Cabana's Diary

Happy Valentines Day!

Hi All,
Didnt make it onto the forums over the weekend or yesterday, I was so busy. (I missed u guys:) ) I didnt even come into work yesterday. I actually had to go out of town. My weekend went really well. I had no problems with food what-so-ever. But yesterday, was a little different. I was in a training straight from 9am to 2 pm. My breakfast was usual, Yogart. And then I snacked on an apple and grapes during the class. After the class was over, I had a boiled egg for the road. I was hungry around 7:30 and the family hadn't eaten, so I took them to Subway. AND....I enjoyed a six inch chicken teriyaki on wheat. Mmmmmm it was sooo good. I consider that a big splurge, but I think it was worth it. Im going to need to look up the calories on that now???

And for some other news that can be detrimental to my weightloss....I'm going to start working a second job.

In a restraunt:eek:
Lets see how good my willpower is now. If I cant make the right choices with all the food I want at my finger tips, then I dont know whats going to happen.

To alleviate the mood a little,
Today I slipped on an old pair of Wranglers that I had put in our charity box (Just lucky I hadnt gotten off my rear and taken them to the Salvation Army) And they slid on like a glove. Never thought I would see that again:cool: lol

So, I told my hubby that it was part of my Valentines gift to him. ;)
(And to me)
The scale hasnt moved, but I'll get back into the swing of things here again soon. I only exercised on Sunday for 1 hour. No exercise last night.

You all have a Great Valentines Day! I Luv ya All !!! (And I guess you can say we love ourselves just a little bit more on this V-Day 2006):p ...........Cabana

Hey Cabana, thats awesome about fitting into those jeans! You gotta love that! :D

I've got some shirts that haven't really fit in a while, I'll be really glad when I can get into those again. :)

Hi Cabana, considering all the other choices at subway, I think yours was GREAT :) We went there not long ago - i discovered that what my hubby ate was over 1000 just for his SANDWICH never mind the soda, cookie and chips! Yours isn't even close to that so, considering what it could have been, I would consider it a top choice.

I worked in the food service as a cook for 10 years so I hear the temptation thing. You can do it though :D If you are around it enough it all starts looking blahsay anyway.... ya get bored with it after a while.

Congrats on the comfy jeans! Thats great! Keep up the wonderful work and enjoy your v-day :)

Hey Cabana! Congrats on the jeans!! That had to make your day! :)

Yum. I love Subway! Great choice. So many other places you could have gone that would have been terrible. You should feel very proud of making that good decision!

I can see where working in a restraunt could be filled with temptations. You can do it though Cabana! If anything, it will really help you prepare for life after losing weight. Learning to deal with temptations now will only help you keep that weight off in the long run! You have been so motivated and committed, I know you can carry that over to working in the restraunt as well.

Keep up the great work!! Hope you have a great Valentine's evening! :)

Hi All,
Wow, What a non-stop week I have had. On Valentines Day, my husband wanted to go out to eat for lunch (since I was going to be working in the PM), so we headed over to one of our favorite restraunts. I didnt know what to order since alot of the food is mexican, and the portions are always huge. So I ordered a chicken taco salad with all the fixins on the side. I think it was a little fattening but then in the PM I was so busy that I was only able to gulp down water by the gallons. So I'm sure that I did not go over my calorie content for the day, and I wasnt really hungry anyway.

Yesterday, I had a training out of town again. The group that I was with decided to eat at Long John Silvers. OMG! I wanted to enjoy my lunch, I wanted to splurge a little, and meanwhile in the back of my head, I was like, "This is probably one of the worst places to eat (for me)" But, I enjoyed my fried clams (mmmmmmm) and I really couldnt eat the rest of the food piled on the plate (not even the french fries) and I threw half the food away. I guess you could say my eyes were bigger than my stomach. Then, I paid for it later on that night. My stomach DID NOT LIKE THE GREASE!

I'm a' changin'. That's for sure. (My body was like....Where all that fiber I'm used to, salads, fruits, grains...:p )

So today I'm kind of back to normal. I stepped on the scale this AM and despite eating fastfoods, I have done OK. The scale has moved down, but Im not going to make it official till I have a few days of eating normal again.

My realatives are starting to notice my changes. I saw my sister yesterday, I hadnt seen her for a while, and out of the blue she said, "I can really tell that your losing!" And that confirmed it all! When your sis lets you know she sees a change, you know its the truth!:)

I havent exercised much, but since starting my PM job, I have been on my feet non-stop (just about 4 hrs worth of walking) So I was thinking of getting a pedometer.

Thank You all for your support, it is appreciated and much needed! Fluff your right, this is a new chapter in my life that will help prepare me for a lifetime of eating right!

Till Next Time All, Stay Strong!.....................Cabana:)

Great job Cabana. Yeah, those meals out with others are tough -- especially when they're picking the place.

I think when those moments come up we just have to remember to stick to our guns and do the best we can -- which you did! ;)

Hi Cabana :) hope you are enjoying your weekend. Meals out are really rough when others choose those grease- pits  you did really good though. I know what you mean about the grease in the tummy. It's like a shock to your healthier system. Keep up the good work and def. check out that pedometer :D

Hey Cabana! Sounds like you are doing awesome. It's great that the eating out didn't hurt your losing. It is so hard to eat out sometimes. I ate out today, and I did not make a good choice (had the Lo Mein -- and it was soooo yummyu!). I have decided not to regret it. I hope my scale forgives me! But I am not so sure it will.

Its great that people are noticing your weight loss. Isn't that like the best thing when people notice!! I know that often its hard for me to see my own weight loss. Ok, I notice it in clothes, but I dont always see it in the mirror. So when someone else notices it, it makes me feel great.

You should definitely think about a pedometer. I have one and I love it!!! I wear mine every day. I am too the point now that I hate forgetting to put it on. I miss it. Weird, I know, but I really like being able to see how much walking I am doing everyday.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Keep up the great work!! :)

Hi All,
I have been missing in action for a while, but I'm back and on the wagon! I strayed alot over the weekend and on Monday & Tuesday. For a while, my structured life gave way, and I gave into the temptations all around. I actually enjoyed an overnight stay out of town, splurged on a pasta dinner and ate cookies for snacks! (I could of ate bagles the size of texas, but I knew that would be beyond reason.) So all in all I had 4 days without a single salad or piece of fruit. I had my fun, now I have to pay the price. Things wont be that difficult now that I am back at work. Back to structure in my life. U Know, structure is good:)

My second job is going well, it keeps me on my feet for about 4 hours straight and I manage to not eat dinner. So the water intake is up on these nights with a few diet cokes in between.

Hopefully things should settle down soon, at least for a while. No more out of town trainings at least till I meet my goal.
I am a little dissapointed that I splurged the way that I did because I will have to wait that much longer to meet my goal. But I also realized that I really, really, really want to meet my goal and I AM GOING TO DO THAT! No matter how long it takes.
My anniversary is in May-and my husband has booked us a romatic 2 day-get-away in Santa Fe, so that's some good motivation. Lets see how things go. Glad to be back all! Till next time.................Cabana

Mornin' Cabana :D Glad to hear you are back with us again :) Glad to hear the second job is working out well for you. Great job on the water and diet cola while you're there! My anniversary is in May as well :D The 18th. Wish we could have a romantic getaway.... but no such luck. Oh well. I'll settle for dinner with my parents as my anniversary is theirs too (hey, I couldn't fit into her wedding dress! LOL) :D Have a good friday and keepup all the great work!

Thanks BizeB!
My anniversary is on the 20th, and we usually just have dinner too. So, a get-a-way will be nice!

Hey, and fitting into you moms wedding dress wouldnt be such a bad thing! I actually fantisize about losing enough weight to wear that little black dress and renewing my vows with my hubby in Vegas or something, that would be cool:)

You have such a great attitude! Keep it up, Have a Great Weekend.:p

Hey Cabana, thats cool about your trip to Santa Fe coming up! My wife and I are planning on going some where with a beach this summer, so staying on track until May is my ultimate goal as well. :) We can do it!

Don't worry about the splurge last weekend, we all go through those times. You've been strong enough to bounce back and look past it -- and thats all that matters. Great job. :)

Ooooooh, Ahhhhhhh, Beaches.......Sun, Sun, Sun-dude! Love it!

I invited my husband to lunch today. He wanted to eat chineese. I cannot stand to go to a chineese buffett, because I know I will over indulge. So, I politely refused to go (He had already planned to go with office buddies)-and I invited my boss to go eat something healthy! Score for the CabanaMama!

I know I need to get serious and back on track. So here I go,,,,,,,,

Hey Cabana! Wow - resisting an invitation to a chinese buffet is a great achievement. Good for you! I love chinse food -- I cannot be good when I go to a buffet...so many yummy things to choose from. Your committment and motivation is awesome.

Woohoo - a get away with hubby to Santa Fe sounds like so much fun! I remember when my husband and I used to do stuff like that (that was before the three kids...lol) Hope you have a great great time! :)

Hi Cabana :D I would have LOVED to fit into Mamas wedding dress but she was 98 pounds when she got married! Ugh! I will NEVER see that number ( I hope). I have one sister who is built like Mama and she looks like a starving third world person but she eats like a trucker! I want a faster metabolism but not that fast! I bet you could count all of her ribs and tickle her organs if you poked her in the belly

great job on ignorin' the chinese food and goin' healthy with your boss! Thats a DOUBLE score for Cabana! :D
Have a great weekend and keep up the good work :D

BizeB, That is sooo funny!:)

Well, my weekend went well. I landed up working 10 hours on Saturday and Sunday. But this helped me along with my weight loss. It is so much easier to not eat when you are constantly busy.

I've found a new friend on the snack side. I think I have "re-discovered" the rice cake. I had heard somewhere that rice cakes were not that good for you so I avoided them. But, while grocery shopping the other day, I found some made with whole grains and only 40 calories a cake, and no trans fat. I am a "cruncy" person--so eating something with this kind of texture has been very satisfying.

Well, the scale moved down this morning, and I even find it hard to believe. I havent weighed in for a couple of weeks because of my last weekend splurge, but I have continued to lose.

So as of today--I am at 165:) I cant believe it. Only five more pounds to my goal weight.

It is such an amazing feeling to fit into cloths that you havent seen in some time. Yesterday, I slipped on a pair of stretch pants (That I had gotten too fat for, can you imagine, growing out of stretch pants??) and they were so loose. I couldnt believe it. Even my kids noticed.

My 12 year old son even said, "Mom, since you've been losing weight, you look so much younger." What a feeling!

I am so proud that I decided to make thses changes in my life. Change is good.:)

And since I have started working my second job, my husband and kids have taken on more house chores (more responsibility) and it makes me happy that I am not the only one trying to keep the family ties strong. He is spending more time with them, and I have more time for me. I try to tell myself that I am not being selfish, I am trying to stay healthy, and mentally well-for all those around me! So for me, this change has been good.

I love ya all, you all are so inspirational! Lets see if I can lose 5lbs by March 9th(my goal date) Till next time,,,,,,,,Cabana :p

Wooohoooo On Getting Closer To Your Goal Weight You Can Do It!

Good morning all,
Just a quick entry.
I stepped on the scale this am and its closer to 160. But I'm not going to make it official until later. I'll keep you all posted.
Why does it seem sometimes like the weight just flys off and sometimes it just creeps???? Go figure.......Till later.........Cabana :D

Hey Cabana! I cannot believe you are only five pounds (or maybe less??) away from your goal! That is fantastic! Sure hope you wont leave the forum after you hit that goal weight, you are such an inspiration to us all! :)

That is so great that your whole family is pitching in to help you around the house! That support must make things more managable for you. Don't ever give up your "you" time though. We need it! There is nothing selfish about taking some time for yourself. That is one thing I have really enjoyed here recently is just taking that time for me, even if I spend it on the treadmill. I never used to take time for myself really, and I think it contributed to my weight gain! Now I am striving to improve myself, and hopefully the whole family will reap the benefits of having a mom and wife that feels better about herself, is healthier, and has more energy!

You keep up the great work. Cant wait to celebrate you hitting your goal weight!!! :)

Yeah Cabana, we certainly hope you don't leave once you've reached your goal. You've been pulling for me the whole way, and I really appreciate that! :)

For me, even when I hit my ultimate goal of 185, I'm still going to have a strict workout schedule, so I'll need you to keep me going. ;)
