMa. I'm pretty sure we'll go there, but it's a matter of how we'll do the trip. I actually don't feel like organising the trip myself, so may go with a tour. We have only ever done one tour & the group wasn't the greatest, but I think that was bad luck. The one we're thinking of doing is a max of 20. There are so many different ones though. This one is looking like the favourite- http://www.bunniktours.com.au/India-Sri-Lanka-Tours/Small-Group-Tours/A-Taste-of-Sri-Lanka
I'm not 100% sure we'll do this one though. It includes airfares from Australia.
Better scoot. G & I are off to see a movie. We're going to see "Red Dog: True Blue" This is very unusual for us. I think we may be doing many things in the new year that we haven't done before. I'm looking forward to it.
Bye for now, xoxo Cate
