... oh my - there U go with those chicken's again Kate !! great work on another 1/2kilo down- U will be super-shape for Paris/Rome !

cheers, maryann :)
Ha ha Maryann! I DID win a chook. I was 2nd in the Thursday comp & won another free-range frozen chicken. I KNOW we are crazy in Tasmania, but from what I gather you Canadians aren't far behind us in the having fun/eccentricity stakes! I will have to keep my bragging to this forum as I think I may have cheesed off a few women (well 1 anyway) with my improvements. Not everyone shares my enthusiasm in my improvement apparently. *blush* I get a little excited sometimes. I bought a 5 wood today!! Very cheaply I might add. It was not quite what I wanted but my LH reckons it will become my little "slammer" so, for only $15 it won't matter! I can't wait to get out there & give it a go!

Really nice work in here Cate! 4Kg? You can see that finish line or since you're a golfer you are on the green of the 18th hole.

Thanks Quercus. I am really happy being back within 4kg of my GW (AGAIN) & I know that I am much more muscly than I was the last time I was at this weight. It's all good. I LOVE my golf. Fancy finding a new sport at my age(almost 60!) Thanks for your visit. I'll repay the favour very soon. Cheers, Cate

Cate fab on the weightloss!!! You will loose that 4kg in no time hun. You are really kicking butt on that golf course hey - I'm so glad you are enjoying and having a fab time!

Keep us updated about your mom. Hope all goes well and have a super day x

Hi Mands, You are a sweetie. I'm quite exhausted today, after just dropping off the 3 GK's at their mothers. We were tired after a big day yesterday. We were out at the golf club at 8am, with me doing the bar & stocking it up, & my LH helping get people playing for charity day & then we both went to a 6 hour rock concert. I'm too tired to go into details but we had a good day- LOTS of dancing & only 2 drinks as I was driving home.
Today the 2 littlies had their cranky pants on. We ended up taking them to a resort up the Tamar River & played mini golf & they went on this big jumping thingie & we had lunch. It was quite expensive & absolutely exhausting & they were hard work today. Oh well!
It's time to go sit in my chair with a herbal tea & put my feet up!
Love to all xoxo Cate
PS Mands- Mum is ok at the moment. I'm about to ring her & will call in tomorrow & have lunch with her the next day. Thank you for caring sweetie xo

Hey Cate - yup - us Canucks' be almost as crazy as the Tasmanian's...U are in good company... I think the fact our winter up here is almost 6mos-would make anyone crazy- we have to do something to survive lol !

Hi Maryann, Just got off a skype call with our son. He'll be home on the 20th!! Woot woot!!! He's had this crazy virus that had his mouth & throat really badly ulcerated & it sounds awful. I won't go into the gory details but it was extremely painful apparently. It was so nice to see his face & chat with him. Skype is great! I feel really tired after our week-end but have been given a boost by his call! I'm going to get on the bike today, after a break from it, with all my golf. It feels like ages since I played golf & it was only last Thursday. I played 3 times last week though. I feel like I'm rambling a bit so will scoot. I only meant crazy in the nicest possible way btw, as I like crazy! Cheers, xoxo Cate

Had a nice quiet day at home & caught up with a bit of housework, rode 10km on my exercise bike & then went in to see Mum. She wasn't with it really & looked about to nap. Apparently she had barely eaten again. I'm having lunch with her again today. I never thought I would ever eat a ham steak & pineapple again! LOL. I then went out to the golf club & did the bar for the Corporate challenge. Home at 9.30pm.
Today I have a full day, with bar at golf club(only for a little while though in the am,) Tai Chi, lunch with Mum, shopping & then bar at golf club. I have to get some things ready for the women's open day tomorrow.
Cheers for now, xo Cate

Hiya Cate. 10km!!! I would drop dead - I'm currently so unfit that I'm just trying to walk 3km - and I STRUGGLE.

Sorry to hear about mum - did you ever had that health assessment done?

You are doing sooooo great with the golf - really well done.

Hope your mom is doing better. If you ever find yourself in Phoenix, we can play a round of golf. It always helps to have someone there with me to help me look for my ball after I hit it.

Hi sweets, 10km would have had me huffing & puffing too, once upon a time. Well....make that most of my adult life! When i look at what some people do I feel like a slackie, but, hey, I'm happy I'm moving. Moving is GOOD!
Mum.....Hmmm......It's sad, but it's her new reality I'm afraid. she has been diagnosed as high care, but there was no doubt about that I'm afraid. It really means that the home will get paid more to look after her, which is fair enough.
Thanks for being so caring Mands.
Re: Golf..... My partner & I won Division 2 today!! :D Funny thing is I didn't feel that I played that well, but according to the players from the other clubs that we played with, they were amazed that I am really just a beginner. We had a net 65 & also would have won the putting with only 29 putts, but they only give one prize per team. I know that I am hard on myself. If I don't hit the ball REALLY well I am disappointed.

Hope your mom is doing better. If you ever find yourself in Phoenix, we can play a round of golf. It always helps to have someone there with me to help me look for my ball after I hit it.
Ha ha Mr Vee. I think you would be helping me look for my ball instead! I am LOVING golf but am exhausted tonight. Mum won't get any better I don't think, but golf helps take my mind off her situation. It's a great distraction. Cheers!

Hey Cate - so exciting your son will be home for a visit on the 20th... bet U can hardly wait to see him !

Good work on the 10k on ex-bike - it's good to "mix-up" your exercise...use a bit different muscles than golf- keep your body guessing...

The Tai-Chi sounds fun...I wish it was offered out here - I live in a very small town- there are some local rec programs...but most stuff is at least a 40min.drive away- we do have a golf-course right in town though...if I feel brave by spring...I just may join a ladies' league this year...maybe... your fun with the game really inspires me... I'm not very good at all- but really would like to improve- a cousins' wife joined a league last year - & she said was amazing how much her game picked up with being out there regularly...

Hope your lunch with your mother is ok - ...treasure your time with her...I'm sure it perks her up when she sees you... mother-daughter bonds are so precious... my shared-time with my mom , as she got elderly, was to take her grocery-shopping each week, and we had supper out together those nights too - ... so many wonderful chats while we shopped together ... such fond memories ...

Hope you have a nice week Cate - sounds like a few busy days coming up at the golf-club for you... good to be busy... less time to eat ...lol.

hope your vacation preparations are going well... are the bathing suits all packed?

cheers, Maryann

Hi Maryann, Tai Chi is very relaxing & is good for me. It really chills me out. I am enjoying the mix. Golf is really physical & dare I say it, competitive, & Tai Chi is such a contrast. My bike riding is also a time out thing as I read while I ride. I get a rhythm up (about 30-31 km an hour) & then start reading. I have a peek every now & then until I get to 10 km. I used to struggle to do 5 km! A walk around the golf course, without detouring (ha ha- as if!) on our local course is 7.5 km & I have been playing 2.5 games a week, the last few weeks. I should be getting fit! I hope you do decide to get back into golf. I know you won't regret it. It is such a mood lifter!
I know I will always cherish the time I am spending with Mum. She looks at me so lovingly & is always saying "She's my daughter!" & "She's a good girl." that I know I made the right decision moving her over to Tassie, to have her near me. I am starting to worry about leaving her for a month, but I must try to put some things in place & then take my mind off it while we're away.
Bathing suits........I'll try mine on today, thanks for the reminder. That may be what will spur me on to lose a few more kgs!
xo Cate

Tried my bathers on this morning & thought "good enough for an old girl!" so that's a big step for me. There was no "euuw, I hate my legs" or thinking how pale I am. I'm ok! Phew! I will pack my bathers!
Weight steady, exercise constant.....went to the docs this morning for a check-up & got a very clean bill of health. My golfis improving my cholesterol count & Vitamin B deficiency. NICE! She congratulated me on starting something new. My doctor is LOVELY! Playing golf again tomorrow, with my LH & 2 other men. It's nice that he wants to play with me. I was leaving him be on his Saturday's but he wants me to play so I will.
Doing well at the moment. Love to all xoxo Cate

Yay for the clean bill of health Cate!

Cate you are doing so great all around - great exercise, positive attitude & new lease on life!! Brilliant!! And all good components for a healthy lifestyle!!

As Maryann says, enjoy the time with your mum. She probably appreciates all the visits and lunches with you. I'm glad the home takes good care of her - worth the moola if they really take an interest in her wellbeing!

Have a fab day! xx

Hi Mands & Maryann & thank you. You are both very sweet! I think I will steer clear of the men's golf as I was the only woman there today & I felt like I inhibited them. I'm no prude but I felt that the other 2 players were not their usual selves. I think it is good for men to have their men's days, just like I enjoy my women's days. I also felt pressured to play extra well & consequently didn't. I played OK but it took me AGES to relax & enjoy it!
Still loving my golf though.
Cheers, xo Cate

I can imagine how you felt between all the guys. But I'm sure you didn't play as bad as you say.

Glad you loving it!

Bathing suits. I no longer have one of those. Well I do, but it's not going to stay on me, so to stay out of jail I'd need a new one.

Swimming season starts up roughly in the middle of May and that looks like about 257 pounds right now. Still a little higher than I'd care to be seen in public, but good enough for my parents' pool.

As far as MAN'S DAY out at the golf course, there's little less productive emotions out on the golf course than self-conscious. Other than pace of play, you should probably banish those thoughts and try and enjoy yourself.

Hey Cate! Thought I'd pop back in and tell you how much we enjoyed our time in your beautiful country... And I could kick myself that I didn't pay attention to the itinerary to tell you we were going to be in Hobart, Tasmania! We weren't there long, but rest assures I did think of you, and now when I read your description of where you live...among the gum trees on a hill...I now have a perfect mental picture! We visited a little town of Richmond and I bought a hand made wooden box... It's my Cate box!
I don't know what take the scale will tell...I'd like to say I dont care, but of course that would be a lie...I do know that I kept very active and did some long runs in both New Zealand and Australia (I ran the harbor bridge in Sydney!).
Hope all is well with you and you are getting ready for your lovely trip!
Xoxo,
Sarah

Mands- I know that I am hard on myself, but I'm still sure I did not play well! I did enjoy it & it's great exercise, but I'll still try to stick to women's golf or just golf with my LH. You are going great on Cohen's sweets. keep up the good work. I know how hard it is!

Mr Vee- Swimming season mid May? I will be in Paris :D celebrating my 60th birthday! I have realised that no-one else really notices you, but that still does not stop me from being painfully self-conscious, especially among men. It has taken me quite a number of years(6!!) since I lost most of my excess weight, to be able to wear shorts (capris really.) Now I don't care. If some-one looks at me & thinks that I look too fat or old or whatever, I actually do not care at all. They will be the one with the problem. There are so many advantages to being no longer young! REALLY! I do want to be better at golf though & don't want to play badly or ruin someone else's fun. I have dropped 9 shots off my handicap since October! So exciting! PS buy some new bathers Mr Vee. It doesn't matter that you'll be needing new ones before too long.

Oh Sarah, You were here, in Tassie & I didn't know?!!!!!!!!!!! I could have met you!!!!! Oh, what a shame!! I am so glad you loved it though & have had a wonderful time. Richmond is lovely. I LOVE wooden boxes! I really have a bit of a thing about trunks, boxes, containers..... & I LOVE wood! It sounds like you really do have a Cate box! How appropriate. Which wood is it? If it's Blackwood, it's my absolute favourite. So happy to have you back in here & also happy that you had a great time, xoxoC
