Cate's Diary

Thanks, Rob, Liza & LaMa.
I'm very excited! I have made an appointment to meet a 10-yr-old female beagle(?) at the pound tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Good luck Cate, I hope she´s lovely!

10-yr-old female beagle(?)
Beagles are great dogs, very friendly, good pets. I have had 2, both were rescue dogs so probably not pure bread but they looked like beagles.

It is good of you to consider an older dog, not many people do.

Good luck with her.

Hi, Liza, Petal, 101 & Rob. I hardly slept last night. I stewed & stewed over everything, but mainly should I get a dog at all. My brain during the night is a different brain to the one I have during the day I swear. If I don't get her I will change our decking around so that if I do get a dog it will be better set up. If I do bring her home today I sure have some work to do. Mainly rearranging gardening stuff. There is one appointment before mine & she may go home with that person. I have mentally prepared myself for this.

That's a really solid roo there, in the photo from where your son is working! The ones I'm used to are much slenderer, or tall and rangy. I guess just environment? Or maybe a different sub-species? But yes, a great view from the "office"!

And wow, for the ten-year-old beagle! Fingers crossed for you (and for happy-ever-after for the beagle). :)

Hi, Amy. I think the Forresters or eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) are probably just "on a good paddock".
I'm really nervous about the dog. I just got another call from the home letting me know that someone is seeing her before me & they will ring me if they take her. I do want a dog. it was anxiety kicking in overnight. I rearranged my decking quickly before I left home. I have a kennel set up under a table under the eaves. I do need an indoors bed though & food & a car harness & maybe a harness/collar. The dogs home should sell this stuff...

I feel for you Cate with the anxiety around all this. It's definitely a big undertaking to take on a dog. I hope your mind settles around this. I guess the fates will be somewhat involved if the other people do decide to take her, no decision at all. If they don't I imagine just meeting her should give you a gut reaction on whether you two would be a good match!

Thanks, Liza. Fate decided. First person to see her adopted her-5 mins before me. I'll keep looking for a terrier.
Great news today- G's skin graft looks good & everyone is happy with it, including him. The plaster has gone.

That is truly great news about G's finger healing well!
And yes, as Petal says, the right dog will find you.

I agree with Petal and Liza, the right dog will find you and you will be happy for it.

Be glad the beagle got a good home, she will be happy.

Good news on the skin graft!

Hi, LaMa, Liza, Petal & Rob.
I am very happy that the beagle was adopted out. I thought that was lovely that someone else was prepared to rehome an old dog. G is very happy about his graft doing so well. We were both very relieved as he was getting fairly cranky about it.
Yesterday was a bit of a weird day though & we were both very inactive. We'll make up for that today.

Thanks, LaMa. We went for a big walk this morning & have done quite a bit of cooking & cleaning. I must admit my head isn't in the best of places today.

Good news on the finger healing . Lots of weird days right now and more to come .
Hope your head a bit better tomorrow Cate . I totally empathise :grouphug:
