Cate's Diary

Thank you Jen, Chef & LaMa.
Jen I know that quitting will be right for me. We have both had enough & really need to start thinking of ourselves more. It is not being selfish.
Chef, I have to confess you had me feeling a bit emotional. Thank you so much!
LaMa. Yay for supportive friends for sure. I feel like I am surrounded by them in here.

I don't think we should ever underestimate the power that we have within us to reach out & show support to others. I really appreciate kindness.

G & I have had a lovely day today. We went from tears in the morning(me) & churning stomachs, to a strong decision being made & a plan. Then we settled down & had a lovely roast lamb lunch. We have gone from a total drought & bushfires all over Tasmania to a wild storm with loud thunder & lightning & the rain bucketed down. The power went out at 2.20pm so we decided to go into town & do some shopping, visit Mum again(I'm going to see her more often again-long story) went out to the club & put a sign up cancelling the golf comp that would have been on tonight. We had our names down to run tonight's comp. Golf is very dangerous in a storm :D
If it had gone ahead we would have been lucky to have been home yet(it's 9.40pm).
Instead, we came home, shared a wine, read in the fading light as there was no TV :D & the power came on in time for G to watch Federer v/s Jokovic in the Australian open. It's still going. I got to finish my book.

We are having tomorrow at home & G & I are playing golf together on Saturday. I do plan on having more fun & putting up with less crap. It's good to feel that we are firming our resolve.
Thanks folks for supporting me as always.
Lots of love, Cate

Looks like you took full advantage of the lack of power! Wine and books in the fading light sounds incredibly peaceful, like the way we were meant to live.

Sounds like an incredible day and you found a way to take full advantage of the storm. From the sounds of it the storm was a big hit all around with the needed rain and an extra break from the golf club.

Glad that rain arrived, storm or no! And it always makes me happy to read about your happy, relaxed days :)

I agree Oaks. There should be more of it!

We had 70mls of rain! I'm not sure if the rain was all over Tassie, but I'm sure it put out some of the bushfires. It also caused flooding in many places & in some towns they had hail stones the size of golfballs. Crazy weather! Anyone who thinks Climate Change does not exist has rocks in their head!
And it always makes me happy to read about your happy, relaxed days :)
Thank you sweetie xo

A home day coming up. It's cool & overcast & more rain will come. I just checked the fire alerts & we have gone from about 43 to 1" watch and act" & 8 "advices". The West Coast has not got any rain apparently. Our water tanks were the lowest they have been, but they will most probably be full now.

I hope I haven't missed anyone's diary. It's a bit hard to keep up at the moment. Love to all, xoxo Cate

Hey Cate, I haven't had the chance to catch up on your diary just yet but wanted to say thank you for all the kind words you've left in mine. I truly appreciate it! :)

That's a lot of rain to combat the fires but crazy that everyone now has to worry about flooding and hail damage. Crazy weather patterns are now the new normal which is scary.
Hope the weekend is going well and you're not experiencing any more extreme weather.

Hi Lucy (you're welcome sweetie xo)
Hi K & D. Crazy weather is the new normal. Climate change brought on by humans :(
Today brings incredibly gusty winds(30-50 kph) & showers. G & I are meant to be playing golf together in a sponsor day. It is going to be nasty weather if it goes ahead. We'll get out there & see.
I will have to come back later & catch up with diaries. Mishaal needs some help re nutrition & diet if someone has the time and/or the inclination.
Better scoot, xoxo Cate

Stay safe, Cate, you´re the best "mom" this forum could wish for!
You are sweet LaMa :beating:
G & I had a lovely day. It was windy, but only had a few spits of rain(not enough to put the umbrella up) & we played quite well & came 4th. I was the only woman there & G & I played with 2 really nice guys. It is so different to playing with the women. I'm going to play more often on a Sat I think. We both felt really relaxed & there were no hassles at all. It was a sponsor day & we left it up to him whether to go on with the day or not. I'm glad he was keen to play. He owns a pub & it gave him a day off work.

G has an 8-ball comp on today & there is a golf club meeting on at 7pm, which wouldmean being away from 10.15- 9.15'ish. We're both hoping the comp goes a bit late & we'll ring & put in our "apologies" for the meeting. That would be a first. I know I could do it easily, but I also think G is tempted. It wouldn't hurt for us not to be there. I know our lives are going to be so much better when we are no longer on committee.

Hey Cate, stay safe in the storms. It's been pretty feral up here too, lots of crazy thunder and lightning the last few days and the humidity is through the roof!!! Never been so glad to have air con!

Hi Lucy. It has been very wild overnight, but the thunder & lightning has passed for now. It sure is crazy feral weather!. The rains have not been falling where the fires are & have actually hampered them as the planes can't get up to drop water & firefighters have had trouble getting in to them. Madness, hey?

I just had to pop back in as G just said to email B putting in our apologies for tonight. DONE! :D :D :D

I know. We have to do more things we enjoy & less of the things that cause us stress & grief. My email said please put in our apologies & that we were unable to attend. I did not give a reason. They will think we were still at the 8-ball, but we are comfortably back home relaxing. We both have to practise saying no.
We had another nice day.

I'm doing a 'fast' day today & have 2 meals plated up ready. It always makes it easier for me to have my food mapped out for the day. I'm having konjac noodles with some spinach, snow peas & venison meatballs in a tomato & vegetable sauce(made by G) times 2. Both meals will be about 200 cals, which will leave me enough cals to have a small fruit platter(<100 cals)
I weighed this morning & I'm hoping for a good weigh-in tomorrow. It's time to knuckle down again. Time to kick up the exercise again. I have played golf twice in the last week & feel much better for it.

I kind of want to try intermittent fasting. I don't know if there would be any survivors though. I get real cranky when I'm hungry. lol. Glad you got some golf in! :)

Hey Jen. Give it a go. I'm not saying it's easy though. My stomach is calling out to me right now, but I am getting used to hunger. I have always hated being hungry! Golf was really good, but I need to do some more exercise.
Thanks Q. G is a very good cook. I am thoroughly spoiled. He will weigh everything out for me so I can put recipes on MFP & plan my fast days around his meals. I know how lucky I am. I must admit I am ravenous right now(at 10.50am) but I didn't eat enough yesterday. That should be good for the scales tomorrow, but was just accidental.
The changes in the forum are mostly good. I was just informed that there was an update (Q) so could add to my post. Excellent!
