Burlesque Babe

Hi Mystic,

So very sorry to hear about your poor horse :(- you must be devastated! I'm sending my very best wishes for a quick recovery for him ...

If you can, you could try to 'burn off' some of your worry and anxiety with some good strenuous exercise at the gym - will distract you and release those much-needed endorphins.
As stress relief, this always works for me better than comfort eating; it leaves me feeling far more positive instead of bloated & guilty. But of course at this moment you have far more serious things to worry about than the diet. Fingers crossed the vet's visit goes well & he can alleviate your suffering by telling you it's not a fracture and that your horse will make a full recovery.

Was reading your diary, and you've been doing great on the workout/dieting front - even if you slip up here & there, you are very good at bouncing back, even though it's tricky for everyone over the holiday period!

Don't worry about that 0.4 lbs lost, that is peanuts indeed. And since you're not racing to make goal, but making an overall lifestyle change it doesn't really matter too much in the long term if you plateau occasionally.
Best wishes again for your horse - do keep us updated on his progress x

He Mystic - sorry to hear about your horses' injury - hopefully vet's news will be ok -
~ & understandable on the comfort-habit of food/carbs for stress ,( I do that too ).... but , as Sophia said - try & also get some exercise in , it will help U feel better also ( & it's a healthier way to stress-cope.)

Sorry to hear about the horse injury. Hopefully the injury won't be too bad and the horse can at least make some level of recovery. Try and keep a little busy, though with your schedule it doesn't seem like that's a problem.

Thanks guys. I got great news from the vet!! He does not think the joint is involved or fractured, just that it's very bruised and has soft tissue damage. He feels that he will be healed in 5 days!!! This isn't 100% as we didn't take xrays as the vet was quite certain it didn't involve the joint and my horse was so much improved from yesterday. However if in 5 days he still doesn't look totally better we will get the vet out again.
However today culminated in another bad eating day. Just the stress of it all then the 'woosh' of relief that he should be fine. I got home and was just exhausted from it all.
However tomorrow I will be right back on track with eating well and getting to the gym! I will go to the gym tomorrow, Saturday, and sunday.

I'll keep some fingers crosses just in case. Glad to hear of the good news!

About the horse that is, not about the bad eating days. Don't worry about those - just get back on track when the stress subsizes.

Thanks guys! So I didn't get my exercise in. Had plenty of time, but no drive or energy. I just need to force myself back into the routine, but getting back in is obviously the hard part!
However I am right on track to be within my calories! Yay!!
The roads were crazy today due to a sudden and very large snow fall. Thankfully my trainer took care of my horse for me so I wouldn't have to make the 30 min (in GOOD weather) drive to the barn however I did have a scary episode on my drive home.
Copy and paste of my FB status
"Quick thinking saved me and my poor car from disaster today. I was driving near Canyon Meadows Theatre and didn't realize in time that the vehicle ahead of me was stopped, waiting to turn. The instance I touched my brakes I knew there was NO WAY I would stop in time. Just was NOT gonna happen, so I had to make a split second decision. I was gonna turn right and bump up the curb, however I had to turn at JUST the right second to compensate for the slide to keep me from hitting a vehicle that was parked on the side of the road. I could NOT turn too soon either as there was a tree to the right. I had to squeeze between the tree and the vehicle while bumping up onto the curb. I then had to continue with my right turn and pray I would stop in time before hitting some more trees that were ahead of me. Everything went according to plan and I saved my butt!! No worse for wear! (Except I may need new pants ;) )"

So I did good with my eating today, I was 30 calories over but I really don't mind that, haha. But I was reading a post on another forum that I think will really help me get back to the gym!! I had always gone to the gym, done my 30 mins of hard cardio, then my weights, but that 30 mins of cardio is SO daunting and horrid (and boring!) This poster said that they SPLIT their cardio. I was like what a FANTASTIC idea!! 15 mins is SO much less daunting, and I would be able to go harder for those 15 mins than I can for the full 30! So tomorrow I am gonna go to the gym and do 15 mins cardio, then my weights, then 15 mins cardio!! Excited to try this out!

Definitely not a great weigh in today, though not at all a shock. I don't think it's all actual gains, but water weight as well.

Starting Weight: 168lb (Original Weight from a few years ago, my heaviest)
Current Weight: 151.6lb
Mini Goal: 155lb by October 27th *MADE MINI GOAL Oct 19th*
Mini Goal: 150 lb by November 15th *MADE MINI GOAL Nov 9th*
New Mini Goal: 145 By Dec 7th *Didn't make it*
Final Goal: 128lb

Be careful on those roads. I was on the interstate once going from Chicago to Detroit and got smacked by an absolute white out. There were more cars in ditches than on the road. I was managing it pretty good until a truck well in front of me skidded out. Tried to stop as gently as I could, but I started to spin. I think I did about two and half full rotations before stopping about 10 feet from the truck. Cadillacs don't stop well in the snow.

Have I mentioned how much I don't miss snow?

Hey, just stopped to say hi! Was reading your diary yesterday. i am impressed with the mix of excercizes you are doing! So cool! I miss my old gym that had a great variety, but at my current weight I would probably shy away from the classes...

Seems like you had an eventful last week. Hope your horse gets well soon!!
& take care when driving!!!

Good luck with your weight loss!! :)

Wow, a very eventful week behind you for sure. Good to hear that your horse didn't sustain any serious injuries.

I'm sure things will fall back in line super quick when you get that positive momentum moving again. Having gone through a rough month or two myself I know it can be hard to get rolling in the right direction again but I have found that mixing up the routine and trying new (or returning old) activities has been a big help for me this month.

I've been testing out Fitocracy this week and even though it's another silly app, it has been helping.

Thanks guys!
Ugh, another bad eating day and didn't make it to the gym. I used my new slow cooker for the first time and made pulled chicken. It was pretty good, though I think I will experiment with different BBQ sauce. I kinda like the kind I have and kinda don't. This, and my leftover christmas dessert were the things that sent me over calories. Luckily I finished off all my leftover christmas dessert today so that temptation is gone!! I am hoping if I keep logging and keep reporting back here and keep trying that I can really get back on track and keep going towards my goal weight. I CAN do it. Gym tomorrow. Gonna be there by around 11am, no breakfast beforehand. Then have a 170 calorie omelet for lunch, then probably get a pedicure with a friend. Stop back at home to grab a snack (probably potato puffs) and pick up my dog then head straight to the barn to care for my horse who is looking better and better everyday! Then I don't really have any real plans for the rest of the day but careful eating will be the plan! And maybe a walk on the treadmill or something.

I'd eat some breakfast before going to the gym, or your time in the gym will be a lot harder than it has to be.

I haven't actually noticed any difference between when I eat breakfast before the gym and when I don't. I am not a big breakfast person anyways (I don't have it before work either) so I don't mind saving my calories for later in the day.

Hey Mystic - good luck with Gym tomorrow & healthy eats.

I'm glad to hear your horse is improving, & so glad to hear U got thru the icy-road incident ok- that sounds like it was scary, but sounds like you did some sound-winter driving skills.

Winter out here on the praries ( especially in this after Xmas/Newyrs bit-) - cold, boring..can be a drag - just gotta try & pull-up the socks & get moving- (despite the cold temp outside)...( it is hard to fight the urge to just curl-up inside the house & be lazy).

Wooo! On the workout.

I too got a slow cooker for x-mas. Made a pot roast this week that was not too bad. It's a little surprising how much weight the meat loses in the slow cooker. The three pound pot roast became a one and a half pound pot roast by the time it was done and that was before trimming the fat off.

Wow, I didn't weigh my chicken so not sure how much weight it lost. I am a little unsure of how to calculate calories on it though. There was a lot of liquid left in the cooker after it had cooked and I didn't use that liquid so obviously it doesn't count in my calories but I am not sure how many of the calories have absorbed into the meat. There's more than one ingredient in the liquid so I can't just weigh what's left and subtract it. Hmm.

Anyways, today I did 15 mins treadmill (7 speed for 6 mins, 6.5 speed for 5 mins, 8 speed for one minute, plus warm up and cool down, 1.60miles) before weights, then did upper body weights, then did 15 mins on the bike (forgot to check everything before I got off it). It will take a bit of getting used to to do cardio after weights, after I finished my weights I was like MAN, still gotta do cardio! But I think once I get used to it I will like it better as the 15 mins before and afterwards went pretty quick.
