blonds...

you know, vietnam is the only country that i've been to where there weren't blond (or foreign) women plastered everywhere, especially in asia. i guess it's not too surprising given it's incredible history -- they are proud and have a right to be. they are so freakin' hardcore.

Hmm, I'd never thought about that. They are by far the most beautiful women I've ever seen. I'm blown away daily. It may be a big factor in why I'm still here :)

i'm surprised to hear that so many people like brunettes. i TOTALLY imagined that the most common response would've been: "i'm attracted to all women who are hot, regardless of hair color."

I was hoping for lots of 'dumb blonde' jokes

HHHMMMm.....

I just like girls that are HAWT.

Well, I am blonde. As a child, I was always ashamed of it. I stuck out like a sore thumb since there were so few true blondes at my school. I got teased for it too. I've never considered hair color to be a major indicator of attractiveness though. I also rarely see blondes in advertising like you said you saw. There are many more women with brown hair in the magazines.

I've never felt like other women envy my hair color, although I should since so many women get their hair colored to look like mine. I'm almost a strawberry blonde, and my hair color ranges from reddish brown underneath to very light blonde on top. I see lots of women with streaks of blonde in their hair trying to emulate what I have naturally. It seems strange to me since I grew up thinking being blonde wasn't necessarily attractive.

this is an interesting post, particularly because you are blond. yeah, my closest friend when i was a child was blond and she kind of got made fun of...called "blondie" or laughed at when her hair turned green in the chlorine! oops...but, thanks for your insight. i was hoping that someone blond, particularly a woman, would leave comment.

btw, i don't know if you should feel like women envy you just because they dye their hair blond. if you didn''t feel that way before this thread, then there's no reason to start now.

One funny story, one of my guy friends actually said that when he first met me he didn't think I was a natural blonde. I was quite insulted. He said I seemed to smart to be a natural blonde. Isn't that crazy?

that is crazy!

Since I'm not sexually attracted to women, I can't say I'm "drawn" to women of any particular hair color, nor do I envy women of a particular hair color. I envy or admire other women when they have a certain air of confidence about them that I aspire to have.

my question isn't about sexual attractiveness though if someone chooses to answer that way, that's ok. i'm also not talking about what what someone admires in other women. i don't think any woman would say "i admire blond women." i am talking about whether or not society/environment has influenced one's perception of beauty (could be subconscious) so that blond women are held on more of a pedestal.

as for myself, i'm not sexually attracted to women but i can appreciate beautiful women and i definitely notice when they are attractive or sexy. i'm not a lesbian but i am human.

Hmm, I'd never thought about that. They are by far the most beautiful women I've ever seen. I'm blown away daily. It may be a big factor in why I'm still here :)

i realize that my comment may have come out wrong! i didn't mean that that countries that advertise with foreign women aren't beautiful or don't feel beautiful. adversing and western products/influence often go hand in hand. anyway, i agree that vietnamese women are really beautiful and they seemed to be the most beautiful women in the world when i was there. but then again...i also felt that way when was i in india, in china, living in japan...so, i'm definitely influenced by my environment and exposure to so many people and beautiful cultures. it's was most dramatic for me when i visited india - i was completely floored. the women there were sooooo beautiful.

I have dark hair and dark skin and I can honestly say that I am not the least bit envious of blonds. I have always loved my hair color. I work with a girl who is blond and she is always saying she is jealous of me because the men that come in the bank hit on me more than they do her! lol
I dont think that there is any women with one hair color that are more beautiful than others. There are beautiful women with every hair color. :)

Hair color and heritage are most definitely NOT indicators of beauty. A beautiful woman is a beautiful woman...

Examples:

Aryshwaria Rai-Brunette
Salma Hayek-Brunette
Ziyi Zhang-Brunette
Monica Belucci-Brunette
Charlize Theron-Blonde
Marilyn Monroe-Blonde
Grace Kelly-Blonde
Michelle Pfeiffer-Blonde
Juliane Moore-Redhead
Marcia Cross-Redhead
Nicole Kidman-Redhead

Funny. I always thought Nicole Kidman was blonde.

Yeah, she's a natural redhead, you can see from all her older movies. I just needed another redhead example, I couldn't think of any LOL.

I guess I could have said Lindsey Lohan. I mean, crazy life and problems aside, she trully is a beatifuly woman...

And I completely agree with you Dewyddon, I think some people can pull off blonde and some can't, the same goes for Brunnettes.

So many blondes go brunette and stay (Wynona Rider, Rachel McAdams, Mandy Moore)...we women are always tryaing to change our looks LOL

Such a list written by a female. some are good but, geez =P

not EVERYONE thinks so =]

hey guys,

i think i might have posed the question wrong. i'm not asking what hair color you prefer or if hair color is a factor in deciding whether you are attracted to someone. however, if you are gonna say that you are attracted to brunettes, then i'd like to know why??? otherwise, it doesn't mean anything.

anyway, i'm wondering if anyone subconsciously thinks that blonds are more attractive or could be more attractive? for example, if you see two good looking women in the room, do you notice the blond first?

why do you think so many women dye their hair blond?

why do we have "dumb blond jokes" and on the other hand, we say "blond bombshell" and not "brunette bombshell."

is it possible that you all are not affected by society in this way? of course it is but why? how? what do you think about these things?

Well, maybe it's a regional thing. Are Americans the only ones who use the term 'blond bombshell'?

Or maybe the blonds will get noticed first because they are actually the minority? Dark hair, dark eyes, and darker skin are actually genetically more prominent.

I don't know. But what I do know is that I'd have to disagree with your friend who thinks that brunettes resent or envie blond women. Blonde hair will get you no where if it's on an ugly face (no offense)...

I'm into hawt women of all appearances (read: hawt), but on the given scenario with two identical women, one blonde, and one brunette, I'd probably be more attracted to the blonde, if even the slightest amount. Here's why:

Blondes to me are more exotic. Being an asian male, blonde hotties are the kind of women I am not supposed to be able to get. Maybe that's a severe exaggeration, but I sometimes get that vibe from society. Blonde white women are also exotic in relation to my ethnicity. I know a lot of white dudes who like asian chicks...well, it's the same thing, except reversed. Colored eyes are the best. And finally, my definition of beauty has been heavily influenced by society...I find a lot of quailities attractive in females such as straighter volumous hair, lack of body hair, full tits, etc. Qualities such as these vary from society to society. Unfortunately the (blonde) white woman carries these traits most famously, so I look like a racist.

Those are the reasons why I probably seem like a dog, but the reality is that anyone who is hawt takes precedence over these rationalizations I've listed.

hey man...thanks for your post. this is EXACTLY the type of honestly i was hoping to get and understand from people. i'm so happy that you mentioned a bit about yourself, too and i can relate (to a certain extent).

basically, the "friend" that i mentioned in my first post is my boyfriend and he said it in reaction to me! i was quick to dismiss his comment but the more i thought about it, i started to realize that i did have sort of warped deep, deep seeded resentment and envy of blond women, even if buried and only slight. i didn't think i did but the more i started to take notice of my response to blond women, it was pretty obvious. i'm not an asian male but i'm also not a white women so even if i dyed my hair, i still wouldn't be "blond". while it's not analogous to your situation, i do have a similar subconscious (or conscious) interest in blond hair as it carries the same connotation of exoticism, beauty and the feeling that it's totally out of reach.

otherwise, my boyfriend is chinese and i'm black/SE asian (of course i'm both ethnicities but i look more black). i pretty sure that my boyfriend grew up feeling the same way that you did and for the same reasons you mentioned. and actually...now that i think about it, that's probably the reason that he could pinpoint my own insecurity. anyway, he did end up with me and that's still pretty rare to see!

You're very welcome. I have a feeling most of those who vehemently denied attraction to blondes out of nowhere are afraid to admit that they are in fact attracted to blondes but don't want to look shallow, or are indeed carrying some kind of resentment towards blondes. It probably has to happen because society LOVES blonde women and there has to be some kind of rationalization occuring within the minds of everyone who witnesses it.

Now if you'll excuse me I am going to try to spit some game to one of these blonde hotties.

No I'm not kidding. Bye.

Im the opposite really, i prefer darker haired women because it is more acceptable in my culture.

Blondes are cool, but brunettes are more exotic. There are so many blondes and we've been told that blondes are the best. I dont feel that way. Dark hair is just hot. I guess I should specify that I mean black hair, not just brown.

Black>blonde>brown>red hair>punk hair

Derwyddon, i totally know what you mean about eye color. i personally love green eyes -- they are so intriguing and really mesmerizing!

i never really thought too much about it, but i definitely get pangs of jealously when green-eyed women are around. green eyes are just freakin' hot but i never notice them on men. strange i guess. but anyway, like you basically said, the grass is always greener...

and girl, please - you didn't ramble! thanks for sharing :)
