Hello peeps!
I have this little problem that when you lay food in front of me....I eat it... Gotta get my mind around defeating that situation more often...

I UNDERSTAND YOU COMPLETELY!

Sorry... I had to caps that :) But yeah, I know what you're going through. Damn free food and buffets!

Where are you?! I really hope it's not the grease rags that are keeping you away :p Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Time has a way of passing right on by doesnt it? Well...At the risk of being a cheesy new years resolution person. I am back. I lost 59 lbs back in 2009 and I have gained 19 of it back. I have been on plan since Dec 26th and have dropped 5. My plan is to menu plan (if it aint on the plan it doesnt go in my mouth) Exercise starting moderate and working up to more intense. I am a weirdo who actually likes exercise. And..stay positive and stay spiritual. I will be on-plan basically forever, thats just they way it is for me. I will either be on a losing plan or on a maintaining plan. Right now its a losing plan. Here I go

Ive been reading my old posts from 2009 when I was on such a good roll. This list is still true for me.

Non caloric things I love:
Coffee (I take mine black and staight up)
Fireplace fires
Things made out of leather or wood or cotton (I know this is random)
Having lots of friends but only a few really really good friends
A warm bed on a cold morning
A new book to read and lots of time to do it
Teamwork
Humor
Guitars and watching my sons start to love them too
Music…all kinds…well almost all kinds
Old beat up barns (they don’t get any more beat up than mine)
Good dogs (these fall into the few really good friends category mentioned above)

Lots of good things to enjoy that are not FOOD!

Rode my stationary bike twice yesterday for a total of 8 miles

Rode it 5.2 miles this morning.

Had a nice fire in the fireplace this morning and a big cup of coffee to launch me onto the bike.

Ate under 1600 calories yesterday (but I sure wanted to do some eating last night, but I fought it off)

I think I Can...I think I can...

All these lines on my face getting clearer

Afternoon update- I have eaten about 900 calories so far today. Thats a little more that half of what I get. At 6 ft 1 in I can lose weight at 1700-1800 cal. a day. Problem is I want to eat 1700 per meal.

Gotta get my mind on right before I get home. That 7 or 8 hundred calories I have left will go quick.

I must keep forming new better habits and thats gonna take more time. I also plan on getting back on my exercise bike for a small amout of time.

Pass the carrot sticks please.

Hey Brawny77

Thanks for stopping by my diary. I hadn't seen you before, but now, looking back, it's clear you are a really motivating source...with alot of followers who really are addicted to your words of encouragement and diary style...and I'm becoming one of your addicts...in a good way (I also love to eat...and of course it shows!). I've got a little goal in mind to go back to a family reunion on Memorial Day and turn a few "over 50" heads (including my husband's!)..with my work and all of this encouragement, I really believe it will happen!

Thanks again and look forward to your posts!

Sarah

Sarah...Thanks for dropping in... Memorial day will give you plenty of time to make really noticeable changes. One day at at a time is how you make progress.

Well.....this morning the new definitely wore off my plan....I didn't want to get out of my warm bed to exercise....but...I did anyway and IT WAS VERY EMPOWERING! To actually fight through it when way too often in the past I would have layed there and slept. It was way worth it...I know it was a measly 20 minute bike ride but I think it will have a big difference on my whole day! I claim a baby victory

Rode that bike 6.22 miles this morning! Inching into better shape....thats 5 days in a row and 8 out of 9!

I have had about 500 calories so far today Its now a bit after 1p.m. here so thats right on target. I eat most of my calories in the evening.

I snuck on the scale this morning because I could feel I had lost some and....Down 10lbs since Dec 26! Thats good but I always do good in the first few days. Its the next few weeks that will really count.

But....so far so good....

And now a motivational story to support our quest for long healthy life...

Toward the end of the Sunday service, the Minister asked, "How many of you have forgiven your enemies?"

80% held up their hands.

The Minister then repeated his question. All responded this time, except one man, an avid golfer named Walter Barnes, who attended church only when the weather was bad.

"Mr. Barnes, it's obviously not a good morning for golf. It's good to see you here today. Are you not willing to forgive your enemies?"

"I don't have any," he replied gruffly.

"Mr. Barnes, that is very unusual. How old are you?"

"Ninety-eight," he replied. The congregation stood up and clapped their hands.

"Oh, Mr. Barnes, would you please come down in front & tell us all how a person can live ninety-eight years & not have an enemy in the world?"

The old golfer tottered down the aisle, stopped in front of the pulpit, turned around, faced the congregation, and said simply, "I outlived all the sons of bitches."

Have a nice day!

Your diary makes me smile brawny! Full of unique/funny things. Great job on riding that bike! So many miles, and nice work on the calories and losing weight. I like your last post, very humorous!

Brawny enters wearing philosophers robes (actually its just a robe he stole from a hotel)...He speaks:

Ok what does it take to cause permanent change? Here is what I think.

1.Realization that you need to change and the way you have been doing things isn't working

2. Support....Like well...this place...or a diet buddy or a program like weight watchers

3 A commitment....actually buying the gym membership or the running shoes...something that changes it from a dream to something real

4.Time to form positive habits (starts getting hard here)

5. Patience...We all want to get there too quickly, It took us a long time to get fat, It will take a while to get skinny

6. Spirituality....Enjoying life on the way to our goals

Okay that's about as deep as I get

AI LOOOOVE THIS:

So so true. I am going to have to come up with a list myself :) And all those things I know I love, I don't do enough of. We are funny creatures, aren't we? :)
P.S. I also love guitar... I have four now... I'm hoping that a life filled with music will inspire the little beings that will also grow up in or visit this house. Good job on getting your sons into it!

I have loved guitars since I was 15. I have 2, my oldest son has 3 and my next son (the middle kid) has a bass and a ukelele (did I spell that right? He is quite good on that thing. He says its a chick magnet. He is 13 and becoming quite the ladys man. Below is the guitar my oldest just saved up and bought. Its an exotic wood Ibenez and is the best playing 400 dollar guitar I have ever seen. It plays as good as my 1000 dollar Takamine.

One more thing

I doubt I post any this weekend. I live our in the country and dont have internet at rancho del brawny (home) and I really doubt I come into the office this weekend sooo I will see you peeps on Monday!

Stay motivated this weekend!

And as we wind on down the road
our shadows taller than our soul
there walks a lady we all know
who shines white light and wants to show
how everything still turns to gold
and if you listen very hard
the tune will come to you at last
when all are one and one is all
to be a rock and not to roll.
