Laureelee- Funny you should ask. My blood sugar was sky high before I started this program. Like 250 in the morning. But has improved with my plan, however it still needs to be much better. It was 210 this morning before I got on the bike but 160 after (still way too high). I feel I am right on the verge of big improvement if I can drop another 20 or so lbs. I take a slow acting insulin before bed time and metforin during the day. I think I might could get off the insulin with 20-40lbs more loss. Pretty important huh?

Happy Feb peeps!

All the three week wonders who made their resolutions and didnt stick with it are gone. Just us few are still here. To those of you still in the game....take a minute and be proud of yourself for still pluggin away at this quest.

Im gonna dig my way out of this mess one day at a time.

I have had no fast food in 32 days!

I exercised 24 days in Jan!

I was on target (or pretty damn close) 30 out of 31 days in Jan!

I must resolve to continue. When I have made this good of a start what could justify getting off track?....Nothing!

never crossed my mind to be happy I made it to February but you are right, all those new years resolution makers who came, posted one diary post and then disappeared are a good motivator...to not be like that, to not disappear into the oblivion of...page 2 of the diary board...*shivers* page two is where the dead diaries go.

Yep, January was a kick ass month for a few of us. And hopefully our sucesses can motivate those that come here looking for motivation. Good job Brawny!

Thanks Oldschool

Hey Brawny,

Nice job on the goals for the month, achievable but will require dedication to meet them day in day out. I did notice you asking for salad and have to admire your bravery as I had heard that anyone caught eating salad in Texas is running the risk of getting kicked out.

Congrats on logging a very solid month. Hears to the next 11 months being equally good for 2012.

Wow Brawny...you go man! I agree with Old school...more miles in less days! way to go!!

You're making great progress...you're very close to Valentine's day goal already...awesome! Very proud of you and thank you so much for your fun posts in my diary!!

Always fun to see the big red bird!

Sarah

Late posting....had to go to a meeting....Texas High School football realignments released. Big day down here. Had to see if we got a good district....We did....we should be competitive....as an old football coach myself I still get a charge out of it.

But why do I bring this up you ask?

Took my athleic director down there and we stopped at cheddars to eat on the way back....I tried hard...ordered a dijon mushroom chicken with steamed broccolli and house salad with honey mustard dressing. (less than 600 cal.total) Would have been less than 500 but they put a cressant roll with my salad...damn them...

Rode 9 miles on bike this morning so that was good...

Busy Busy Busy...will hit yalls threads later.

Feeling gooder_ We do like our steaks and BBQ down here. Don't report my salad eating to the Davy Crocket society

If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it.

If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.

If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.

Bravo for Brawny! :hurray:

Ordering steamed broccoli at Cheddar's? It's good that you can avoid the big pitfalls when you find yourself stopping somewhere that would threaten to throw you off plan.

That's a great sign of things to come

Now its time for a free analysis from the brawnster:

I feel I have now entered what I will call phase 2 of my road to health and skinnytown. I am on kinda shaky ground here because I have only made it to phase 2 once before.

The first 25 lbs is about off and somehow I am still on plan but the new has worn off.

So what can I do to keep going? Heres my "push thru phase 2 plan"

1. Keep posting on here. This site (and you cool people) have been a really big help for me.

2.Keep setting short term goals. Small attainable goals spliced together add up to big things.

3.Begin to branch out my fitness plan. I dont want to get bored so I am gonna add some new things. Like push up, crunches, walking and light weights

4.Buy a few new clothes. My 42 and 44 jeans are really loose and I only have one pair of 40's

5.Keep my sense of humor. I can't take myself too seriously

That concludes my report I will now file triplicate copies in the round recepticle near my desk

Have a great weekend friends....I may get to post some this weekend. I need to come up here and do a bit of work on the exposion of paper that has occurred on my desk

Phase 2 list looks real good.

Adding the new activities should serve a few purposes as it'll keep your body from adjusting too much and keep the weight coming off. Was listening to a podcast this morning that mention HIIT training high intensity interval training that might help shake up the biking as well. Basically sounded like doing 10-30 second sprints followed by a minute or two of recovery.

I'll be trying to avoid the pitfalls of phase 2 as well. The big losses are behind me and now it's time to keep making those right choices, celebrate all the small victories and focus on feedback other than the numbers on the scale. Let me know if you find a few things that work for you.

Have a great weekend,

Phase II sounds so, official. You better stick to the plan or a bunch of beaurocrats might file a greivence against you (in triplicate).

I had a set back that wasnt really a setback...except in my head

So I mentioned on here that my scale was possessed. I would step on it 3 times and get 3 different #s so I would go with an average.

Well my new scale arrived....and it weighed me like 5lbs heavier than the old one....and it is consistent. So I guess I weigh 279.

I dont know why I feel kinda defeated about that because I dont think I gained that 5 lbs. I was just getting a different # on the old scales.

I still have lost. I just must reset with this new scale and head on down from here. i just hate to push through the 270 twice (at least mentally) ...Crap!

The good news...Rode bike 12 miles Sat. And I really like the new scale (thanks old school). Also did a few push ups and crunches.

Didnt go too nuts at the superbowl party. I had 700 calories reserved for it and actually ate about 900 having a total of 2200 yesterday.

All I know to do is really buckle down and get through these 270s or else its gonna seem like I am here forever. I want 275 by Sat. That is a hard goal for me at this stage so I gotta ramp up the exercise

and be near perfect with eating.

sorry about your scale. dont let it get you down though or dwell on it. just keep pushing forward and you will get there. Nice work saturday going 12 miles. That a great workout. I think you did good on superbowl sunday. Its so easy to go over on a day like that. heck a few beers and your already over. so good work keeping an eye on that. I look forward to seeing you achieve your goals.

:iagree: with size32, what this particular scale says doesn't change the fact that you've lost the same amount of weight and inches since starting out. The mental setback does exist and you've acknowledged it, now it's time to score a perfect week.

By the sounds of it though, the new scale may actually be registering on the high side since it sounds like it's actually heavier than your doctor's scale. On a positive note, you're going to get a lot more accurate weekly numbers now with the new scale.

Hey Brawny77,

You are right that consistency is the key...not the actual number. You know you haven't gained...and I understand how you have that defeat mentally, you'll need to have a way to reset..and yes, pass through 270 again. The good news is, it's not the end of the world! I love your proverb by the way...so true! Keep up the good work..you are a bike riding machine!

Sarah

I have biked 43.33 miles in Feb and 210.86 since Jan 1.....pretty good for a fat boy.

Was just about perfect yesterday. Ate about 1700 calories, exercised got on the scale this morning and only saw a .4 lb decrease.....ugh!

On well I am at the point where my body is jealously holding on to weight. I have been here before. In the past, if I can stay dilligent for a few days I will get past this plateau and turn loose of a few pounds. I am fighting minor crap. Like right now I have an ingrown toenail on my pinky toe. I still can ride my stationary bike but it can get bothersome. It is easy to see how a person could let any number of piddly things give them an excuse to lay off (aka quit).

Fighting on through this....There is a light at the end of the tunnel....hope its not a train coming this way.

Oh, Pla-teau-ohs ... why do you insist on taunting us so?

I am now declaring February is plateau awareness month. The new car smell has faded, the big losses are gone, and now it's down to fighting and clawing every step of the way.

Those are impressive stats on the Bike, only 7 days in and already over 40 miles is great. Well on your way to meeting the Feb goal.

Watch out for that ingrown toenail, would hate to see that piddly thing get worse and threaten to sideline you for any length of time.

Hey brawny, I agree with feelinggooder...I love the Plateau awareness month declaration!

You know the deal...keep at it and it will eventually come off...it has no choice! Now that you have that new fangled digital scale, I'm sure you want to see big results...won't happen any faster on the new scale than it did on the old one...you're doing the right stuff...keeping up the awesome exercise and biking and low calorie intake...it can't help but come off...but never as fast as we want it to!

Keep up your good work and attitude and it will happen!

Sarah
