Casey's Diary!

Here are some pics of me playing volleyball...I'm the girl in the purple shorts. It's great to look at a picture and not think about how fat I look anymore!

Just catching up on your diary and it looks like you've got some powerful momentum going on ALL fronts right now! The pics are cute...you look very athletic and healthy.

Things have been going decent lately. Monday was about 2400 cals and yesterday was around 2200. These numbers sound really big but I'm getting plenty of exercise in and trying to eat the right foods. I averaged about 80g of protein both days. Today I'm going to swim at 1, and then I will go on a long run if the weather permits. If not, I'll get on the treadmill and do an interval workout. I didn't work out yesterday, so I'd like to make up for it instead of skipping it altogether.

The tragedy at VA Tech is really getting to me...as a college student I feel this connection with other college students around the country. Tests, essays, parties, deadlines, money shortages, etc., are things that every college student goes through in every state. I just couldn't imagine the pain and fear an attack like this would bring on my campus. I guess the only thing you can take from it is that you never know when your life will end, so do something everyday that makes you proud---be healthy, spread happiness, and make sure your friends and family know that you love them.

Yeah, my first thought was for the parents and families of all those students. So many innocent, promising lives cut short. And you are so right, it brings home the uncertainty of "tomorrow"...we have to remember to say and show "I love you" today.

It was a tragic happening that hopefully wont ever happen again.
Try not to stress to much about it, though i know its pretty worrying.

The school shootings are beyond devastating. Death affects EVERYONE and I can hardly imagine the fear and pain everyone involved is going through. I can't even imagine being a student at that school! And what about the building it happened in? Talk about awful vibes *shudder*.

My boyfriend took his mom to the hospital today. I'm scared--she was feeling chest pain and tingling arms. It happened before, Monday. She's in the middle of nowhere, SC Mountains, and it took the ambulance 40 minutes to get there. She called my Honey, when she felt it again today, and he drove like an asshole from his work--and probably got there in 20 minutes, I bet. He said it was scary, driving! I can imagine, he drives like a maniac on HWY 9 anyway! Well, she's in her early fifties, overweight, and a smoker. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women--if she kicks the bucket anytime soon I'm going to freak out! I love her and I'm so sick of people dying in my life :( Plus my poor Honey--he has not lost someone like a close, close grandmother or parent before and I can't imagine how he'd act. Oh god I need to stop--sorry about this post, I need to stick it in my own diary.

Have a great day.

Thanks, Casey--Cindy's tests came back fine. But we all are wary now. Deanne says she may have angina, but of course, no one knows for sure. I really wish she would stop smoking cigarettes.

Cigarettes are a terrible habit. I unfortunately picked it up when I worked at Waffle House a few years ago. It took me nearly a year of trying, but I quit almost a year ago. :) Words can't express how much better I feel about my health and myself.

Lost a half inch off the waist! Woo hoo!

I went and ate Chinese with my dad last night---ate a ton but lots of delicious veggies!

I ate like a HOG yesterday. Go lean and chocolate soymilk for breakfast, which was fine, but I ate a cookie, a piece of wedding cake, and fruits and veggies at the wedding reception I went to. Plus there was a full bar so I drank quite a bit. Then my father took me out to dinner where I had cheesey/garlicky bread and pasta with marinara sauce. Hopefully today will be better. I plan on getting a long run in today, either this afternoon or after I get back to Martin. I'm still looking for a place to live, quite desperately I might add...by May 12 I have to be moved out of my dorm room. Very stressful.

First apartment! Yay you! That ranks right up there with "first's" you'll never forget...first boyfriend, first car, first credit card, first husband:) One big stress off your mind...hope you get lots of great housewarming gifts. Of course you could always have two hw parties...one for friends that would be fun and net lots of cool but basically useful stuff (houseplants?) and another one for parents and relatives sure to bring in the stuff you'll actually need (cash?):)

Thanks! I've been saving my money for quite awhile so I'm going to try to buy a lot of stuff myself with a little help from my parents. I have a bedframe and chest picked out online, and a really cool computer desk. I'd also like to buy a big set of bookshelves for our living room. I have lots of good ideas, haha!

Sorry about the stress--and congrats on the apt!
