Cate's Diary

Hi, Emily- I think we have to remind ourselves that we are trying & making an effort. So many people don't take any responsibility for their health. We are having a go!
Hi, LaMa. Playing well is betting than playing badly, but hey.....I have a sense of humour & am good at laughing off my bad shots. It's exercise! Thanks for the hug sweets xoxo
I am really starting to get very excited about our trip now that it is ONLY 9 DAYS AWAY!!!!

:) I'm flying (next) Friday. I know exactly where I'm going and what to expect and I'm excited/slightly nervous so I can't imagine how *you* must be feeling :)

I'm trying not to get too nervous about it LaMa. This time next week might be different! Are you going home?

Yep, my sister and her kids are coming to visit next week and I´ll fly back with them for the week after that. Looking forward to it!
By the way: S, who was in Sri Lanka 3 years back, says to be very careful not just with ice cubes and washed fruit but also with bottled water. Apparently you shouldn´t just check the cap but also feel if the bottle is still under pressure (possible puncture holes). Not sure how realistic the risk is, but I´m passing it on regardless.

Visiting your family with your sister & her kids will be lovely LaMa. Happy times, surrounded by the people you love :beating:
G & I bought one of these, before our last trip (& didn't use it as the water in Italy & France was really good) but we will certainly be using it in SL. https://www.camelbak.com/en/bottles/R02001--All_Clear?color=b68c99aff644416cb6387f164892b5d5
It's a beauty. We will have electric kettles in most of our rooms so I will make sure we boil their water & put it through our filter. We'll be extra careful.

G & I are off to watch an AFL football match. I got free tickets to see our team(the Saints) play against the Hawks. Both teams are Melbourne teams, but they are playing in Launceston, which is only 60km away. We'll have fun.

Enjoy the game :)

I wish sometime I lived close enough to watch my football team play lol, at least they televised last nights game (Eels Won :D )

We had a lovely time thanks, Tru. Well done Eels & well done the Saints! :D
Thanks, LaMa.We loved it as our team played the best I think I have ever seen them play & won by a huge margin! (130 to 55 points)
We caught up with some friends & felt on top of the world.
Only 6 more days & we are away!

Hey Cate. It's me Sarah! hope you are still well! I'm back again..got the 30 pounds I gained over the past 4 years to take off!

Ha ha LaMa. We won by a Methuselah( of champagne)!
Hey, Sarah!!! It's great having you back, my friend. I might have to dust myself off & go back to logging on MFP :)
I just had to take one of our neighbour's sheep back to her place. It has decided that our garden is much tastier than our neighbour's paddock obviously. She even started eating a cactus yesterday. I had planted a small garden just outside our gate & she has demolished that & has started working on our house garden. I drew the line when she came up to our door & started on a Yukka! Grrr. I'll have to ring our neighbour & ask her to put her in a paddock where she can't escape. She just leaps over cattle grids like a goat! I would hate to come back from our holiday to find 20 years of planting gone :(
I have been thinking about packing but Iknow what I'm like. I would just pull everything out & agonise over every decision & re-think it all. I wish I didn't get so anxious about it all. Once we're gone I'm right. I don't worry about terrorists etc. I worry that I have the right clothes (not in a fashion sense).
Only 5 days!

Hi LaMa & Emily & anyone else reading my diary.
I did pack yesterday & think I'll be ok with it. I am really anxious about the trip. I know that is getting worse. Hopefully, once we're on that plane I'll be right.
I'm having a haircut this morning at one of the local hairdresser's. One of the women at golf had a great haircut, so I thought I would try to get mine cut the same, by the same woman. I really hope I don't get exposed to hairspray, perms etc. It REALLY affects me badly now. I am getting so much more allergic.
I have to leave early so will pop back in later, xoxo Cate

Oh, I love getting my hair done, it's so soothing when they wash it and condition it. I just lie back and close my eyes, it feels really nice.

Your trip will be fantastic, don't be stressed, travel is always fun and exciting. You're getting outside your comfort zone, that's a great thing. After the tough time you and G went through with his health, you deserve this break. Enjoy it hon.

The nervousness may play a role in the allergic reactions. I really hope the people in the salon will be sensible - though I´m afraid most hair/beauty places are hellholes with more perfume than oxygen.

Those days are long gone now, Emily. I used to love it. Now I can't be even close to hairdresser's products. I'm trying hard not to stress & I know I'll have a lovely time. I just need to get on that plane!

I hadn't thought of that, even though I have had anxiety asthma before. The experience in the hairdressers was a really positive one. I was the first one there & the 2 hairdressers were not at all noticeably perfumed at all. There was only myself & one other person getting her haircut. The other woman had just recently been to Sri Lanka & loved it. I had never set eyes on her before. I got a great cut & will go back there next time. They were really understanding as well. All in all, a really good experience & a nice, very short haircut :D

Today was really cold. It was such a shock. Winter- you & I are not friends :(
Ryan, if you read this. By adding you to Fitbit I decided I had better go for a decent walk. We can inspire one another.
I'm going to miss the forum if I can't connect while I'm in Sri Lanka. It is a part of my life now.
When I wake up tomorrow it will only be 3 days!

Ahh glad you treated yourself to a haircut Cate - sounds lovely. I understand your anxiety about your trip - it's exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time!

It is Hana. I wish I didn't get so anxious, but I don't think I can change that. I can only try!
