Cate's Diary

Just checking in, Cate. I'm back now so will be around to come visit a little more often :) Hope you're well and still fighting hard as always <3

Hi Sarah & Sunflower & anyone else reading my diary  I just typed a HUGE post & accidentally clicked on home instead of arrowing up & lost the lot, so I'll now be brief! GAH!!!

I'm trying to make the most of my sister's visit & trying to combine doing touristy things with taking Mum out. Neither my sister nor Mum can walk far unfortunately. I'm trying not to worry too much about everything & just enjoy it.

I saw a snake yesterday!! That WAS exciting! It was in the bush & I was cutting through from one track to another. Unfortunately my sister didn't see it. It was in a big hurry to get away from us!

I feel good physically & ma feeling leaner & healthier.

Am going out for lunch & a drive today with my sister & Mum. We may go to Sheffield. Mum LOVES Shefiield!

Love to you all, xoxo Cate

Hi Sarah, & anyone else reading my diary. I don't want a snake coming for me, & would rather they were heading in the opposite direction, but I do LOVE seeing them! It's always exciting!

Yesterday-

I rode 10km (double my minimum) on my bike, fairly fast, first thing

Kept within my calories, easily for the day, including eating lunch out & having some wine at the end of the day.

Drove for hours around the mountains. Our Mum LOVED it.

Today-

Have already done my minimum of 5km.

Breakfast- Sourdough Oat bread, toasted with 1/2 an avocado, asparagus & 99@ FF mayo. Another slice with some jam- was hungry! (ate too little yesterday?)

We're going to Tai Chi at 11.30 & then meeting our OS out at the caves where he is going to give us a personal tour! Nice!

Tomorrow we may stay at home for the day & just go walking around our block.

Lots of love to all, xoxo Cate

AHeya Cupcake

Sounds like you're having a lovely time with your sister and mum :)

Oooh snake!! Exciting. i know it is no where near the same but we have slow worms at the allotment and we allways get proper excited seeing them. Jack loves them :)

Well done on the exercise, you are totally rockin' it sweetie

Love and hugs :grouphug:

Hi Hun, I am having a great time with my sister & Mum, but am feeling fairly knackered! What about you- resisting lemon drizzle cake!!! WOWSERS! That sounded so nice, you almost had me salivating! The chocolate I don't have much trouble resisting thank goodness. We have had a couple of ice-creams though. One was from the Raspberry farm & another from the Honey Farm. They were scrumptious! That's another of my 'new rules'. Food has to be good or it's not worth eating. No rubbish & no shovelling it in, mindlessly! Love & hugs back to you too sweetie xoxo Cate

Yesterday-

Did another 5km on the bike, fast, so 10.3km for the day.

Went to Tai Chi for an hour.

Met our OS out at the caves & he gave us a personal tour of all 3 caves. We walked up & down & around & all over the caves. It was spectacular!! He did that so that my sister did not have to mix with other people & wear her mask. She is much more allergic than me. Actually we react to different things, but it's good because we can alert one another to fragrance. She loved the tour & so did we. It was lovely of our son to do that. He had asked his boss & he ok'd it. How good is that? We called in to see Mum on the way back.

Went out to 8-ball last night & our YS's team beat my LH's team in an elimination final. My sister stayed at home, happily.

Today-

A comparatively lazy day methinks. All this driving around is tiring me out a bit. I might hop on my bike shortly & just do the minimum. It may help me stretch out a bit.I'm so stiff & sore. We are going for a walk around our bush block today as my sis hasn't seen it yet. Tonight it's Taekwondo & OGS night so I have to go into town again. zzzz

Love to all, xoxo Cate

Today (update)- Did 5k on the bike, followed by about 45 mins with my LH gathering wood. About to go for a walk through the bush. feeling GOOD!! Eating so well. Weigh 79.5 & will be happier when it drops down a little more & I don't feel quite so precariously in the 70's, but I am quite happy with where I am at the moment, xoxo Cate

Good job on taking care of you and getting on the bike for some exercise! Being a tourist host just wears me out...even if it is family, it's still a job! and Congratulations on being on the 70s'...I'm still in the 80's and love seeing your progress and the little:driving:guy on your ticker!

xo!

Sarah

Hi Sarah, It is tiring, but yesterday I took time out & stayed at home for most of the day. I did the 5k, then helped my LH get wood & then in the afternoon my sister & I went for a big walk around our block. It was quite exhausting. By the time we got back to the house we were tuckered out. So much so that my sister who was walking in front of me, walked within 1 metre of a snake & didn't see it! It was fairly big & went under our house!! Later on I was out on the decking, telling my LH & showing him where it had been & I commented on how some of our tomatoes are almost touching the ground. I pointed towards where & there was the snake! We yelled out for my sister to come look but it disappeared again behind a garden bed! She came out & we moved around, trying to get it out in the open. It stayed behind the bed. We went around the house & watched from outside the yard & saw it curled up in the sun. I was happy that my sister got to see a snake but not so happy that it was in our yard where the dogs go!

When our OGS arrived off the bus it was inside our yard again & he & my LH got a good look. They frightened it off into the paddock.

I rang our son, who has done a snake handling course & he rang back later to say it will most probably be a male who is travelling & will move on. We'll keep an eye out & let him know if it doesn't. We looked it up & feel sure that it's a Copperhead Snake. It was over a metre long.

Today- We are taking our Mum out for lunch somewhere & a bit of a drive around the countryside & then may just do a wander around the op shops & our local town.

Sunday I'm driving up Cradle Mountain & also taking our YS & his gf, who are both staying the night & then bussing it back.

I'm eating very well & have been very active. I may have to put a rocket up that little driving man in my signature as it would be nice to get down to 78. It might take a week or 2 off wine to do it, but do it I must.

Lots of love to all, xoxo Cate

I feel really fat & horrible today as we had battered fish, chips & salad for lunch yesterday. I hadn't had it for ages & had forgotten how awful it makes me feel later. Everything was fresh but it just doesn't agree with me. FRIED FOOD IS BAD!!!!

We have had some interesting wild-life experiences while my sister has been here & last night we had a bat in the Snooker room. I turned on an outside light & eventually we herded him out. At one stage he landed on my shirt but flew off before I could walk out with him. I'll attach a photo. We got a good close-up look at him on the curtains & my sister really loved it. He was a real cutie! He was a Little Forest Eptesicus.

Last night someone was shooting until very late. I rang the police room & reported it & they said they would send a car but when I rang back an hour later this woman I spoke to said that a car had gone up & thought they could work out where it was coming from but "It's private property & they probably have a permit anyway." She said that there's nothing they could do about it. I couldn't believe my ears! It made me feel sick. These people are shooting wallabies. I think I'm going to visit some of the nearer neighbours & start a campaign against this. I can't just let this go. I had chest pains last night over this.

I'm about to hop on my bike & do my minimum at the very least. My sister is showered & dressed & I'm nowhere near.

I did 11k yesterday.

Bye for now, xoxo Cate

wow snakes and bats and wallabies. what a zoo. it sounds like most of your week with exercise and food has been great. it was just the fish later. no fried food. bad. Have a good weekend and watch out for creatures!

Not a zoo! Tasmania, Australia( in "the bush") and I love it! Sometimes it feels like the wild west. It's great! I feel like I live in a nature documentary. LIFE IS GREAT!

Off to Cradle Mountain today with my LH, sis, OS & his GF. Will go to Devils At Cradle to see the Tasmanian Devils. Hopefully a friend of our son is working today so my sister can meet her. We'll come back tonight but our YS & his GF are staying the night. It's a beautiful day & it is quite hot- was 35oC yesterday- fairly hot for Tasmania.

Breakfast this morning- Oat toast with a little rhubarb chutney & fat-free mayo, with asparagus, avocado & a little smoked salmon. I'm ready for ANYTHING!

Lots of love to all, xoxo Cate

Enjoy Tasmania Cate! Sounds like a wonderful trip. Australia is on "my list" while I live here in China...one of these days! We'll likely take a cruise around there as the place is soooo big! Looks like you have been having a good time with family and getting in some exercise too! You go girl!

Sarah

I live in Tasmania  Sarah & Cradle Mountain is just over a 1.5 hour drive away. I haven't been up there though for about 20 years! :blush5: We had a great day- it was really HOT! We did some great short walks and also visited Devils At Cradle & got to pat a Tasmanian Devil. My LH drove & that was nice for a change. We took my sister, our YS & his GF (& left the 2 of them up there. They are staying the night in a spa cottage. ;)) What a great day!

AHeya cupcake :)

Oooh the snake sounds exciting, glad everyone got to see it. Is it poisonious? would it harm the dogs?

I can't eat battered fish and chips either, I have never been able to eat it really, it always smells so lovely but makes me feel so bloated and sick. I'm sorry it seems to have the same affect on you too :(
Yep, fried food is very bad! I just can't have any anymore.

Ooh a bat!! You get all the awesome wildlife there. There were a few at mum & dads farm when i lived there but we only ever caught glimpses of them as they flew around. I love Bats they are sooooo cute :)

I'm sorry to hear about the shooting :( that makes my blood boil too. I really can't understand how people get a kick out of killing animals. So sad :(

Tasmanian devils too, OK i am totally jealous now. I got a cuddle with a really cute puppy when i was out doing my run this morning but somehow that doesn't even come close!!!

Thank you so so much for all your wonderful support on my diary my lovely, lovely friend. Love and hugs Xxx :grouphug:

Kate I read your post out to my sister & said "You can see why I like her so much!" You're a darling & you GET me, which is what makes our online friendship so special & important to me. I am absolutely knackered, loving my sister's stay but oh so tired. Went over my cals today as I just wasn't up to doing ANYTHING. Life is good. I just wanted to say that I'm well & happy but busier than normal, for many reasons, but it is all positive. Hope all are well, love to you all, xoxo Cate

Did the bar all day today at the golf club & am really tuckered out! Kept within my cals just! Will pop back in the morning. Soooo tired! xo Cate
