Cate's Diary

So glad you had such a calm day Saturday - I love the sound of it - the Saturday papers, and watching your sons play pool via internet! And I hope that you're right now enjoying pleasant weather, strolling on the golf course in good company. (Or sitting, if you get woozy? Are there benches at the tees?)

Very interesting about working on how to not fruitlessly take on other people's emotions, Marsia, about focus.

Thank you Petal, Em, Marsia & Amy. I won't address each of you personally I'm sorry as I really don't feel great & I'm not at home. I'll ring the cardio for sure tomorrow as my BP was 90 something over 80 something this morning & my pulse was 83. I tried to play the first hole but was too woozy & I stopped before I holed out & swapped the cards around, put my clubs away not long after & just walked around with the group at my own pace until they had played 9 holes. I got my steps in but my fitbit won't sync in the clubhouse. It was a good walk.
I'm back in the clubhouse right now with my laptop, but someone keeps coming in & out & talking to me. I think he's just curious. I just had a chat to him as our social golf group website, which he organises has all our names, photos, actual addresses, mobile numbers & email addresses. It makes us ripe for identity theft. There are so many scammers about & one of our members was recently scammed by email from a scammer pretending to be our treasurer. He said to bring it up in front of the others today & I will. I'm far from paranoid, but there's no point setting ourselves up.
Someone is just arriving back to open up the bar. He's one of the rare, nice ones here. I will skedaddle for now I think & come back when I get home.

Very sensible to mention a vulnerable spot. I´m kind of afraid you won´t get any thank-yous for it, but at least you´ll have done your bit. I hope I´m wrong though! 90 over 80something would be immediate doctor time for my clients, even on Sundays, so please take care of yourself.

LaMa- I brought it up & everyone agreed to only having our names & photos, so that was good. I think it helped that everyone knew that one of our members got scammed.
I like our group & I feel comfortable enough & confident enough in their company to speak my mind.
I will definitely be ringing my cardio tomorrow, LaMa. I hate feeling like this.

Cate I hope you get that BP sorted soon. Sounds for sure like the meds need adjusting .
I'm a bit paranoid on the net and the scammers and hackers are rife . Glad you changing your info held on file to be restricted.

I'm sorry to hear you're having such trouble with the medication, Cate. My understanding is BP meds can be pretty powerful. I was on lisinopril and hctz for awhile. It did not have a major effect that I could tell but it was low dose and I was battling so many different side effects from other meds I can't be sure. My systolic is sometimes a little elevated but diastolic is in the 70s now. Does keeping a med diary help to sort out what's doing what and what's happening when? Seems like a big burden to sort through while you're experiencing difficult side effects. It's all very individual I keep hearing, throws off the "experts".

Thanks Amy! It's taken me ages to learn this, so thought it might help to share what I learned. The more I look at how to successfully change things about myself the more it is about attention and where to put it. I like how you call it focus - great word for it!

Hi Cate! Glad you got all your personal info off the website - yikes! My new computer got hacked the other day because I was trying to install Microsoft Office for work stuff and they give you this activation key where you have to go online to activate it. Well, once I put in the code, a scammer got control of the webpages, and I wound up with a help desk person who was not a Microsoft person at all. If I had been in less of a hurry, I probably would have realized this was not Microsoft, but I followed the directions on the software, and it got me to a scammer!

How did your sons do with the pool challenge? I agree, it's really nice you could watch via internet. I hope all goes well with fixing the medication dosage issue, and hope you are feeling much better!!

Very happy to hear they took you seriously!
Me too. I get so nervous speaking in front of a group, that I then don't take in what anyone says. I had to ask later if they agreed! :blush5:

Scammers are getting so sneaky (unlike most of the ones who come in here who are mostly obvious & often quite pathetic). I think most of us have to become more aware of their conniving ways & sometimes actually having someone you know scammed frightens people enough to be a lot more careful. It's the "It wouldn't happen to me" Ha!

I do react strongly to most medication, Rob so I have kept a journal of how I felt each day since I started with this one. My diastolic has never been high & my pulse has always been low, but this pill seems to have thrown it all into a hissy state. I think BP is one of the hardest things for doctors to get right. There's no way known I can work it out, that's for sure.

Yikes indeed, re getting that info off the computer & getting connected to a scammer. Wowsers!
They did well. D got further along & got some money back. After paying for his accommodation for a few nights he would have still been in front. I'm feeling good this morning after a very good night's sleep, but I haven't done anything yet. Still in my Pj's at 9.53 am
Marsia how did you work out it was not Microsoft and indeed a scammer ? Scary .
Cate hope you feel better x
Thanks, Petal & everyone for your nice comments.
I am not going to mention my BP again until I have been in touch with the cardio! I only took 1/2 a tab this morning.
There is snow in the rain out there this morning
Time to shower & get dressed. G is going to see a sleep specialist today.
:blush5:

Hi Petal, they wanted money to disassociate a supposed hacker site that had supposedly associated itself with our IP address. That is not even remotely correct, so I took screen shots of everything and brought the computer in to Apple. The man at Apple who fixed my computer was sympathetic as he had identity theft problems for 5 years!

Hi Cate, I know what you mean about getting nervous in a group and missing what was said. Groups are hard for me, too!

Glad you are taking good care of yourself and taking it easy, and hope you can enjoy the warm house while it sleets outside! I am actually a little jealous of people who get weather, having grown up with snow and sleet and things like that and rarely experiencing them now! I used to love going out in my nightgown and slippers with the first snow of the season as a kid!

Thanks, Marsia. Groups are hard, even when they are people I know & like. I would have gone outside too, but just at that time G's wood cutting friend arrived & I hid! :blush5:

Well done, you! on alerting the club to the folly of having everyone's info out there, waving in the breeze, attracting (potentially) all sorts of undesirable attention. And well done them, for listening and changing the way things were set up. I suspect you're a woman of greater influence in the community than you realise! :)
Wishing you a calm, easy day today, and best wishes for the sleep study, for G.

Thank you, LaMa! That makes me feel very special. I love our community! :grouphug:

G is going to have a machine on him overnight to monitor his sleep & I am going to sleep in another bed as he usually sleeps on his stomach & won't be able to. I think it will take us ages to attach it & then remove it in the morning without ripping off skin
AND I rang the cardio, spoke to the receptionist, emailed all my readings & they are going to ring me back. I also said that I have only taken half a pill this morning & yesterday morning, but a full one at night. I said I would be happy to go back in to see him again soon, but asked if I can drop it back to half morning & night until I do get to see him. I'm waiting to hear back, but feel much better now that I have rung. I hate bothering people, especially busy people. I'm sure he sees people a lot worse than me.

Probably. But he´d be devastated to hear you struggled so much in-between appointments and didn´t say something so you definitely did the right thing. Also, as a general rule (for myself as much as for you): suffering is not a competition where only the "winner" deserves help.

I'm glad I rang, LaMa. I'm not into suffering, don't worry. I'm no martyr.
I'm spending too much time online at the moment & not getting enough exercise. I'm looking forward to being able to get back into regular exercise without being so short of breath & dizzy. Doing nothing doesn't have me dizzy. Doing nothing has me bored & frustrated! Hopefully, very soon......

I hope it worked well with G and the sleep monitoring machine. I agree with LaMa, your doctor would not want you to undergo any suffering just to avoid bugging him! I'm really glad you called him!! Could you do some Tai Chi or some form of exercise where you do gentle stretches or something like that? Sorry you are feeling bored and hope you find something nice and satisfying to do today!

Hi Cate glad you made that phone call . Good luck with it . Be interesting to hear about the sleep results .

Air is chilly here too . Coming early this year
