Casey's Diary, Part Deux!

That's a good idea! Hate to waste food though....but if it's over-processed, fatty/sugary crap with no nutritional value, what are you really wasting? Food for thought...pardon the pun...

My sister does this thing that gets on my nerves but seems to have worked... when she does end up getting a dessert or something she will eat some of it & then dump pepper or hot sauce or an obscene amount of salt on it & then push it away since its now inedible. Cuts herself off.... course sucks for the rest of those at the table that would have enjoyed a bite.

I have heard of models doing that!

I'm sorry about the coworkers making things hard!

They are going to put a CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN in our workroom with all kinds of stuff to dip in it!

I have to try and stay away from that all day! :ack2:

Chocolate fountain!?!?! I'd probably end up going for a swim in it....
Food intake hasn't been as healthy as I've wanted it to be. It's hard to limit yourself after eating as much as possible for two months. Getting back into exercise after a week off. Eh, stuff's okay. Finals are next week...Not looking forward to it!

My work has been tempting me so bad lately. Its funny, every housewife in Utah seems to think that they are a gourmet pastry chef or something, and then they make their husbands bring it into work and leave it in the breakroom. I'm learning to say no but, for some reason I kind of feel like I'm being mean (even though rationalizing it in my head tells me I'm not). Food and the reasons you eat it can be so complicated sometimes.

LOL! That's hilarious!

That is funny and true.

I was invited to a cookie exchange and denied it. I can't imagine going to a house FULL of different cookies! I would feel so rude turning everyone's cookies down at a cookie exchange! What's the point in going? But if I sampled just 1 of every cookie, that would add up to a whole bunch of calories!!!

I also find it annoying when people bring crap food to work and offer it around. You should freak them out by bringing in a big tray of fruit or veggies. I bet people would find that weird... but WHY? I don't understand why people are generally more delighted to share in unhealthy behaviors than health-promoting behaviors.
Congrats x 1 000 000 on a great half-marathon!

Congratulations on the half Marathon!
I was due to run one in November, but developed athsma suddenly (probably cause of the stress of the marathon!) so I didn't feel up to doing it.

Good luck for finals!

Austin 88---

I have asthma too. It's tough to deal with sometimes but if you really want to finish a half-marathon don't let it get in your way.

Eating has been awful lately! FINALS WEEK! At least I got a great workout Saturday. I want to run on the treadmill this evening but school has to come first right now.

Wow Casey. I don't have asthma and I'm actually not too familiar with it. When you do your big runs do you have to be careful so that it doesn't flair up? Or how do you manage it?

Good luck on your finals. You gotta put school first, for sure:)

I used to find my asthma flared up slightly when I first started running. Now it doesn't bother me anymore. Asthma's a pain in the ass though!

Oy vey... I feel you on the bad eating due to finals. I just finished and, let me tell you, a lot of unhealthy shit went into this body. I hope you're doing better with it than I did. lol You're almost done! Good luck, Casey.

I have exercise-induced asthma. I didn't realize I had it until my senior year of running cross country---I nearly passed out during a race. As long as I use my inhaler before I run or race, I don't have any problems. I wish I didn't have to use it but it helps me a lot.

Finals have been great so far...only one more final and 2 assignments to go! Trying desperately to eat healthier today. My body just can't handle junk food anymore. I feel like crap and I'm...er...constipated...unsexiest feeling ever.

Okay, I can do this. I've had time to recover from the half-marathon. Final exams are over with. If I can begin my healthy habits now, my body will be adjusted by the time the new semester starts. Hoping to update tonight with my diet and exercise for the day. Wish me luck, I need it.

you don't need luck - you're a smart determined young woman -y ou can do whatever you put y our mind - and body to... remember that half maratho you ran? :D

Yesterday

Breakfast:
2 whole wheat Eggos
1 cup soy milk

Lunch:
1 six inch veggie sub on wheat, no cheese, from Subway
1 bag Baked Lays

Snack:
1 serving apple
1.5 servings peanut butter

Dinner:
1 plate tuna helper (2-2.5 servings)
2 dinner rolls

Not the best, but better than usual, and for that I am grateful.

Exercise:
Ran 3 miles---felt GREAT to run again! Chest pains due to the cold.

I can do it. I can fit into those jeans again. If I can train for and run a half-marathon, I can get control of my eating habits.
