Cate's Diary

I'm so glad your son had such a good Saturday (if it was Saturday! I get confused with all the time zones.) And glad you had that respite as well. :)

Thank you, LaMa, Marsia & Amy :beating:
It's a much better feeling this morning, after a sound night's sleep as well. I'm typing this while I'm drinking my coffee.
In Australia, right now it is 7.43 am on Sunday, in Vienna it is 11.43 pm on Saturday, in California, it is 2.43 pm on Saturday. Mostly we are ahead in time compared to the US from between 14-17 hours.
I had better have a quick look around.

This helps so much - it's 8am tomorrow there when it's 3pm here - got it! And very glad you are doing better!

Love,

M

Hi, Marsia & LaMa :grouphug: I enjoy the differences. It took me years to get my head around it, but my older sister lived in the US for so long that I just had to learn.
We had a lovely day/night away. Our team got absolutely flogged & it was SO cold & uncomfortable, but we ended up going to our son's home afterwards & he had cooked us a delicious curry. I am so proud of how well he is doing, even with last week's heartache. He has been blitzing his house, getting it ready to sell. Already his next door neighbour has made him a very generous cash offer.
We have only been home for about an hour & I am glad to be home as I usually don't sleep well when I am away & last night was no exception. I ate well & also had one less meal as we had a late breakfast today. G is cooking a corned beef right now, which we'll eat with lots of veggies, followed by a fruit platter. Our fruit & veggie shop is under new management, thank goodness & I am going to shop there from now on, rather than at the supermarket. I stocked up last week & the quality is really good. The previous owners should never have been in a shop as they were the grumpiest pair imaginable. We have pineapple, watermelon, apples, oranges, grapes & bananas & we'll have a little of each maybe. We are going away next weekend too, but for 2 nights, instead of one. Next time I think I will take some cut up fruit with me.
I might just potter around FB for a while.

So glad you had such a good visit with your son! The curry, corned beef, and all the fruit are making my tummy rumble! Bringing fruit snacks sounds really good. Hope you catch up on sleep tonight, and happy you had such a good weekend!

Thanks, LaMa & Marsia, xoxo
It was a lovely weekend.
I weighed myself this morning & I weighed 1.5 kg more than last Tuesday. This must be water weight I know, but, even so- grrrrr. I have tracked everything I have eaten & drunk every day this month & am at about 1400-1500 each day. I often swell up on long car drives & yesterday & the day before were no exception. I'll weigh again on Thursday & Friday I think. I have that ap't to see my cardio on the 29th of this month & can't wait to ask him for a recommendation for a change in meds & also if I can do 16:8 or 5:2. I need to try something different.

Its not real weight gain, as you say probably just water.

I have been doing the weigh yourself everyday thing, more than once most days. It has given me some idea as to how much your weight can bounce around, and I am starting to understand why. My weight can easily go up or down 3 lbs in one day, but over a week or so the trend becomes clear. On my official weigh in days I use a kind of average and call it my "official" weight for the week. I think that is more accurate. Just need to be sure that keeping the weight low though not drinking (water) or something irrational doesn't become an obsession, not a problem so far.

Glad things with your son are getting better.

Thanks, Rob. It should only be fluid retention & I'll weigh until it disappears again, hopefully very soon!

I really hope IF will work for you again. I had wondered if last time stress was just messing with your blood pressure or something. I remember that was when R was looking at that land and it seemed like he was going native "Into the Wild". (My blood pressure would have skyrocketed with all that!)

If you do get the ok, I would love to calorie count and do IF with you. I need to calorie count again, so will start that and get back in sync with you!

I feel you about the weight gain - I'm away from home again, and I think I put on 2 kg in four days. :( But quickly on can be quickly off? I'm hoping so anyway!

Wed. am & it's raining, windy & cold, so no golf for me today. I don't mind one little bit. I stayed up until after midnight last night watching Le Tour as the rain had been predicted for today. I couldn't see out the end though as I was drifting off.
I think I will try to do IF, starting tomorrow. I don't feel like waiting until I see the cardio. I might start taking my BP meds at lunchtime though. I'll try again to find some info on that....... I think I will wait until after I see him.
Hi, Amy. I hope you have better luck than me with getting it off. My body does not want to let it go :(
I had better get moving soon. I'll ride my exercise bike today I think & then tomorrow I will do lots of exercises. I have fished out my EP's list & will try getting back into it.

I feel your pain. My body does not want to let the weight go either. It only comes off if I intermittent fast, count calories, and do keto. I think I am going to have to watch my calories the rest of my life or just get a way more active lifestyle. It's ok because it forces me to be healthy, but it definitely isn't easy!

Glad you enjoyed your rainy day off!

Thanks, Rob. I hope it will turn around soon. My body sure hangs on to this weight.
Thanks, Marsia. I must admit it is driving me bananas. I really want to do IF, but everywhere I look it advises me not to with my BP meds, so I am trying not to think about it. If G plays golf tomorrow I think I'll do a day without BF or lunch & just eat with him in the evening. It won't kill me, right? ;)

Hi, Amy. I hope you have better luck than me with getting it off.
I'm back visiting in a scales-free house, so I don't know what luck I'm having at all. It probably would have been better without the bread-and-butter I just had with my meal. :(

I don't know a thing about blood pressure medicine, as my blood pressure is usually a little low. But it seems like fasting is a stress on the body, and last time did your blood pressure go up when you were just fasting or can you tell if it was the fasting + the stressful time you were going through? Do you have a blood pressure testing kit at home so you can monitor if it goes up? I just looked on Amazon and they aren't very expensive. I like your idea of trying it just one day and seeing how it feels. Good luck!!!
