Burlesque Babe

Hey!!! :)
Don't we all look at our skinniest pix and think the same!! I am the same. Summer did me no good. But we can do it!
Strict food budget I think really is a blessing. We are on a tight budget too. I have to plan every meal - It actually works!! I eat what I have planned & I lose weight! :)
Good to see you here!

Welcome back Mystic- I have missed you too. I think most of us have been struggling, but hey, we can do this. We know what to do, right? We just have to do it! Go us! xo Cate

Thanks everyone. So far I haven't done too great. Being sick always feels like a great excuse to indulge! Next time I go shopping I want to really look into finding healthy low cal recipes and shop for those, however right now I just shopped for recipes that I don't know the cals on. However if I could just stop my snacking in the evening (which would be helped by getting out of my house and doing something like walking my dog, jogging or working out) then I don't think I'd really need to find too many low cal meals as I tend to 'ruin' my diet strictly on snacking (though having cheese loaded nachos with salsa and sour cream for supper isn't the best choice haha). Gonna try to do better tomorrow! Will make rounds to everyone's diaries tomorrow too I promise!

Well it's hard to have a lot of focus on anything when sick.

I'm not a big believer in the low/no carb type diets, but I do think getting some proteins and some fats in there always helps at least to keep you fuller and away from the chips.

But you've done this before, so you should be able to do it again. We all have confidence in you! :)

Thanks. Still not quite back on plan (omg the stupid pop up ads when using this site on your phone are SO annoying!!!!!) I am finally starting to feel less sick thought still terribly tired!
I'm gonna try again this week to get back on track. Hopefully going to the barn most days, leaving me less time to get bored and snacky in the evening will help. I'm gonna go around to some diaries right now before I procrastinate again!

Well it's good to hear you're feeling a little better these days.

Man it's got to be cold up there right about now. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr

So, about feeling better.... ya I picked up the flu sunday night (well, probably picked it up saturday at a play park for my niece's bday. Both me nieces, my nephew, and my sis in law got it)! Puked and... ya know. Fun stuff. Still don't have my appetite back and feeling a bit gross, but maybe not having an appetite is a good thing. A kick start haha. I've been sick for 3 weeks straight now.
Today I had home made pizza for lunch and 2 granola bars and that's all that I can manage. I would have preferred bagel with cheese instead of pizza but I don't have any block cheese, just shredded and it's difficult to do shredded cheese on a bagel haha.
As for the cold. Yup we're sitting around -25 to -30 degrees celsius since about tuesday, and we had crazy snow monday.
Maybe I will step on the scale tomorrow, though I am dealing with TOM right now, but with a light eating day it may not be as scary as it could be! Then I have some base line to start at!

So the scale was not really kind but about what I expected. 163.4 I believe it was. So not at my highest weight but I gained back like 26 pounds of the 31 I lost :( Yick!
Appetite is still not back yet. It seemed a touch better (don't know if you can call it that, I don't mind a suppressed appetite!) today at times but not always.
Had 2 granola bars for lunch (haven't felt like making anything as sometimes the thought of food is gross still), then felt a bit hungry and had subway for kinda supper (foot long, with chips and fruitopia drink), went to a party and finally at like 9pm felt like I could shove a small cupcake in my mouth.
So really I probably finished at a decent calorie amount for the day.

MysticRealm, glad you are starting to feel better. Get well, get eating healthy calories again to fuel up and get moving. It could be a placebo effect (but research says it's true, go figure), this year whenever I have been sick with a virus, I have been swallowing and eating lots of raw garlic. Sounds gross but it seems to help. I just lightly crush a clove, chop it into swallowable bits, and down it with some milk or juice. Or i chop it up raw and mix it into whatever meal I am having. Once or twice a day is all you need.

Hi Mystic, That sucks that you have been sick for weeks! Hope you feel better soon!
I find staying away from the forum a dangerous thing for me. Small slips can very easily turn into substantial gains. The forum keeps me accountable to myself mainly. You know the old saying Mystic, just hop right back on the horse (pun intended). You can do this sweets, xo Cate

Thanks guys.
Today wasn't the best day for eating. My appetite seems to mostly be back now which is fine but I went to the mall to Christmas shop and had lunch there forgetting that I was going out for supper for some friends' birthdays. Then had crepes in between there too. Didn't have a great deal for supper though and no dessert so hopefully it wasn't totally rediculous.

Btw I saw some friends today and happened to mention something along the lines of 'the good thing about getting fatter is the boobs' and he said he hadn't realized I had gained anything (and I've included him in my weight loss a bit as he's someone who's lost a lot of weight and kept it off and keeps working at it). Which on the one hand it's great that I don't look huge compared to when I was thinner (and I only see this friend every few weeks so it's not like I see him near everyday when it's less noticeable any gains or losses), and yet it's like 'did I really not look any better than this when I was 26 pounds thinner?' I mean I really try to dress to hide it as well as I can but I would have thought the hard to hide spots would give it away.

Or perhaps you did look better after losing the weight initially, but gaining it back hasn't affected your look as much. Or you are better at hiding it than you thought? Either way don't stress over it. Just focus on losing it again and feeling good about yourself. You can do it! Glad you are feeling better :)

Thank you!
Today was a great day. Had a busy day at work which was SORELY needed! Yet all my dogs were pretty good. Helped someone out, their vehicle had caught fire (I think they just saw smoke not flames) on their way to their dogs' ultrasound appointment, and they had managed to make it to my parking lot. Having no heat in their vehicle, and no normal store would allow their dogs in they asked if they could crash at my store till her husband arrived from downtown a couple hours later. This seems to be becoming habit. A couple weeks ago I took a bunny in on daycare as they had a gas leak and had no place to bring their bunny. Thankfully we had a really quiet day at the shop that day for the little guy.
Then I went out and rode my horse. He was fantastic for having nearly the whole last 3 weeks off.
Calorie wise I think I did pretty good today, in fact I just calculated my cals and ended up under 1300 cals! Wow, wasn't really expecting that! It helps SO much to keep busy, rather than to sit at home and get bored! I only got home today around 7:30 where as on slow day and days I don't ride I can get home sometimes by 2, then just sit around and do nothing!
I do still really want to start exercising. I will try and make that my goal for tomorrow is to do a day of 30DS or something.

Sounds like you are doing pretty well! And good for you helping out strangers like that :) Sometimes it's hard to be able to but I know those people really appreciated your help.

Hope you manage to get some exercise into your schedule today!

Mystic, good job on the calories! Get that excercise in. I wonder if you can incorporate some extra physical activity in with riding your horse? I'm about to try some Taebo myself.

Thanks guys. I did great today eating wise, ending up around 1550 calories. Went and rode my horse after a full day's work, but did not get any additional exercise in. Will try again tomorrow!
My friend and I might take a dance class together so that would be an added way to get exercise in.

Dance class would definitely be a good way to get some cardio in! It's often better to go with someone too, makes you feel less left out, or at least for me it does. But I also hate gyms and if I never step into one again I'm OK with that. If I had the money I would totally hire a personal trainer to come to my home and kick my butt!

Great job with the calories too :)

Yes, a personal trainer would be an awesome thing, but I also agree on the funds not quite being there!
Doing great again calorie wise. I actually have 260 left for the day, but I think I'm too full to eat anymore, plus it's 10pm. Gonna finish the day off at 1232 calories. I don't normally like to go so low. Prefer to keep it around 1500 on the weekdays so I can be freer on the weekends, but the odd occasion won't hurt me. Especially with 2 Christmas parties, and our family Christmas this weekend!
Can't wait till my next shopping trip so I can buy the food I want/need! I'm stretching my food as much as possible, and not cooking much cause I'm getting home at 7:30pm still needing to eat supper I just want something quick. So I've been surviving on granola bars, yogurt and frozen raspberries (ran out of those today), alpheghetti (ran out of that today) and bagels. Not terribly healthy I know, but my budget is strict and I've eaten most everything I bought last trip, and don't feel like taking 45 mins to make something when I get home. Next shopping trip I will have a more thought out list of what I need. Not sure when that will be though as I have 3 'potluck' type things this weekend so need certain ingredients for that, but am leaving for 4 days at Christmas so don't want too much that would go bad while I'm away.
Rode my horse but no other exercise today.
