Wow, I've never been so neglectful of my diary. :blush5:

The Australian Invasion is over, and the invading in-laws have been returned to their home country..lol. Actually it was really good having them here. Even MIL wasn't too bad. :biggrinjester: But I did enjoy it more after she left.

May is 2.5months old now and has seen a lot already. We went to Chicago, Mackinac Island (pronounced Mack-in-naw), Detroit, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Tahquamemon Falls, Whitefish Point Lighthouse and Shipwreck Museum. She has seen 4 of the 5 Great Lakes: Michigan, Superior, Huron and Erie. She's been to the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, driven through some of Detroit's worst areas and through its best suburbs (Grosse Point). She's crossed the Mackinac Bridge twice and taken a ferry ride twice. She's been on a horse drawn carriage and a bicycle. She has travelled much of Michigan already. Too bad she won't remember any of it!! :D

So now our basement is finally finished, and we have spent the last three days all alone in what feels like a big house since we've always had guests since it was finished--the carpeting went down 4hrs before MIL arrived!! :svengo:

I have quite a few pics so I'll get on with the show. :)

The first 4 are of May at two months. One is with her Aussie grandma, the other with her dad (I hate the beard!), and with me over looking Arch Rock on Mackinac Island. Her Aussie aunties took loads more pics of her, and I will post some once they get them to me.

Here are some vacation pics. The first one is overlooking Lake Huron from Mackinac Island. The second is me in front of the Grand Hotel--which has the longest covered porch in the world. The third is the sign outside the hotel stating its evening dress code. The fourth is from our horse-drawn carriage tour of the island. Fifth pic is another shot from the Mackinac Island.

1. The Mackinac Bridge. It's 5 miles long and was the longest suspension bridge in the world from 1957 until the late 1990s. It connects Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas and separates Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

2 and 3. Lake Superior from Whitefish Point. This area has seen hundreds of shipwrecks due to very stormy waters that can sink 800ft long oreboats. there's one in the background. the famous Edmund Fitzgerald sunk not far from there.

And now the long-awaited pics of the condo. Here's the walkout basement:
1. The family room which we are using as our bedroom
2. May's room
3. The bathroom
4. The view out the French doors

Hi, I'm Steve. I'm kind of a big deal around these parts.

:p

Damn woman, you've been MIA long!

Very cool pics... she's beautiful.

Here are the before pics. We painted everything--including the kitchen cabinets, all new flooring throughout--tile in the laundry and baths, laminate wood on the main level and carpet in the basement, new kitchen appliances, new kitchen countertops, new backsplash, finished the entire basement which pretty much doulbed the square footage. Oh, yes, and stripped ugly floral wallpaper in the main floor bedroom and bath. We also put in new light fixtures in the kitchen/dining area and new kitchen and bath faucets. The french doors in the basement were not there originally--there was just a big picture window that you can see in the b4 pics. So now there is a way to get onto the patio below the deck.

And May is just now waking up from a nap--perfect timing as I'm done uploading photos..lol

May looks beautiful, and the condo is GORGEOUS! Big step up from parent's house, plus new baby. Wow things have changed a lot over the last few years that we met.

The condo looks fantastic!! And of course, May is gorgeous! She looked a lot like you in the beginning but I'm seeing a little more of her dad in her features now.

Good to have you back here and on FB.

And I kinda like the beard.

Alta--Thanks! She's a great baby and I'm lucky to have her. :)

Claudia--Thanks for the compliaments. It's so nice to finally have the condo done--well the decorating isn't finished, but the vast bulk of work is done. Yes, things have really changed over the past year. This time last year I was still living with the parents, not quite preggers yet, and H and I were in Sunderland on our way to Scotland, having a great time.

Amy--I will not tell David about your beard comment--I don't want to give him any encouragement to keep it--he refuses to shave it so far. :ack2: I see a lot of her dad in May's actions and some of her faces..lol.

May is sleeping 8-9hrs straight most nights, then eating and going back to sleep for 1-4 more hrs. Yes, I am blessed. :D She isn't fussy much, and when she is, it's b/c she's either tired, hungry or gassy and is easy to calm down. I've never spent a night walking the floors with her--yet. :)

Awesome news about May's sleeping arrangements. I was also blessed with a sleepy baby that never fussed. From my experience, babies like that turn into toddlers that dont have terrible two's and are very nonfussed and sweet and easy.

How's the baby weight going?

I havent been by in forever.

Loved all the pics, the condo looks great:)

Just caught up on you being back in your diary.

Great in-law holiday pics and fantastic condo pics. What a fantastic home you have now. I know that it has been a lot of hard work for you - but you really can enjoy the fruit of your labour now.

May always looks wonderful. It is great that she is sleeping so well and therefore allowing you to do so too.

I was just thinking over the past week how it was exactly a year since you were over here. Your life has really changed in an extraordinary way since then.

I hope that your mother's health is improving. I know that you were VERY concerned about both your parents before your in laws came over.

Claudia--I hope May follows in La Nina's footsteps..lol.

Cerella--Thanks for stopping by. I lurked in your diary awhile back during the breakup, but never posted b/c I was busy and find it hard to type one-handed while feeding May..lol. Sorry about all that, but it sounds like you've gotten over it, which is great. Just take it slowly and remember that most men are jerks, so don't expect this one to be any different--and then if he turns out to be different you can be pleasantly surprised. :smilielol5: Don't give your heart away--make him earn it. :)

Margaret--I am enjoying the fruits of my labors--plural--the condo and May..I'm not sure which labor was longer..haha Sunday is the anniversary of the day I conceived. Can't believe it's been a year already. can't believe May will be 12 weeks old tomorrow either.

Mom has regained her marbles, but physically is in no shape to come home. She is having a lot of trouble keeping water weight off, so she has been in a long-term care facility for over two months now. No idea when she'll be home. Looks like she has sleep apnea, and now has to wear an oxygen mask at night.
