Cannon's Journal

Today was circuit training day and I wore my heart monitor. I have a very healthy ticker, but it is useful for working at peak efficiency and it also tells you how many calories you burn. I really want to know how accurate it is because it said that I burned 1464 calories this morning. That's huge!! Now circuit training can mean a lot of things to a lot of people, but basically it was going through a series of exercises without break. It keeps the heart rate up. Included in those exercises were weights and the resistance bands, but a lot of aerobic things too. This is going to be 3 days in a row of waking up early. If I can make it work for me, I'll be in good shape to keep this 4 day a week workout going.

Hey there you:)I read through this last page here - Good for you for deciding to up to 4 days a week that is great:)!!!Wether you ate the chocolate not for good or bad reasons the important thing is you stopped at 2 that is great will power my friend...even if you popped it into your mouth for the wrong reasons...

I actually went out yesturday well last night to go to the store to buy cholate boy I sure was craving it...LOL...I bought reece's balls and I think I ate like one handful of them...

Im glad to see youare still working at this and wanting it...I do too but Im having a hard time balancing everyhitng...

Balance is the hard part. I know that I haven't lost much since June, but I have toned and I haven't gained everything back. If this is a race...stopping midway really doesn't help, but it is still better than turning around and running back in the other direction.

I love this thought...mind if I 'borrow' it? :) It's a perfect way of looking at where I've been all summer. Now I'm ready to run again.

I'm both honored and flattered you borrowed it. I'll change the ticker tonight, but I didn't have time this morning since I got my gym time in :)

I overslept this morning :(. I'm not beating myself up over it. I went to bed by 10:30 last night and I had both alarms set for 4:40, but when I woke up it was actually 5:40. After school I have a chiropractor apointment so it looks like I'll have to get up early tomorrow and work up then :(. My main concern is that the day I'm pushing back is lifting day and Wednesday has a bit of lifting in it too. I ate really badly Friday and Saturday, but recovered quick enough to have a decent Sunday before any damage was done. I'm hoping for a multiple pound loss this week.

Yesterday was an easy day teaching for all the wrong reasons. My worst kid got suspended and an 8th grader who isn't in my class got shot 3 times (at least once in the head) and most of my other trouble makers were at the hospital the night before and didn't come to school yesterday. It was rather depressing day. I did wake up today and do my weight training. One down, 3 more early days to go.

He was the intended victim. I believe he and several other kids, at least one was one of my students were stealing another kid's bike.

Holy shit!!! Over a BICYCLE? Where do you live again? That sounds like East Oakland, sheesh! Or Richmond (CA). Or Pisttburg (CA). Or Sactown. Hell, that could be San Leandro.....ok nevermind, gun violence is everywhere. Srill, what a horrible shame. Did the 8th grader die? Some people survive shots to the dome....anyway, hope you're feeling ok :hug2:

The 8th grader died yesterday. I found out this morning. It turns out it was a student in my homeroom's bike that they tried to steal. The two of them fought the older teen who was trying to take the bike. Then the other teen came back and shot the 8th grader 3 times twice in the head. Now there comes the inevitable gang retaliation. Its not the best environment right now.

 OMG that is NUTTZ!!I really hate how schools are these days!
Up in cleveland Ohio just a couple hours away from me a kid brought a gun to school and I am pretty sure there was a shooting I heard on the news as well,it is so sad you never heard guns+school when I went to school grrrr.
You have a really tough job and I commend you for that! You sound like a great teacher that cares alot about the students.
Goodluck at weight training,I see the scales are moving in your favor as well way to go!!!:hug2: Have a nice day Tammy

Thanks Tammy. I see a lot of people talking about how schools are, but I think that overlooks a bigger problem. The kid that was shot didn't know his shooter and it happenned off school grounds on Sunday afternoon. Sadly, that is what is going on with kids now and a lot of times it gets brought into the schools. It was like a tomb in my classroom for the last period and most of the kids having a real hard time were with the crisis team. I just hope that this doesn't explode into gang violence.

The worst thing that happened at my high school that I'm aware of was a gang brawl at the back of my school, involving a lead pipe....blood everywhere....teachers got involved trying to break it up...and one teacher got beat up. Fortunately everyone was somewhat OK and I didn't see it. I hope your students get through this all right. Poor boy....even TUPAC made it to twenty-five....

Geez, sorry to hear about the student. That's awful. HOw do we protect our kids when there's parents out there who don't give a damn about theirs so they become so messed up. Do we teach ours to avoid all conflict, or do we teach them to protect themselves.

I lived in a town for a year that was so bad that I had to sleep with a 9mm pistom on my nightstand. What the fuck is wrong with people?!?
