Brawny's time machine

Like you said, better than no progress. I checked my week-by-week progress and saw that I've had a couple of 7-day spans where I lost very little, and I'm still early on in my process where the weight comes off pretty easily. Great job on the bike rides! I have a Giant brand bike that supposedly will support my mass, but I'm still just using my indoor stationary bike. I'd like to move outdoors at some point.

My bike is a recumbant indoor bike. When I bought it I told the guy I was looking for a recliner with pedals.

Wow, Brawny! Good to see you back...I lost track of all my good ole buddies there for awhile! I'm doing OK...still training up for the Great Wall marathon on 1 May...weight staying pretty steady and slowing dropping % bodyfat. I still have about 30 pounds to get to my official goal.

So good to see you back!!
Sarah

;) Focus!!

Isn't that just cool that your exercise tolerance is improving? A month ago it was hard for me to do 30 mins on the elliptical. Now I can do 60 mins :D

Great job on the exercise! Maybe as you look back at those 3000cals that shouldn't have been there focus on getting that in control this week (as you have the exercise part down) and I'm sure you will have a great surprise with your weight loss.

Hey Brawny, 1.4 lbs is a pretty good loss, let's be honest here! I can certainly relate to the pain of "I shouldn't have eaten that" - Always killing myself with that one. Especially when I stop in the kitchen before going to bed. Really, my intention was just a glass of water, but it sure goes downhill once I picture what's in the cupboards and freezer...

As a bonus, my wife is pregnant, and craves only fruit - which makes me look the bigger schlub when I'm chowing down on junk food. First World Problems...

Wow! Lots of good advice and even visits from old friends...Cool!

Still gaining exercise momentum...I have now exercised 11 out of the last 16 days and 30 minutes is no problemo!

Also...I have eaten really really well for 2 days in a row. Perhaps I am gaining some traction in that area.

I havent hit the scales but I feel lighter. (Van Halen quote: "I dont feel tardy")

There is a skinny boy in me and he wants out!

You feel lighter - that's cute!!
I always feel lighter after exercise!!! I feel like a skinny person - then i face the mirror!lol

I still have room to get more focused on my eating. Looking back and being completely honest, I can see about 3000 calories total last week that should not have been there. that would have been almost a pound more off which I would have been happy with.

Focus, Focus, Focus

I tend to struggle with the eating a little bit too. It can be really hard to look back on your week and see all of these things that you could have done differently with your food. What's done is done, though. Just put one foot in front of the other and try to skip those 3000 calories this week. :D

Ok Brawny, now that you're back in the saddle on that bike, why not give yourself a challenge for March? Xx miles per week gradually increasing it throughout the month of something like that? All you coach types like a challenge, I just know it!

Or another challenge - how many trees can you punch down in March?

(sorry, I felt the need to contribute, I just didn't have much to bring to the table this time)

Ok Sarah Im up for that...How about....Hmmmm...Thinkin>>>>.Hmmm...Smoke coming out of his ears....Ok
March goal_ I will ride 120 miles in March.

That will be like 40 miles more than I will get in Feb.

You have successfully brought out the ol coach that lurks within me. Now where did I put my whistle and polyester 1980s coaching shorts?

You gonna eat the challenge for breakfast man! That skinny dude inside you will jump out and shout IM BACK!!!:)

Hello old and new friends....Well here I am again. I have come and gone from this place several times in the last 4 years. As a school administrator I really get busy in springtime and I am prone to fall off the wagon. I am sorry for my disappearing act.

Usually it is some event that slaps me in the face and lets me know I have backslidden in my health and diet.

Here is the story this time. My oldest is about to be a senior so we have begun looking at colleges. I took a tour with him 3 weeks ago. We walked all around the university. I made it but barely. Was really huffing and puffing when we climbed 4 flights of stairs to look down on the finess center (ironic huh?)
Came home got on the scales and was 298.....Not back to 336 or so as I was in 2009 but dangerously close to that number that starts with 3 that I said I would never be at again. Still I was ashamed to report on here. But I did get active.

This morning I was at 290. So I mustered the self esteem to report and seek help. I dusted off my stationary bike and have been on it quite a bit. My lowest point in 15 years was about 277 or so back in 2009 but realistically I need to be much lower than that.
So... I am back and I plan on keeping after it. I turn 50 in a year and a half. I want to see some significant weight and life changes in that time.
