Cabana's Diary

OK I got the courage to start my diary today. Let's answer those questions:

-- How much weight do you want to lose?
I would like to reach at least 160. If I reach that goal I will set a new one.

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
I guess that would be two-three months. Hopefully by March.

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? After so many failed low carb diets w/fainting spells, I decided that I would never do low carb again. So this time I want to take the low calorie approach with plenty of exercise. I dont want to deprive myself of the things I enjoy, I just want to eat smaller portions. I think this will allow me to be comfortable with my diet. If you know you cant have it, you want it! If you know you can have it and be reasonalbe about it, thats a different story!

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? My husband has agreed to support me in reaching my goal. I have also joined fitday.com to track my progress. I really like it. AND YOU ALL!

-- How realistic is your goal? ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

-- When will you start? Well, I started on January 9th and I'm still going!

So far I have lost 7 lbs. I didnt even think that would happen. So I feel motivated. I think I'm actually going to reach my goal.

I have noticed that my body is reacting to certain ways that I eat. I eat a very light breakfast, and storng protien for lunch and then large salads for dinner. I seem to not get as hungry if I do this. ANYWAY! I hope to keep this diary up and get to know you all! Talk to you soon.....Cabana

Welcome!

That's really awesome, congrats about the loss!

Fitday is awesome. Are you using the online version or the program that you buy? I used to prefer the online one, since in a way it was easier, but now that I'm used to the program it's really awesome and much more detailed (with a lot more foods).

Again, welcome! And good luck with the goal! You can do it.

Hi & Thanks for the welcome. And Your not doing so bad yourself! I am using the online version because thats what was mentioned on the forum. It sounds like the program you purchase could have some perks! Anything that helps to remind me that I have to be good is a plus! (I've also found out that using the journal is a good way to vent and express my feelings about my weightloss-because its just not something that I would talk to my hubby about.) So it's a little piece of mind.

Gotta Go, Its lunch! Time for Wild Rice n Chicken Soup!!! Yum!

Hi Cabana! Congratulations on the 7 pounds you have already lost! Thats great. I know that once I see the scale start to move, its a real motivator. I am also doing the low calorie, smaller portions way of dieting. I am trying to keep my calories at 1500 or under (which is higher than some people do). I am trying to eat less, but still eat the foods that my family typically eats. What type of exercise are you planning on doing? Hope you enjoy the forum! :)

Well, I work out on my gazelle at home about 30 minutes a day or longer if I feel guilty about eating a little more than I should have. I try and walk as much as I can at work (I work on a big campus) and I try to use 3 lb weights at home duing my workouts. Sometimes I just turn up some motivational music ( I have a CD that just always gets me in the mood) and I do a variety of stretches, leg lifts, push ups and such...as long as I am feeling some kind of burn somewhere! I would like to start doing some light lifting but--I find it hard to get to the gym with my family. I set my goal between 800 and 1200 calories a day, and suprisingly its not hard. I find that as long as you incorporate the "5 a day" that everyone talks about, you can actually eat alot and not be so hungry. I eat alot of salads with chopped apples-the apples just seem to fill you more and keep the hunger away. And I have really got into eating the healthy choice or progresso low calorie soups. They are filling and around 100 calories a serving. For now I am limiting the obvious carbs like white bread and sweets.....oh and the biggie "PEPSI's"-its strictly diet drinks now. I still find it hard to drink lots of water, but I try to drink as much as I can in a day.
My family probably thinks Im nuts because if we go out to eat I ask them for a bite of what they are eating...just to kill the craving. Then I'm OK! Some times it can be an emotional roller coaster, I never realized that I really used food to comfort myself, after having a bad day or even an exhausting long day at work. So I try and find things to occupy myself (like exercise :p ) Good to hear from you all....Till next time :D Cabana

Hello Monday!

Well, I made it through the weekend. I did really well actually. My splurge day was on Sunday, where I had 1 whole slice of pizza. I enjoyed every minute of it! Then of course, I complemented that with an apple.

.25 Tortilla

.5 Tortilla
.5 cup lettuce
6 thin sliced tomatoes
1 tsp mustard
1 ounce swiss cheese

Snacks
Black Grapes and cantaloup
Mixed nuts from the shell...(I find that if I have to crack them, I dont eat as much)

.25 Cup Cantaloup

Lunch
.25 cup black grapes
1/2 small apple (my son ate the other half:rolleyes: )
2 hard boiled eggs

Dinner
1 Slice Pizza
1 Small Apple

I did not exercise on Friday or Saturday, But Sunday I spent 1 hour on my gazelle. I needed it the most on Sunday since I ate the pizza-I forgot to read the label but I'm guessing that one slice of pizza has about 400 calories! WHEW---I am going to Weigh in tomorrow, I think I dropped another pound ! I'm going to do this! I know I can! Now what are we going to do about Super Bowl?...Hmmmmm:p
Till next time all.................................................:D

Ooooh...superbowl! *squee* when is that? Today or tomorrow? I can't remember...for the past couple of years I've gone to the super bowl party at my friend's house, but they're not having one this year (they have a new baby) so I've kind of lost track of the time. Huzzah for tuna dip!

Yeah, it is good. I don't like salsa so that's pretty much my dip. It's really just the ordinary tuna combo...mayo (I use miracle whip), mustard, lemon juice, and the tuna. It really good :D

I'm going to have to try that cmsstewart. I just need to become "unafraid" of the mayo. I need to go buy some of the low fat miracle whip cause I just got the good ole fattening stuff in the fridge.

Yesterdays meals:

Breakfast
.5 Moring Start Breakfast Bar
8 oz Coffee w/non-dairy creamer

Lunch
1 Cup Progresso Turkey Noodle Soup
3 Saltine Crackers
1 Small Apple

Dinner
2 Cups Lettuce
1/2 small apple, chopped
1 cup purple grapes
1/4 cup chedder cheese
1/2 Medium Tomato, sliced
3 Tblsp Light, Low Carb Honey Dijon Dressing Approx-90 Calories

Exercised 40 minutes on my gazelle.
And I was good cause my kids cooked a pizza! Cabana

I use the low fat Miracle Whip. Its not bad. I like real Miracle Whip more...lol. But, thats the sacrafice I have to make. lol.

Super Bowl Sunday. hmmmmmm. That could be challenging. My husband celebrates it like its a holiday. That means there will be an expectation of food similiar to that on Christmas. McDonalds does a deal with 50 chicken nuggets for 8 dollars. I know he will hit that drive thru with the kids at least twice over the weekend. At least I dont care much for Chicken McNuggets. I will just stay home and hide so I dont end up leaving with a big chocolate shake or something disasterous like that!

I have been a big tuna eater here recently. Never ate it that much until I went on this weight loss thing. Now I eat it for lunch quite often. Makes a nice lunch, and I find it pretty filling. :)

Morning!

I actually really-really enjoy tuna salad. But, I like ALOT of Miraclewhip in it. Thats why I tend to stay away. And it's just not the same alone. My son will eat it straight out of the can-juice and all

My husband and his friends usually all gather to throw a party for superbowl and then everyone brings snacks. So theres every snack under the sun you can imagine. I am actually a little weary because, I actually fell off the "weightloss wagon" ON Superbowl about 3 years ago.

I think I'm in this one for the long haul, but I keep having flashbacks :) LOL

I had a stressful day yesterday. I really could of gone home and just raided the fridge. But I knew if I would do that, I would regret it. So instead I cut 1/2 a cantaloupe and ate too my hearts content. (And it was satisfying) I also ate 1/2 a pear and 1 cup of purple grapes. ALL FRUIT. So I was able to divert a potential disaster  Didnt get any exercise in; just didnt feel up too it, so I hit the sack early. Good to hear from you fluff, I know other members were looking for you yesterday...:) were U lost:) Till next time........Cabana

Sorry to hear you had a stressful day yesterday, but awesome job sticking with the fruit! I know that must have been hard, and it shows such dedication on your part. Don't worry about not exercising one day. Doesn't hurt to take a day off here and there anyway. I take one day off every week from exercising (which happens to be today --yah! ).

Hope you have a better day today! :)

Another yucky day yesterday. I didnt squeeze any exercise in either. But this morning the scale showed another pound gone so, thats some good motivation to keep me going! I have to go grocery shopping this weekend and change up my usual menu, I dont want to get board, so lets see how I can incorporate a "healthy" variety into my diet. I have been real careful sticking to those things that I know are most healthy---GRAINS<FRUITS<VEGGIES, so lets see what I come up with. Heres my food for yesterday:

Breakfast:
4 oz Danon Low Sugar, Low Carb Vanilla Cream Yogart
8 oz Black Coffee w/non-dairy creamer

Lunch:
1 Medium Chicken Breast w/grilled tomatoes

Snack:
.5 Pear

Dinner:
2 Egg omlet with 1 slice deli ham, chopped onions, chopped jalapenos, and swiss cheese.

OH NO, the ground hog saw his shadow SIX MORE WEEKS OF WINTER....:(

Keep going Cabana! From what you ate yesterday, I think you did great! Slip some exercise in there, and you'll have it made. ;)

yay! on another pound out the door! sounds like your determination and attitude will get you to goal right on time! do you realize almost ten pounds are gone from you!? I think your diet and exercise is right on track. Great job!!

Thanks Guys!

It feels so good to get positive reinforcement! Thanks Guys! I really needed it!:D
1 more to hit 10 (Cant wait):)

Congrats Cabana on losing the pound! :) Always so nice to see those numbers on the scale go down.

Six more weeks of winter huh? Hmmmmm....down here where I am in Texas we have hardly had a winter. Its in the high 70's today. Mind you, I am not complaining. Its great! Although I noticed my azaelas are blooming already. They are a bit confused by all this warm weather I guess. They dont usually bloom until late feb- early march. We shall see if the groundhog knows his stuff or not.

I think changing up your menu is a good idea. Getting stuck in a rut is often what derailed my diets in the past. I have been thinking of mixing up my exercise for the very same reason. Just need some variety before I bore myself to death!

Keep up the wonderful work! :)

Hi Cabana, just popped in for a quick peeksy :D Looks like you are doin' great you should be proud of yourself :D I must confess, I am miracle whip-holic, too, but I have learned to make my tuna with relish and yellow mustard  LOL it took some getting used to but its really moist with the relish :) I reserve my miracle whip for sandwiches and limit myself to 1 tablespoon or I will go crazy with it! LOL Great job on dealing with the stress, its one of the toughest things to do - not comfort yourself with food- and you did great :D Hope you have had a good day and keep up the good work :D
