Thanks Q.
Well, I have been for my stress ECG & I have an enlarged ascending Aorta & an irregular heart beat. He was very thorough & gave me mostly praise for my overall health, my diet, exercise (esp taking up golf), losing weight(esp. losing 36kg in 6 months). He also thinks the BP medication I'm on is a good one, so does not recommend any change there. What he did really stress is that I need to drastically reduce salt in my diet. As of right now I am not going to add salt to my food. If my aorta becomes much more enlarged I will need surgery, so I will do it.....I can do it. I know I'm addicted to salt. I crave it much more than I ever crave sugar.I'm glad I had this done. I still have to go for a CT scan & to have some Holler(?) machine put on for a day, so that he has a baseline to compare the size of my aorta each year. If it gets more than 5cm then it might burst. Currently it's 3.9. I am determined to be as healthy as I can be & this has given me a boost, rather than scaring me. He seemed very positive.
I have a feeling I will lose weight anyway if I cut down on salt so here comes the next phase. I am going to get back into golf & regular exercise again as I no longer feel frightened about my heart.
Love to all, xo Cate
