Ya, Swiss Chalet is pretty good, we don't eat there a lot but it's nice when we do.
Calories were
Quarter Skinless White Chicken 220
I guessed at the sauce calories. They had sauce listed but I wasn't sure if that was for a full serving or not so put 150
Mashed Potatoes 100
Gravy 45
1 Cheddar Perogie 60
Again, guessed on calories on the sauce b/c I used so very little it was almost negligent 15

So a grand total of 590, and that's a pretty full meal! Calories may be a bit higher due to their website low balling the calories, but I left myself some wiggle room.
 
Be on the lookout for posted calorie amounts from restaurants as well. I've read a couple articles about independent testing discovering that certain restaurants and chains are routinely off by 50% or more on their estimates for meals. Differences in how the food is prepared and portion sizes are the biggest culprits if I remember the articles correctly. It certainly makes it challenging to stick to any sort of plan when you can't trust their reported numbers.
 
Thanks, ya I know they often aren't right, that's why I gave myself some leeway. With my exercising and such that day I think I am still safe.

So BAD news about my horse today. Tried riding him today for the first time since he got kicked. Picked up the trot and he was limping so bad I thought he might fall over. :( Vet is coming tomorrow to do x-rays. Very stressed and gonna try VERY hard not to eat emotionally. Sigh.

On the plus side, I am trying a new recipe in the crock pot today and it looks and smells so good! Can't wait to chow down!

I unfortunately did not do as good as I hoped food wise. My mom gave me back me Peanut Butter Squares I made for Christmas, cause I was like 'hey, on my higher calories I can have a snack or 2 a day' Well I ate them all today which is nearly 1200 calories!! I also ate both my chicken breasts instead of one. Ended my day (as long as I can stay out of the kitchen, even though I normally eat till 9pm and it's only 7pm) at 2800 calories, which means I am over maintenance by about 300 calories. :( Trying to convince myself to go to the gym and burn off some of those calories, but it's hard when I am stressed like this.
 
What is the vet prognoses? hope you horse is going to be ok, sometimes wouldn't you like to put them in a padded stable :|

I had only just recently turned my horse out to pasture 24/7 (in October), otherwise he had always been in a stall with individual paddock turn out for virtually the entire time I had him. However after an injury a year ago, his attitude dramatically changed due to the amount of time off/limited turn out he had to have to heal from it. When I did turn him out to pasture 24/7 his attitude improved dramatically!
So with his bruised knee, I was gonna pop him back outside after the week it took him to get better, however now that his knee is turning into quite a big deal, if the vet thinks he will come back to work I am terrified to turn him out and risk such a substantial injury, yet he was not very pleasant to ride with his attitude when inside. And he may need a lot of stall/limited turn out rest for this injury too, which means his attitude will most likely return or get worse. Anyways, just blabbering here.

I decided not to be mad at myself about my eating today. I still want to change my habits when it comes to emotional eating but I am not gonna be mad at myself. Just get right back on it tomorrow. I didn't have the energy to go to the gym, but tomorrow I will go.
 
Hey Mystic - don't beat yourself up about a day of food-comfort.... life happens.... and U do have major stress right now -
~ just hang-in until you hear from the vet , and try & chose healthy-option foods when you can.
~ it sounds like the squares were the start of your food-party....
.. I know when I have something with lots sugar- tends to make me crave/cave-in on hunger... almost "creates" hunger for me...

I gave my mom similar advice about quitting smoking: if she loses it one day at runs out and buys a pack, she should just resolve to quit again after the pack, rather than taking the attitude that she's blown it so she might as well give up.

I received devastating news about my horse today. He has a fracture radius. He will be on rest for at least 6 weeks, but we must be extremely careful as a bad slip or him being silly and he could shatter his leg. This is a major blow for me, but I will NOT binge today. I probably won't get to the gym, but at least I won't binge!

Hey Mystic - so very sorry to hear the bad- news about your horse's injury. I hope the 6 weeks recovery goes ok - ... do they do a splint or cast for fractures on horses?...

So glad yu have decided Not to binge today - it would just make you end up feeling worse - ...

...maybe call up a friend or get out for coffee or something... I find talking thru distress with a good pal helps...

bugger not so good news at all BUT it could be a lot worse I guess

My horses would hate to be stalled all the time, they are to used to the open paddocks :)

Thanks guys. I am doing well with my eating so far :) I made a new crock pot recipe and it turned out well, though I will change something the next time I make it as the sauce was a bit too thin. Before I pack away the leftovers I will take the lid off and let some of the liquid evaporate a touch.
For lunch I actually had alfredo and noodles!! I found this alfredo sauce that is only 70 calories for a quarter cup!! So for my noodles and sauce combined it was only 330 calories!! And it was quite good!

At 9pm, I suddenly lept up, changed, and went and did a full work out! 17 mins treadmill (2 min warm up, 2 min cooldown, 6.5 speed for 8 mins, 1 min walk 7.5 speed for 4 mins), lower body weights, 16 mins treadmill (3 min intervals at 6.5 speed, 1 min at 7.5 speed, 2 min cool down). Lower body weights days really kicks my butt!
 
Oh no, you are still going through a bit of a rough patch!!! Really hope you don't have any more complications with your horse, though I know even the 6 recovery weeks won't be fun.

Good on you for having a good food/exercise day regardless!!

Yes you are doing great!!! I for one know how hard it is to focus on diet/well being/ exercise when things don't go too well in other areas of life. My life has been super stressful because of husband's job/circumstances/pressure we are under & far away from all friends and family. Partly this was the reason I put so much weight back on (70! in a year). So you really are a champion for making it to the gym! You can totally be proud of yourself! :Angel_anim:

Eating well today so far. Have 500 calories left for the day. Don't think I will make it. Gonna have an apple now, may have 2 but that will probably be it for today so will probably end up around 1500 calories for the day.
Today was a rest day as sometimes weight lifting before a weigh in can show a gain due to your muscles retaining fluid and I really want the scale to show me a true number as much as possible.
 
Well, done 2 pounds this week from last week. Still need to lose 2.6 pounds to get back to where I was at the beginning of the month.

Starting Weight: 168lb (Original Weight from a few years ago, my heaviest)
Current Weight: 149.6lb
Mini Goal: 155lb by October 27th *MADE MINI GOAL Oct 19th*
Mini Goal: 150 lb by November 15th *MADE MINI GOAL Nov 9th*
New Mini Goal: 145 By Dec 7th *Didn't make it*
