Cate's Diary

Thanks Anna & LaMa. I'll get there, because I won't give up until I do. I didn't actually weigh on my last day of the month, because we came out & had breakfast in our dressing gowns & I just forgot! A whole month of doing the same thing & I slept in & didn't think of it until after I had eaten my breakfast! Oh well. I'll assume I weigh 81 I think.
I got all of my paperwork done yesterday & made up for the lack of sleep from the night before. I think I slept about 9 hours.
March summary-
Lost 1-1.5kg, but came within .5kg of losing 2.5 a couple of days ago. Did a minimum of 20 squats every day, logged into MFP every day(but didn't complete it ever- I'm bored with that) played at least 18 holes of golf every week. Quite happy with that.
Now to work out an April plan........

You said the other day that you're feeling fitter and healthier, so don't worry about the scales too much :)

Really glad to hear things are looking up for your son.

Hey you lost a measurable amount of weight this month and you exercised very regularly, I´d definitely call that a win; congratulations!

Thank you Delsid. I need to be reminded sometimes. I do feel much fitter, healthier & leaner, even if the scales don't quite reflect that. Thank you also for expressing concern for our son. I appreciate that
Thanks LaMa. I can't pretend that I am not disappointed, but you're right. I had a drop & I am very focussed now. I have been much more active again & subsequently I feel much more positive.
Life is really good right now.
G & I just got home from playing another game of golf. I'm playing again on Sunday, Wednesday & the following Saturday.
I am using my phone atm & it is playing up too. I'll try to remember to tell you about my nurse/ doctor's visit the other day

Amendment to the above post - Weight 80kg, so I did lose 2kg for the month ?

I think I'll amend my April plan as I am used to doing the 20 squats each day. I did 10 this morning & it just didn't feel right. I am more likely to continue doing them than I am the 2km a day.
Doctor/nurse story-
When I saw the doc last time for a cholesterol script I was due for blood tests & he included lots of things, including a urine test. He also asked me when I last had a Spirometer test & I replied that I don't think I have ever had one. To cut a long story short I was booked in to see the nurse to have one. She asked(almost as an aside) "Now, you don't have an Aneurism, do you, Cate?" To which I replied "Well, yes, in the middle of my heart. I have an enlarged Ascending Aorta". I told her what size it is. She looked shocked & then told me that the Spirometer test puts lots of pressure on your arteries & she would not risk it. She said that she would need to be next to a hospital to even consider doing it. She was embarrassed & looked worried. I just laughed & told her not to worry about it, as I feel I have my Asthma under control. She gave me a check-up- bp etc, gave me a demo on how best to use my puffer & I then had to go back to the doctor to discuss my blood tests.
I told him about the Aneurism & he looked a bit embarrassed. They never get much time to read anything & he has only seen me once. My cholesterol is good & all the components of that, all the other readings were good- liver function, sugar levels etc, but I have a minor urinary tract infection. He asked me if I wanted a course of antibiotics, but I declined. I asked him what else I could do & he suggested Cranberry Juice. When I went to the supermarket the cranberry "juices" only had a maximum of 7% cranberry (!) so I got some capsules instead.

I was surprised, but elated to see the weight on the scales this morning. I felt like I had a really solid month & had felt very focused. It has paid off after all. 2kg is great! :D

Man, glad the nurse asked you that. I know doctors try hard and it's difficult to keep with everyone individually, but when things like that slip through it's really scary.

No strong cranberry juice? How odd. In the states we have this super concentrated stuff that'll make your whole body pucker up with one sip. I have a friend who gets UTIs pretty frequently and she drinks that stuff whenever it happens. Clears things right up.

Cranberry drink here (they can't legally call it juice) is rubbish as well. Full of sugar. Another herbal remedy for UTI is uva ursi , my mum swears by it. You should be able to get it at a health shop.

Glad you had a good nurse on that day!

Scary stuff but soo lucky the nurse remembered...and hopefully it was a good reminder for the doctor!!

Well done on the 2kg loss!!!

Btw, how do you write the goals on your profile? I've looked around but can't seem to find it.

Yay on two kilos lost for March! And cookies for the nurse, everyone can forget something so it´s important to have competent folks on all levels. I can find real cranberry juice in health food stores here but not in the supermarket. Capsules work just as well though, and are way more affordable!

Thank you lovelies
I'm glad she was on the ball too! I so might not have been around to tell the tale , but I am.
I hadn't had any symptoms so it's probably just a minor infection. I'll take the Cranberry capsules until they run out & then I may try the uva ursi Anna, as I see you can drink it as s tea. I'll give it a crack.
I don't usually drink juice as it's loaded with calories, but I'll check out some decent cranberries at the health food shop.
Delsid- do you mean how I have my April plan?
I have to go- the GK's are here & the littlies fancy their sweets. They have had-
Territory Jerky
A Frosty Fruit
A big salad
Steak
Pizza sandwich!
xo

Yay! My internet has been re-set & I'm no longer on dial-up speed(aka snail speed) :D
I am going to be busy today as the GC barmaid can't work, so I will. I'm also going to the market & visiting Mum.

I'm doing a 500 cal "fast" today & have done 40 squats already. I rang an old friend yesterday, who I have not spoken to for about 9months.

He he, slow internet is soooo frustrating :D

Hope keeping busy today will make fasting easier!

Sorry, I guess I wasn't very clear. I meant, how you set it up so that your goal appears at the bottom of each of your posts. It seems like a really good reminder.

Hi Delsid. Keeping busy does help me. I'm getting through the day easily. I have eaten 25g of Territory Jerky though, which has helped. It is so filling!
My goals down the bottom are in my signature. If you scroll over your avatar on the top right of the forum signature will come up as an option. Click on that & then you can do the same. There are many good things about our forum update & that is one of them. I find it does help keep me focused.
I have had a good day today. I find that when I am at the weight I am now I get very favourable comments about how I look & that never goes astray.
I bought a new woollen jacket from the Op shop today for $8.25 :D
I also bought a new cashmere Pashmina at the market. It's gorgeous. I don't really need it, but I also really liked it! :D
I had a lovely day.
Today I have fasted, done 40 squats, I have played my 27-holes of golf this week & weighed yesterday. :)

Thank you Anna & Amy!
G & I are off to another golf club today to play in their Captain & President's day. It's a lovely course, near the beach & is flatter than ours, so easier.
Sunday(Day 1 of my official week)-Weighed in this morning(still on the cusp), did 20 squats, off to golf.....:D

~Thank you Delsid & LaMa~
I had a lovely day today.
It was chilly/warm/chilly/warm.....Autumn. It's day 1 of the end of Daylight Savings.
We had lovely company. It was funny because when we got there we saw a really good friend, D, who said he wished he knew we were going to be there as he would have organised to play with us. He was playing with his 88-year-old mother. By sheer good luck, we just happened to be in the same group, along with another couple about our age from another club, who won the day. D's father & G's father were best friends as far back as WW2. They were in the Navy together. His mother, D, was really good friends with G's Mum. We had some catching up to do.
A lovely day indeed.
The golf was incidental. Well, our score was. I played some great shots, some woeful shots, but we had a good day. FUN.
