Cate's Diary

Very glad to hear you had such a good experience with the new salon! Anxiety sucks but we are what we are.

Thanks, Cowboy :) I should enjoy it once we're there.
Anxiety does suck LaMa. I'm not feeling too bad today. I'm off to golf today. I haven't missed a day for ages! I'm enjoying their company more & more as I get to know them better & vice versa I think. Most of them went to lunch together last Thursday, but I didn't go because they get all fragranced up when they go out & I didn't want to get sick before we go away. They are having another lunch at the end of May apparently & I think I'll go to that one as it's for a woman who has only this year stopped playing golf & she's about to turn 90th. 90!!! I'll try to stay up on end of the table away from the smelliest ones.
Back to read diaries before I go xoxo Cate

Golfing is a great way to kill two birds with one stone with exercise and socialising! Never done it myself but everyone I speak to says so. Although as you say it's only if you enjoy the company of the people who are there!

Being that active at 90 sounds like #life goals. Shame about the smelly ladies though!
The 90-year-old woman(J) is a fascinating woman. She has travelled extensively & is very intelligent.
I played with G yesterday & another woman(A) & told them why I didn't go to the lunch. A said she would make sure to not wear perfume at the next lunch. G said she wished I had gone. I said I would go to the next one. I think it will be the week we get back.
Mwahaha, this made me laugh
To them, they smell lovely, to me they stink. It makes me so ill. A room with 12 women, all with different perfumes, hairspray, hand lotion, makeup, fabric softener........makes my head spin just imagining the toxic overload!
What day are we on of the countdown Cate? Is it two weeks you're going for?
Only 2 days now Emily. We'll be away from the 6th to the 23rd of May.

I love golf & am enjoying the company of the women more & more as we get to know one another better. I am more open with them & less self-conscious with them. I spoke openly to one of the older women(G) yesterday about how I felt when I first started trying to fit in when most of them had known one another & played golf together for decades.

Things never really change, do they? Getting to know new folks, navigating allergy traps, anxiety over things we can´t control... When I was 16 I thought all of that would become normal and easy once I was "older". Well, that´s 20 years ago and nothing has changed (except for the allergies; they got worse). Have all the fun on your trip!

Have fun on your trip
Thanks Rebel. I will :)

They don't LaMa. G & I will do our very best to have fun :)
Ha, I guess you are more low-key with your appearance than the other ladies then?
You could say that Emily. This is not about how young women think they should look(that's another whole, sad story) but more about the weird thing that has happened to most people thinking they have to be drowned in a toxic "blend" of chemicals- not only perfume but fragranced makeup, lipstick, hairspray, fabric softener, shampoo, conditioner.......Very rarely are they the same fragrance & mostly they are bad for you. Makeup looking like it has been put on with a trowel looks tragic. Whoops. I'll stop now.

Only one more day & this is the time I start adding & subtracting normally. I slept well last night, which was good. We'll get back to cold & I'm trying to think what I can take to wear on the way back that won't take up much space, but be warm. This is the bit I hate about travel. Once I'm on that plane I'll be right.
G rang our friend, A, who is from SL, last night & told him about our trip & that was good. He gave us some good tips.

We're about to hop on the 1st of 3 planes & I feel relaxed & very positive. My bag weighs only 11kg & G's 12( I did sneak a few things in his). Our bags are checked all the way through, which is great.
Bye for now xoxo Cate

Safe travels....

I am having an absolute ball! We are flat out most of the time but I am loving it! I sure will be dieting when I get home. Breakfast, lunch & dinner is usually a buffet!
I can't possibly tell you what we have been doing in one post & I think I need to get an early night. I am keeping a written diary so will try to describe our trip when I get home. Our guide, the group, the country, the people, the food, the wildlife, flora, fauna.....are all wonderful!
Have had the most exciting moment of my life- up close & very personal with a very angry elephant & lived to tell the tale!
I had always planned on buying some new earrings but today bought a beautiful ring. I ended up with a matching bracelet. I'll tell you the story when I get home. My husband is lovely.
I had better get some shuteye- we leave Kandy in the morning at 8.30, for Nuwara Eliya. It should be cooler. It's 1800 metres above sea level.
'night all xo
