Cate's Diary

Thank you LaMa. I am thinking of not doing them for a few weeks & counting cals instead.
I woke up this morning, feeling rested. The sun is shining, there is no wind & there is no rain forecast. I'm off to play golf & I'm going to focus on having fun.

Thanks, Katy. It was a beautiful day in Tassie. It has been a while since I have been able to say that :blush5:
I won the C-Grade championships. I was 5 shots down after 2 weeks & ended up winning by 14 shots. It has been a long while since I have played well & I am just grateful that I hadn't totally forgotten how to play golf. I was wondering there for a while. My 2nd round of nine holes was 13 shots better than my 1st. I have never done that before. I'm usually exhausted towards the end. I'm glad it has finished.
I really am in shock about the US elections. How can this be possible?

Great job on the big win! I think there is a lot of shock about the US elections. Non more so than from the people that live there.

Thanks, Cowboy & Jen.
I think it is even more important now to focus on what is important in our lives. Plant those veggies or flowers if they give you pleasure, ring that friend you have been meaning to for some time, hug or phone your kids/partner/parents etc. Do the things you enjoy doing & be positive. Life is still good. There is much love, kindness & compassion in the world. I truly do not believe that Americans share the same values(lack of) and morals(lack of) that "that man has. I know that you are better than that. I don't know anyone who lives in the US who voted for him. It's the system that is at fault. I think it's important for all of us to stand up for what we believe & not to tolerate any of the "isms".
I love LaMa's quote in her diary today. On the 78th anniversary of the Kristallnacht in Austria (look it up as I did)-

Lots of love to all, xoxoxoCate

There is so much in my life to appreciate and be thankful for
Indeed there is Katy.
I played 9 holes of golf yesterday in the Chook Run & won a chook. I'm getting my game back, which is a relief! It was quite warm & another beautiful, sunny day. We didn't get home until 9.30(left home at 2) as we then ran the comp/did the bar & bbq, & I am a bit tired this morning. When G has his Op we won't be at the golf club much for a while. Last Sat we both played, Mon he played 27 holes, while I did the bar, Tues he played 18 holes, while I did the bar, Wed I played 18 holes (& the bar) & then we both played another 9 holes & the bar last night. Phew! Too much.
We are going to have a lazy day today & then I am taking G out tonight to see the comedian Bill Bailey. We have been watching him on TV for umpteen years & he is one very funny man! We met him in Darwin a couple of years ago & he insisted on us having a photo taken with him. He was really friendly & seemed just like he is on TV. He is often on QI, one of our favourite quiz shows. His show is getting great reviews. G has no idea who we're going to see!
I think I may just be having a nap during the day if I can.
Love to all, xoxo Cate

I don't know Bill Bailey - the only Aussie comedian we have (I think) is another alliterative name: Jim Jeffries. My friends love him, I'm not so crazy about him. What's a tangent?

Anyway, hope you and your fella have (had) a great evening!

Thanks, Han, LaMa & LJ xoxo
We had a really fun night. We went in early (very) & did some shopping. G got himself a fancy shmancy golf GPS view finder(range finder?) thingy. He really surprised me there. I had no idea he would even contemplate getting one. There you go- after all this time he can still surprise me :) It makes me feel better about getting my Fitbit as it was about $50 more.
We just happened upon a Mad Hatters party in a "mall" with live music & street stalls, face painting etc. The music was excellent. It was a once a year thing & we just got lucky with it.

We had Chinese for dinner & I had Tiger Prawns & veg with just a little bit of steamed rice. G's meal was nice, mine was incredibly salty& loaded with capsicum, which I did not expect. I don't think I'll eat Chinese anymore. I usually don't enjoy it much. I prefer Thai or Vietnamese.
Bill Bailey was wonderful. What a high energy show! He is SO funny. LJ-he's from the UK. He was in the TV shows Black Books(hilarious), QI (very funny quiz show with Stephen Fry as host) & Never Mind The Buzzcocks, amongst others. He is very intelligent & very funny. His web-site is here http://www.billbailey.co.uk/ I had to Google Jim Jefferies. I have never seen him or actually heard of him. It could be one of those funny anomalies. Apparently, he's big in the US.

G has just headed off to golf & I am spending the day at home.Nice. I have quite a few phone calls to make to get Mum's wake organised. I have been putting them off, but today is the day where I tick a few boxes!

Nice to hear you had fun! Yay for ticking boxes. I try to tick at least one every day at the moment, in order to feel like I have my life under control :p

So glad you had a lovely time, although sounds like the Chinese wasn't amazing.. I like getting Indian food sometimes but don't get much takeaway other than that. Always think you can make it at home for cheaper and tastier! It is nice as a treat though if you can find a good restaurant :)
I LOVE Black Books.. would loved to have seen him too, sounds like a great time!

Hi Katy- he was SOO good. A very funny, talented man! I won't bother looking at any Jim Jefferies clips then.
Hi Hana- We never get take away, but when we do go out to a show or spend the day in town we will have an inexpensive meal usually. We are not into the white tablecloth-type restaurants. We have a lot of curries at home & G is such a good cook.

It is bucketing down with rain again today. The golf club championships were meant to be on & I was going to drive G there, stock up fridges etc & go back again this afternoon to do the bar. I'm about to change back into some home clothes & might just hop on my exercise bike today. I don't think that will show on my Fitbit, but would be a good thing to do. It must be getting dusty. I had a very lazy day yesterday!

Brrr! It's cold again. I think we'll have to re-light our wood heater!

It would have if I had Katy. :blush5: Instead I have been alternating between panicking about my Mum's wake, thinking about changing plans, mainly due to an excess of mozzies where we were going to have a bbq, putting off ringing people because I hadn't made a decision......... now drinking some red wine, have made the decision, starting to feel better about it as will be catered for, instead of G & I doing all the catering........ still with calls to make, but feeling better about it all. Sometimes I get sick of adulting.
