Butterfly’s Journey to Health

Okay, so I cheated and didn't track my calories today. I did have a little too much cheese again but I had less snacks than yesterday. But I did exercise and breakfast and lunch were light.

Cheese, the bane of many. :p

Glad to hear the rest of the day went fairly smooth. You sound like you're getting closer to where you want to be.

Thank you both! Weigh-in this morning didn’t go so well. L Back up to 294.3 lbs (+2.9 lbs). Hoping it’s just that there was a lot of sodium in the cheese and I was retaining water. Feel like whatever I do I hover around 295 lbs. Maybe I need to do something more drastic, but not too drastic.

It's baffling me. Your recorded meals look WAY healthier than anything I put into myself.

Do you always record your snacks? Are you a spur of the moment snacker? I know that's a huge hang up with my wife trying to lose is she pops food in her mouth throughout the day and it doesn't even really register in her mind as having eaten.

I did have a few midnight snacks the other day after I recorded my day's diary. Otherwise I record all snacks. I do have some hormonal imbalances, take 7 medications, and have vertigo so it makes it hard to exercise so it likely has something to do with some of that. But doctor claims my medications should be weight neutral (in the past they weren't and that's why I gained a lot of my weight originally).

Should be about right for maintaining weight but not losing. So at least I won’t gain, or at least I shouldn’t. I was right on track until 9:30 PM but after that I snacked a lot and went over my limit. I think in the future if I cut out some of the earlier snacks to leave room for the later snacks I’ll be okay. I’m proud of myself for tracking at least. Tomorrow’s goal is to burn at least 100 cals dancing and eat less. Also, I realized had I just skipped the peanut butter I would have been about on track.

Eek! Chocolate peanut butter. I didn't know that existed. Ouch. 425 cals? Double ouch. I would be leaving that little calorie sucker out of my diet.
Good for you, not going over maintenance, though. Here's to a better tomorrow & no chocolate peanut butter  (this smiley does not convey an eek! It's more like a yuk, which I did not intend :) )

It's only 100 calories per serving, it's just that I had 4 1/4 servings. If I had had one serving I'd be fine, but I'm not good around chocolate, it tastes too delicious, so I eat too much. I won't be buying any more chocolate peanut butter.

Had a few midnight snacks after I posted my diary :(

So I might as well record them now:

dairy-free ricotta cheese (100 cal)
dairy-free cheddar cheese (70 cal)
dried prunes- (100 cal)

Total yesterday after exercise with the midnight snacks: 2756

Oops!!! I'll do better today.

Oops, messed up today. Estimated high on the empanada though, could have been less. There were potatoes within the wrap though. Got stressed so turned to food, but was more stressed than usual so hopefully this won’t happen so often. The night eating was a little better though. Got a lot planned tomorrow, so hopefully less time to snack. I do hope to squeeze in some exercise though. Would have today but vertigo was acting up more than usual (probably from the stress). I should have lifted weights though.

Tea (0 cal)

Dairy-free cheese (400 cal)

Chocolate peanut butter (100 cal)

5 rice cakes (250 cal)

Total after midnight snacks- 3,542

I guessed I spoke too soon when I said the night snacking was better last night. At least I now knew why I’m not losing weight, it’s obvious I’m eating too much. Decided I’m going to try shooting for 2200 cal daily instead of 2000 to start, maybe I will find that more manageable.

Weigh-in- 297.6 (+2.9 lbs) in 3 days

Okay, so the 2,732 calories was a little much and the 3,542 calories was way too much. But if 2500 calories is a pound it just doesn't add up.

That aside, yesterday didn't track calories but I think I did pretty well. Danced for a full 30 minutes and part of the time went a little faster than I usually do.

One thing I thought of, I have Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome, which can make it hard to lose weight. Though I take medication for it and it seems to regulate my hormones, the one recommendation there is that I haven't been following is limiting soy products. I have been eating a lot of soy recently, I'm wondering if it has anything to do with my weight gain. Going to try to limit soy from now on. Also think I'm going to try the free version of my fitness pal for a few days to track my fat intake, I'm wondering if I'm eating too much fat so it would be good to track that too.

Yesterday I had a pretty good day except for after dinner snacking. Have officially started limiting soy products. Had a light breakfast this morning and already did 15 minutes of light dancing, and I'll exercise more later. Weight is down to 296.7 (-0.9 lbs). Still up, but better than it was.

The stress continues. Grandfather was in rehab due to falling but blood pressure got too low so he ended up back in the hospital. So I was hanging out in the ER for a few hours yesterday. Bought a 250 calorie granola bar from the hospital vending machine. Probably should have had half but had the whole thing.

I'll keep trying, the stress ought to subside eventually. College restarts in less than 3 weeks. I'll now be a part time student this semester and next semester and then I'll be a graduate. So I'll have something to keep me busy and maybe not eat as much yet I'll have time to exercise. Also hoping to work more hours part time, I'm self employed (Ebay reseller) so I can make my own hours and have time to exercise. Also, hopefully going to get more into cooking. Picked out some new healthy recipes to try. Bought chicken breast for the first time in a while, hoping the lean meat and protein will be both healthy and filling.

Stress makes it so much harder to eat well. Never stop trying honey. I have always wanted to learn how to go about selling on eBay. I have so much stuff that I could sell & it would do me good to get rid of some of it & make some money at the same time. I have never found the courage to start.
Chicken breast was one of the things I ate the most of(never in large quantities though) when I lost 36kg in 6 months back in 2007. I used to have it in stir-fries or pan-fry it in a little balsamic vinegar & add it to my salad, make soups with it......
Thanks for the hugs sweets. Here's one right back :grouphug: xoxo

Cheese is rather wonderful - but it gets the calories up sooo fast! Good thing I can´t really deal with the proper, aged stuff anymore. The younger the leaner, in general (due to water content, of course). Stress makes everything more difficult, doesn´t it? And I´m always a bit appalled at hospital "food".

Thank you both! Hugs are appreciated. Selling on Ebay isn't as hard as I originally thought it was going to be. Yeah, I've got to really limit the cheese. Good to see you back around LaMa.

Grandfather is out of the hospital and back in rehab, so that is progress.

Didn't have much cheese yesterday but too much jelly. Otherwise a pretty good day. Exercised for about 40 minutes.

Good news on gramps being out of hospital butterfly & well done on limiting the cheese & the 40mins of exercise xoC
