Cannon's Journal

Personal trainers are worth there weight in gold if you get a good one, I had a love hate relationship with mine (I hated seeing her show up and loved seeing her leave lol) and she was the best thing I ever did for my weight loss but she moved. I hope your having a great day.

It stuck to be stranded out of the apartment all day and all day tomorrow too. I only ate half the hashbrowns and only one piece of toast. The omelete was packed with veggies. For lunch I had a 6 inch subway roast chicken on the oatmeal bread. Best choices for a bad situation. I did buy a heart rate monitor. It even calculates my calories burned. I'll wear it tomorrow.

Ok, the first real session with the trainer is today. I have to admit I'm nervous about it, but not in a bad way. I hope that this is a big step towards losing the rest of the weight that I need gone.

My thighs ache. Before moving up to squats with weight I have to start out with just my body weight. She also had me doing pelvic thrusts which tightened up my thighs. I'm walking like an old man, but I would have been really disapointed if I left the session feeling fresh and chipper. They're still working on this damn apartment and I'm not happy about it.

I wouldn't say I absolutely loved it, but I didn't hate it and if I can spend an hour every day doing something that good for my health and not hate it well what more is there?

Lol I Know how you feel but I promise after a couple of week if you miss a session you will feel like crap and you WILL learn to love it.

sound like it was a tough workout but your muscles will soon adapt and you won't be so sore afterwards when they do adapt :)

It is great to hear that you have started your gym program. Thighs have a bunch of nice big muscles, and sore thighs should really help speed you on your way to the loss you want.

The payoff in being better able to control movements like standing up can be pretty sensational too. I hope the soreness subsides quickly for you.

The gym visit is in half an hour and I'll post about it then. I got a nice pair of New Balance. I think they'll be great for working out.

Somewhat Raunchy Alert

I saw Oprah last night. She had a doctor on to talk about weight loss. I didn't agree with everything he said, but he said for every 35 pounds a man loses, he gains an inch of length on his...well his maleness. I'm now very worried about the personal implications of losing 255 pounds. I do not believe I will be able to find pants that fit anymore.

 What an interesting problem that would be ... :D

This has caught my attention more than it ought, probably because now I keep thinking about a photo I saw earlier and trying to estimate the before weight...

Anyway Cannon, I am concerned for you, and wish you well dealing with this.

Please keep us posted!

LOL, I should have known the people of this forum would have jumped on the raunchy post rather than being offended by it :).

I overestimated the recovery rate of my thighs. If I don't move them they're fine. If I move them, to bend or something they do hurt. I don't mind it too much because like my 3 favorite Australians since the Brothers Gibb have said, there is a huge payoff down the road. They're still working on my apartment today so I'm going to hit the diaries before I hit the road.

you say that like it's a bad thing...

I've put in many hours working on corrupting people... and it looks like my work has paid off :)

Hey Joe, where ya going with that....dumbell in your hand?? LOL!

Sorry about the apartment--I HATE
1.construction noise
2. and LEAF BLOWERS, Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Use a damn RAKE!!

The thighs aching is a good thing for this reason:

muscle increases metabolism.
that, in turn, can help burn fat with diet and exercise
the thigh muscle is the largest in the body
its very existence can burn calories
working it up is a wise idea :)

I had a tire go out today and had to get new tires. Its been a rough day. Blech. Oh well.

I swear when it rains it pours!!I have had crap luck for a while now!I hope that inner thigh gets to feeling better soon! And I wouldn't worry about the growth thingy lol cross that bridge when it gets here !Have a gr8 weekend Tammy

I had a bad day yesterday foodwise.

1. For breakfast I had some cereal with skim milk (No problem)
2. Went out to a movie and they had a deal where you could get 3 things for $7.50. I basically wound up with a child's sized popcorn, a child's sized diet coke, and a water (I felt like I made an excellent choice)
3. Had a late lunch when I had to get new tires. My brother in law was great so I took him out to lunch at a Mexican restaurant. The problem was, I was looking for something, anything healthy on their menu and didn't do so well. I wound up with fajitas and left half the tortillas, but I know I had a lot of cals.
4. Went out for dinner and drinks with my friends last night. Ate the healthiest thing on the menu, a grilled chicken sandwich, but I should have avoided eating anything and while I drank water with my beer I should have had more water and less beer.
5. Thighs were still too sore to even walk. Today I will walk in a few minutes, but I didn't really exercise yesterday.

So in the end, I probably had about 3,500 calories yesterday and I did no exercise. If I look at the glass as half full that's not enough to gain even a pound and I had some small points along the way where I exercised a modicum of self control. However, I can do better. Today I am going to be out with friends and I intend to do better.

Oh cannon - so you had an off day tomorrow or today will be better - one day at a time and one meal at a time - you know the routine:) *HUGS*
