Cate's Diary

...which I didn't do, but had a really good day & a good game. I had a net 65, so my handicap will come down another 1 at least. Happy about that! I was in such good company today. I visited my Mum afterwards & she didn't want to go up the street, which was a nice surprise. I said I would take her out for lunch on Friday. Poor old thing. She has deteriorated so much mentally :( but seems happy enough :)
Another great golfing day :D
Cheers, Cate

Hey Cate, glad you are having a good time with your golf. Sorry to hear about your mom. Enjoy the time you spend with her.

xx

Hi Mands. I tried 3 times writing in your diary, only to have Internet Explorer crash on me! I'll try again!! What country are you in now? Good luck with the business! xoxo Cate. Posting quickly & then will come back later....fingers crossed that this will not disappear into the ether........

Hey Cate - "guilty".... I smiled when I read your post about the "dessert slip up" ....

... it is so true - how much "guilt" any bad-eating carries with it.... but i think we do need to accept that no one is meant to be perfect... life is not perfect... just try & do our best... and go with the flow... there is an old ukrainian saying ( that my mother used to quote to me..) " a Person learns new things all their life - & still dies stupid ".... so close to what you said in your post- it really struck me...

~ I think we will continue having insights into our psyche forever. The day we stop learning is the day we die "~

~ but am so glad to see you also posted "love my life".... I really think that is the secret - to APPreciate what you do have..and make the best of what you are given....

~ keep rolling on that golf - it is Sooo healthy for ya - a hobby U enjoy & Burn calories to boot !!

Hi Maryann. We fly out on the 22nd of April!! Less than 3 months!! I am loving golf & have taken 6 off my handicap in the 3 months that I have been playing. I'm happy about that! I have to scoot now as dinner's ready. I am ravenous!! West African Chicken...YUM!! Cheers for now xo Cate

Today I woke up feeling so much lighter. This will be my 4th day without any wine. It is so much easier keeping within your calories without any wine!!
I didn't weigh as I didn't have a BM, but I know that I am lighter. I will weigh soon. Fingers & toes crossed! All of my clothes feel lose & comfortable again. :D
I am having a fasting blood test this morning so have not been able to eat breakfast & I am ravenous. I'll take the opportunity to only have a low-calorie morning snack (a banana & a Leda gluten-free fruit-filled bar & then I am taking Mum out for lunch. I usually have a yummy soup, with herb & garlic gf toast. I may even go out & have a practise hit, unless the threatening rain eventuates. I really do want it to rain as it is SO dry & Tasmania has had so many bushfires already.
My LH & I spent a fair bit of time yesterday gardening & we can sure see the results. He is working quite a bit at the moment and playing lots of golf as it's the time of year for all the open days/sponsors days etc so we don't get many days at home together for a little while. I'm glad he doesn't work full-time!
My stomach is actually rumbling. My biggest meal is usually breakfast.
OK- enough of that. I'll go do some housework before I go, xo Cate

I struggled through yesterday, but managed not to have any wine, or succumb to my sweets cravings. My LH arrived home with a massive French Vanilla slice, that one of the chefs had made for a birthday. I LOVE FVS! After dinner, when I had put in all of my calories for the day I had a tiny piece & then we took the rest to our son's house as we were babysitting for a few hours, while they took his OS to some fireworks. We watched Roger Federer get beaten by Andy Murray :( & I resisted the vanilla slice.
That makes 5 days without any wine or other alcohol & 5 days under 1350 cals per day. Still haven't weighed but I must be down....surely?
I feel really tired today as I didn't sleep very well, for some reason. Maybe not enough exercise yesterday. I will do something soon! It's a bit wild & woolly today- cooler & very windy, so I may hop on my bike & maybe do some weights. I am really getting some nice arm muscles & calf muscles from golf! :D
This week I'm playing Monday, Wednesday & Thursday! :D :D
Feeling lazy.....must move....soon........ xo Cate

Hey Cate - get movin' girl- ...knock-away that lazy .....mmmm April22 - Paris in springtime....lovely....me jealous

PS - good work on resisting the vanilla-slice ( ...your hubby is enabling a bit ?? bad hubby - tempting U like that !! )

Have a nice weekend,
cheers, Maryann

Hi M, I know, I know...naughty husband. He looked very sheepish when he walked in the door with it as he knows I love it. It just goes to show that my resolve is very strong at the moment. :D He also didn't mind at all us taking it to our son's place as he watches his weight as well. Whenever I decide to lose weight he does too- at a more rapid rate! Grrr. That's that male metabolism for you. He's now about a kilo less than me, but I'm about 1.5'" taller than him. I'll get below him again soon though as he won't drop much more. Ahhhh Spring-time in Paris....I'm moving right now!:D xo Cate.

Our son & older grandson LOVED the French Vanilla slice apparently. Our grand-daughter thought it hilarious that I said I didn't want it in our fridge talking to me, saying "eat me, eat me!"
Having a lovely day with them today. The 2 munchkins are in the bath playing happily with bath toys. They love having things to play with here & are always asking to take them home but I don't let them. We played with Lego for ages too. The 2 littlies also helped their pop make a delicious cereal/fruit slice, which we all had after salad lunch. We are sending them home to their mum's with some. We'll make a habit of making something healthy & sending them home with some I think.
I still haven't weighed but will tomorrow, for sure.
Love to all xoxo Cate

Wow Cate, no wine for a few days now - thats awesome!! I knew you could do it! You should weigh tomorrow so we can find out that weightloss hun. I can imagine how great those arm muscles are starting to look. :)

Hi sweets. No wine for 7 whole days!! Wee hoo! I did it. Lost .5kg for the week, having 1350 cals per day. I want to lose 4.5kg before our trip in April. I'm going to have a weekly goal every week this year. This week it is keeping under 1350cals EVERY day again & not having wine 2 days in a row. I didn't exercise as much this week, but will be making up for it in the next 2 weeks. I'm playing golf 3 times this week & at least 2 the following. Off to golf #1 shortly. It's going to be 26oC today & looks like a lovely day for golf! :D xoxo Cate

Great work Cate on 0.5kg lost ! woo hoo .....
& sounds like U had a very nice visit with the grand-kids... lovely.

1350 cals/day target sounds very sensible - Paris in April - here U come !

keep it rollin' gal,
cheers, Maryann

Hi Maryann, We did have a lovely time with the Gk's! I had another good day at golf today & took another .9 off my handicap. We played with a lovely couple & I really enjoyed it. My aim is to just improve & I laugh at myself when I play silly shots & have a great time. It feels so good to be out there in the sunshine, in good company exercising, having fun & getting fitter & fitter. I feel really lucky. I can relax & have a few wines today, knowing that I'll stay under my calories for the day. Nice. Love to all, xoxo Cate

Internet Explorer has crashed 4 times already so I have no confidence attempting to post!
Mum is sick again.
They have fed her Lactose AGAIN.
I feel frustrated & a little angry & a little sad.
OK- that managed to work......editing post-
Life is so mixed & I guess will always be. Our ys is arriving home apparently for a quick visit in a few weeks- read that on Facebook :(
I will have to get used to Mum's decline but wish I had more control over what they give her. How much do I have to nag! I would have thought something like this was basic. It's not like they have a home full of people with food insensitivities.
It is not like me to get angry or to bitch & moan. The fees homes charge are not small by any means & basic things like this should be better monitored.
Rant over...
Golf again tomorrow, when I will try hard to tune out.
xoxo Cate

Sorry to hear about your mom Cate. Its amazing how life throws us these curves and sometimes catches us off guard. But it seems like we always get through those days might be with tears or a rant or a bitch & moan - but we get through it.

Concentrate on your golf tomorrow and give it stick!! Well done on the weight loss hun x

View attachment 19803Hey Cate - ... it is hard when our loved ones decline... wish they could stay young & vital forever...but mother-nature just doesn't work that way... it sounds like her care is (usually) pretty good there... too bad they did mess-up a bit ...

Glad to hear that you do have lots of golf this week to keep you distracted...& if U are feelin' a little down...just think about us folks over here in Northern Canada- -28C today... only golfing here is on TV... lol.

cheers gal,
Maryann

Posted in your diaries xoxo Thank you!
Had a pretty rotten day- stressed about mum, played badly, got shown a bit of sympathy & shed some tears!
Didn't get home until 11 last night, have had a really good night's sleep & am feeling a lot better now. It probably helped to have a bit of a rant & rave, but especially probably helped shedding a few tears. I have been bottling up my sadness at mum's decline.
Time to move- have a nagging husband who wants me to come dry the dishes. I can't complain as he's washing them! Ha ha.
Bye for now xoxo Cate
