Cate's Diary

Even Im over the golf club and Ive never been! G sounds like my dad in the way that he always has to be doing something useful. Id be quite happy to stay in bed watching movies and being fed if id had an operation

Thanks, Jen & Katy xoxo
I have just sent him off to bed for a nap. "I don't like being an invalid" were his parting words. Who does?
The community nurse came around & is coming back on Friday to change his dressing & catheter. That will be good.
G wrote a letter to the newspaper thanking the staff at the hospital & I have just been proofreading & re-writing it. It's a wonderful letter. I'll read it to him when he wakes. I can hear him snoring. That's good.
I'll go have a quick look around the diaries again xoC

:) Not liking being an invalid is a very healthy state of mind. Some people subconsciously welcome being pitied and pampered and they have very bad chances of healing. I´m glad everything´s going better!

Very true LaMa. I have been very impressed with his attitude. He's taken all sorts of interventions & indignities in his stride. There has been no self pity.

Oh God, sounds like things are a bit stressful for you and poor ol' G. That's really lovely that he wrote a letter to thank everyone.

Thanks Emily. He is lovely. He liked my heavily edited letter & I sent it off. I hope they print it.
G had a really good night's sleep, but then his catheter got blocked & we couldn't clear it. He was in such discomfort so I changed it. It took a lot out of him & he has gone back to bed. Things are working again. Phew! I am feeling a bit under the weather. 8 days since his op, hopefully 7 to go to have the Catheter removed.
I am eating really healthy, but not getting much exercise. I don't like leaving him on his own. If he feels up to it later I might take him for a drive & do a few things I need to do. He can stay in the car. I'll see how he is after his shower when he wakes. Otherwise it can wait until tomorrow.

Stress is exhausting LaMa, & as much as I think I am coping well, my body is telling me otherwise. I am falling asleep in the evening& then sleeping about 7 hours straight!
Thank you, Hana. You're a sweetie xoxo
Have our GS here at the moment & he has done some gardening & just washed my car. He is such a lovely kid.
G had a bad night's sleep & has dozed a bit today. The community nurse came today & changed his bandage. The wound is healing well. He had a reasonably good sleep after she left. 9 down, 6 to go, before the catheter comes out(hopefully).
Love to all, xoxo Cate

You're all pretty lovely folks as far as I can tell so the GK fits right in. In six days so many people will be crossing their fingers for G global productivity will be down.

Sounds like you are doing a great job with all your responsibilities Cate! hang in there!:) And good luck to G

LaMa- thank you xo
Julie- thank you. I feel confident he's ok. We have got through harder times that tested our relationship.
10 days since the op, 5 to go to have the bc out(hopefully).
We have worked out how to fix the "hiccups" with the catheter now, which has made G much more comfortable.
I have been eating better than usual & have not weighed myself. I will sometime soon.

Just back now and catching up. So sorry to hear G is sick and you guys going through a hard time.

I know it takes a lot of strength to sit there in the hospital by your SO's bedside, support them, reassure them, be there. I hope you are taking care of yourself too as much as you can!

LaMa- my weekend has been really good. We are both getting very bored, so I took G for a drive. This afternoon I did quite a bit of gardening & G is doing some cooking(under strict supervision & with me doing any lifting).
Baboon( I do so dislike calling you that)-
It's OK- G is doing well. He is getting bored, so that's a good sign. I feel confident that he will be fine. Thank you very much for being concerned. You're sweet. You have had it tough hon. Sending lots of love your way xoC

Thank you honey buns, xoxo
Another good night's sleep! 12 down, 3 to go before G's catheter comes out.
His phone rang at 3.02 this morning( no caller id)!!! I didn't hear it, but it woke G with a fright & he jumped out of bed, getting all tangled up. He didn't get to it on time.
I have a sort of a confession to make. I have always been a light sleeper, but have been taking a low dose anti-histamine every night for about 20 years. I decided not to take it when we got back home, so I would hear if G needed me during the night. That's 10 nights in a row not taking it. I am sleeping well. I wake better in the morning & feel much better not taking them. I have been sleeping in another bed though, so I hope I can still sleep well when I return to ours.
We are getting some visitors this morning so will get moving shortly.
Love to all, Cate

Yay for good sleep! And I'm very happy G didn't tear out his catheter jumping up, that made me start a bit just reading it

I know! I would love to know who it was!
I have been trying to get into our diaries for hours & had almost given up. WTF!
I'm glad that has been fixed! Phew! The
