Cate's Diary

Thanks, LaMa. Usually, when we go away I walk & walk & walk & that negates any meals out.
Hi, Marsia. I really don't want to even attempt to reduce my eating window as I struggle with the 8. I assumed that if you eat less than maintenance calories in the 8-hour window that you would lose weight. I wouldn't be able to do it on our trip either as most days we have included breakfasts & dinners with the group. I have also been quite dizzy & last night I felt quite ill. I have had to set an alarm on my phone to take my BP meds at midday, rather than first thing in the morning with breakfast. This has meant that I have needed to get up more during the night to pee as my meds also include a diuretic. My system didn't adjust in those 2 weeks that I tried it either & I have been struggling with constipation. It was worth a try.
I'm back to counting calories & will have a rethink. Just cutting out wine for a whole month I feel sure will make a big difference.
Thanks, Petal. I have to confess that I didn't get on my bike as I got distracted & actually forgot all about it. I did have an active day cleaning though. I am really going to keep going with de-cluttering our house. I need to find a way to sell some stuff though as it's no use just putting things away in a cupboard.
Day 1- BF. Had 1 Ryvita with some hummus & tomato & another Ryvita with some quark, a little cherry jam & some blueberries. 150 cals.
G made a delicious smelling lamb & veggie soup yesterday & I am having some of that for lunch. He has gone off to play golf today & I have a day at home on my own which will be nice.
Today I should do some inside exercises-bike & Barbie weights maybe? I think I will leave outside walking for when he is at home, with all the snake activity lately.

So sorry you are having dizziness problems and all. Good you are going back to counting calories and being cautious about things!! Are you going to the cardiologist soon?

No dizziness today. I hope I get an appointment soon. Apparently, he is very busy. I hate nagging, but I might ring tomorrow. I can't be certain that the local medical centre actually sent the referral through.
I have had a good day today. G has only been home for a little while. He really wants me to go with him to 8-ball as one of his players wants the night off. It's a final & it's at the pub I don't go to after the owner got very aggressive one night & ear-bashed us all. It is also the pub where the captain of the club drinks & his gf does the bar. I just told him I'm not qualified to play & he realised that is right.
Phew! The guy who said he can't play just rang to say he could. YAY!

I assumed that if you eat less than maintenance calories in the 8-hour window that you would lose weight.
That should normally definitely be the case.
Glad you´re feeling better today, dizziness is only fun at fairs. And calling a medical center to ask about an appointment isn´t nagging, it´s taking care of yourself.

Day 2 of my new "plan" today. Yesterday was successful. I am experimenting with myself again.
I couldn't finish my breakfast so will experiment with portions. I tried having avocado & eggs on toast but one egg & 1 piece of toast would have done me. I do want to have enough breakfast to last me 5 hours though, so tomorrow I will try something different- maybe porridge with almond milk.
I'm going to aim at 1400 cals per day & a walk every day.

Cate hope you are feeling better now . Do try phoning for your appointment. Dizzy is not nice I know ( not even at fun fairs for me LaMa , I have been known to throw up lol ) .
I hate going anywhere where I have had a negative experience. Wouldn't like going back to that pub at all .

Hi, Petal. The dizziness I think was related to the fasting in the mornings affecting my BP meds. Now that I have stopped IF I am not dizzy. I will ring today I promise.
I have told G that I am not going back to that pub. I have a choice these days.

up to us to use them
It is up to us. It always was, but the difference is that now I do choose what is right for me, rather than what others think is right for me. That doesn't mean that I don't feel guilty about it sometimes, but I am getting better at that. I can't imagine becoming totally selfish.

Ha, I read your comment, " I can't imagine becoming totally selfish." And right below it is your quote, and the sentence, "Self-care is not selfish." That!

I love this forum & my forum friends!
I rang the cardio today after another snake encounter :)
He is not there on a Thursday, so I'll ring again tomorrow. Yes. I promise.
We picked the younger GK's off the bus & fed them. D, their Dad picked them up at 6 & I took him up to show him where we have seen the Copperhead. I heard it, but he saw it. He is going to call in tomorrow after work & see if he can relocate it to our bush. He has done the snake catchers course & has started keeping his kit in his car again. It is a very big snake he agreed.

Good guy D, taking care of his mom :)
He is LaMa. I think this big snake may well be a very pregnant female when I think about it. M, our neighbour down the bottom of the hill has had a tiger snake give birth under a shipping container he has right next to his house. Tiger snakes can give birth to 20-30 young, Copperheads 6-12. He kills them when he sees them, even though they are protected.
We are doing another big house clean today as friends from Melbourne are calling in tomorrow. We have had a big outbreak of small dark moths for some reason in our house & they appear everywhere, usually dead. I can't spray the house because of my MCS. I have bay leaves & cinnamon oil & cloves everywhere, but I don't think it's helping much.
I almost forgot.
When I went to pick up A from work last night there was a cow on the narrow road, not far from the highway. Someone had flashed their lights at me so I knew something was coming up. I tried shooing it into someone's drive, but it wasn't keen so I left it there & went into town to get A. I dropped him back home & when I came back up it was in the same place just next to the road. I pulled over & heard voices so sung out for them to come to help me & we shooed it further up a driveway. It was funny. I knew them both & they had been drinking obviously & kept saying how much they missed G at the golf club. "Just when I was starting to play well & I can't tell him!" One of them was going to ring the neighbour to say watch out for a cow coming your way. I hope he remembered.
M2M- Our son works for parks & wildlife & really has a way with animals & reptiles. He is not afraid of them at all, but is smart & will be careful. It's fairly exciting when you see them, but this is a little bit too close for comfort.

It's like you are living in a wildlife adventure show. Hope he catches the copperhead before it has babies. Things I never thought to worry about!!! Hopefully soon your cow herding, snake spotting, moth cloving days will be behind you!
