Cate's Diary

I'm going to recap that second article as "eat real food with plenty of herbs ans spices" :p Couldn't agree more!

I know, chef. It hit me for 6 I must admit & explains an awful lot! I feel it applies to those who have lost a lot of weight very quickly, but haven't had the heart to go back & read it again, just yet!

Forgot to say- did 60 squats yesterday.
I have read the article again & leptin re-booting articles & thought about posting the NY times article in a new thread. For now, I am going to continue with doing IF, but also limit my fruit intake to 2 a day. I think losing weight very quickly is a mistake, but I can't undo the past. I'm going to make an appointment to see the doctor as I am interested in finding out if leptin was one of the things I was tested for in my last fasting blood tests. I asked for a print-out, but when I read it at home it was only a copy of the request for blood tests & not the results.
G has often commented on how hungry I get & I think he sees it as a bit of a weakness. I have been much better about hunger since doing IF, but I do seem to get hungrier than he does. He has never been overweight in his life & can eat whatever he wants to. He never eats junk food though, but loves bread. The rest of his family have issues with their weight & there is a family history of diabetes, yet his sugar levels are good. He is not a sweet tooth.
I had better get moving. It's actually a lovely day. It was meant to rain, but the sun is shining :D

Hi Cate!

I've been reading through your diary :). Wonderful success you've had so far! I look forward to reading more of your updates. It's inspiring to see you still on here after so many years!

I think I need to invest in a really good raincoat & make myself go for walks, even if it's raining. I do find it much harder to motivate myself in Winter xo

Winters ARE much harder, but YOU can do it! Just seen you did 60 squats yesterday!! Amazing :D When living in England I used to hate rainy weather but then got myself an amazing pair of shiny Hunter wellies hahah totally overpriced but soooo comfy!! If they are good for the Queen they sure are good for me haha. Seriously they were great. Had to give them away when moving to China but I defo got out of the house more when I had them.

Thanks Ingmar & Delsid
I am nothing if not persistent. Very persistent!
I have done 20 squats today, but have added 2x2kg(ie Barbie weights) & did some tricep curls plus some other exercises I have forgotten the name of. I'm actually feeling lazy today & am about to put my head in a book.
Am going to have a "fast day"(500 cals) tomorrow.

Had a lazy day yesterday. Did another 30 squats in the afternoon, read a book, drank some red wine, ate well (with a little bit of chocolate).
I'm about to head to the market even though it's raining. I tried on my "skinny" stretchy stripey pants this morning & they fit. I did a bit of a bum wiggle at G & he admired my derriere & then said "don't you go doing that at the market, will you?" :D I haven't been able to do them up for a couple of years. I actually changed though as the catch is broken. I'll fix them later. I feel they're my party pants or live music pants. I wish I could find another pair just like them as they're getting a bit worn out. I bought them at an op shop in the first place.

I had better skedaddle. I want to buy some GF slice, cakes etc, before they're sold out, to put in the freezer. They are great for Sunday night "treats" & as a dessert when family come for dinner.
Did 30 squats this morning. Have to do at least 5km on my bike later as no golf. Fasting today. Will weigh again tomorrow.

I know LaMa. It sure felt like a major win. Even looking side on I am looking pretty slim now. Not skinny- slim. I like it :D
Surviving my fast day fairly well. I bought some white miso paste & had 15g of that in a cup of hot water at 2pm(31 cals) & then at 4pm I had 10g of beef jerky(36 cals) & 35g of blueberry yoghurt(47 cals). I have been buying full fat yoghurt instead of low-fat, but won't be having it on "fast" days again. 35g is nothing! I have dinner plated up & will have it about 6pm- Konjac noodles, 2 hard-boiled eggs & some casserole veg(218 cals). Total 332 cals, so room for something else after dinner.
Did an hour's gardening, instead of riding my exercise bike. I have decided to put in a garden near our entrance. Next job- rock border, followed by some ground cover.

Oh, it is Delsid. I just feel so much better, when I don't feel fat. 5kg more than I am right now & I do feel fat. I can't believe I once weighed 31kg more & didn't really feel that fat. It's very weird. Mind you, it also took me years to accept I was no longer that big person. The brain is a weird & wonderful thing.
I am so used to doing squats now, just like I am used to fasting 2 days a week. It feels strange when I don't. My knees complain, though- crack!
I am off to the coast to see the podiatrist for a follow-up for my orthotics & then a 45-minute appointment at the dentist to replace some old fillings that have come out. As much as I like our dentist, I still dislike going. We'll do some wine shopping & probably buy some fish.
Hope everyone had a good weekend & didn't over-indulge, xoxo Cate.

Mind those knees, Cate, you only get one proper pair. Are the muscles/tendons sore or is it the joint itself? Remember about stretching and have someone check your squat-form some time.

Thanks LaMa & Stacy. I got one of the golfing women, who's a crossfit nut, to check out my squat form & she says it's good. The Podiatrist actually gave me some stretching exercises to do after I joked about the orthotics not fixing my arthritic pain in my right hip & my cracking knees. I told her I do squats every day. She had noticed last visit that I had tight calf muscles. I have done the stretches this morning & 20 squats. I'll do them a couple of times a day & check out a new routine. I need something I can do every day & continue to do. I'll be careful.
Yesterday-
Podiatrist- see above. All good.
Dentist- 2 new fillings(no injections), did some wine shopping, meat shopping, bought a new raincoat($6 op shop :D ), Chinese lunch & home by 1.15pm :D
I'm fasting again today as then I have the rest of the week to do one more. Probably Sat as G will be playing golf.
It looks like the rain will holf off for him to play golf today & it's almost time to leave. Love to all, xoxo Cate

Hi Cate, just catching up on the last few pages. Looks like things are going well between the IF and the bum wiggles. Keep up the great work!

Thanks, LJ. It feels good to be back on track. I think I would lose more if I was moving more & I must start going for walks again. I'm playing golf today with the women. There's snow on the mountains & it's very windy, but the sky is mostly blue. I'm playing with a lovely woman & we should have fun. Hopefully, we'll stay out of the wet spots. Middle of the fairway is all I'm going to try for today. I'm not going to try to hit it a mile(never works anyway). I'm going for consistency. I can do it! :smilielol5:Because of her long handicap we are in C Grade. We should be a reasonable chance. We are in a group of 3 pairs, so it won't be quick. I would like to play better than I have been lately.
I had better get moving. I don't like being rushed, but I also like to start my day the same each day & my day starts with the forum(after breakfast).

Thanks, Delsid. I had a lovely day. Our golf was OK, but not great. We got around fairly fast & the group that were after us still hadn't finished well over an hour later. I felt guilty but I didn't wait & came home. Next week is the final week of the championships & is also my birthday & I will stay. It was just too long to wait & it was very cold today. I borrowed G's new golfing vest & I must buy one of my own. It was so warm & so comfortable! Winter has arrived! It was incredibly windy today! I got around the course easily today & didn't struggle physically as I usually do. I think the squats have made a big difference! I really just wanted to come home to my warm house & be with my lovely husband. I feel like being a hibernating bear in Winter, but I'm still glad I got out there and played.
Enjoying a very nice Cabernet Shiraz Merlot (Houghton from West Australia). About to have lamb chops & vegetables for dinner. Life is good! I'm weighing 7kg less than I did last August & 31kg less than I did back in 2007. Not too shabby.
