BikiniBound's Diary

I too love shopping for baby clothes.
Here is a useful hint.
Keep your eye out for the clearance rack in the clothing. Even though you don't know if your having a boy of a girl they do still sell some things neutral.
If you can, pick up things here and there for next summer, fall and winter. Otherwise you will always be buying for the size your babe is instead of buying ahead. At least for that 1 year.
Lets see your due March 21st so I would say you need size 6-9 months for most of summer. And I would shoot for 12 months stuff for the fall winter.
Most babies are wearing 12 months before their 1st b-day.

I cannot be bothered with spending $$ on baby clothes yet. My first priority is getting the condo ready to move into. Then I'll be busy getting the basement finished. I'm sure I'll get a lot of stuff at Christmas and at my baby shower. I'm not gonna buy too much until my 3rd trimester. I may not even need newborn sizes, as both H and I were big babies, there's a good chance I'll have a 9-10 pounder which I think would put me into 3-6mo sizes anyway..lol.

Brandy--Most of your friends on WLF are pregnant? Besides me and Tammy and Heather, who else? Don't feel bad--you have plenty of time to have babies. When I was your age that was the LAST thing I wanted. College and babies do not mix well. Better to wait until you're finished, and making enough money to support a baby--they are not cheap. :)

Margaret--Dad told me today he knows he's lost weight b/c his clothes are fitting looser. :hurray: He is losing more smartly this time imo b/c he's not denying himself all sweets and naughty things. He's just limiting them. I think that's great b/c it's realistic for long term. Normally he would be rather Spartan and then revert back to his old ways after a few weeks or months and gain all the weight back.

Val--The stress is not gone..lol. Now I'm stressed about getting the condo fixed up asap so we can actually move in. :ack2:

Amy--I'm glad you were napping. I'm sure you could use the sleep. I'm a big promoter of napping, and try to take as many as I can these days especialy..lol.

Well, the food cravings have kicked in..lol. I've been craving the hell out of Korean food..lmao. If only there was a Korean restaurant nearby. The nearest one is a good 30min away. :cuss: It's funny b/c when I was living in Korea a Canadian friend of mine (married to a Korean) was preggers and pre-pregnancy she loved Korean food and cooked it nearly everyday. But her whole 1st trimester the smell of it had her running to the toilet. She banned Korean food from their house and told her H he'd have to go to his mother's for it.

Yesterday my mom made smoked sausage and cooked cabbage for dinner. Usually I like that, but atm it sounds just awful to me, and I couldn't bring myself to eat it..lol. I've really been craving fruit and carbs lately. Can't seem to get enough.

Been watching the olympics like a crazy fool. I find it so inspiring, and I want the U.S. to beat the Chinese in the medal count..lol. I'm just pissed that the IOC gave China the Olympics in the first place, due to their abysmal human rights abuses and the way they've treated some of their own citizens in preparation for the games. However, I will say that they've been great hosts so far and that I'm really enjoying watching the games.

We finally did some work on the condo today. H got one of the kitchen cabinets off the wall..lmao. Next time he'll bring a cordless drill instead of using a screwdriver. I started stripping the wallpaper from the bedroom. That is much harder than I thought it would be. :ack2: I'm taking a different approach tomorrow. ;) Thank God she only papered that and that bathroom, and not the entire condo. :D

Sounds like the condo is coming along! It's exciting, but alot of hard work and money I bet.

I've not tried Korean food, tho I want too. I would assume most of it would be healthy and good for you, and hear its spicy- I like that. With my first pregnancy I craved Italian food- ate it at least once a week. Now my oldest still LOVES Italian food.

way they've treated some of their own citizens in preparation for the games
You have heard by now that during the opening ceremonies, there was a cute little girl singing- but turns out that cute girl was lip syncing. The Chinese goverment thought the original girl who sang the song wasn't considered "attractive enough" to stand in front of millions and represent China.

How . . . honorable . . . .:flame:

It is great news that your father is sticking with things and getting some definite results. You are right - he is best off with a habit that he can stick with over the long term. He doesnt just need to fix the current problem (big as I do not doubt it is) - he needs to develop a lifestyle where it will not build back up again later. It needs to be permanent.

I feel for you on the cravings. I craved hamburger helper the first trimester. Gross!

How are you stripping the wallpaper?? Here's a little hint, use a damp towel and an iron on the wall. It makes the glues loosen up and become gummy and the wallpaper peels right off. You may already know that, I just find that it makes it a hell of a lot easier.

Hey Momma.. ;)

I'm a Tex-Mex Freak, have always loved it.

When I first got preggers, I worked in a Tex-Mex place.

As soon as I walked in the door and the smells hit me I began hugging the potty. :ack2:

I had to arrive 35 mins. early everyday so I'd have time to get sick, freshen back up, and then get ready for the place to open. :ack2:

It was a nightmare!

I had to quit after I was 2 months along bc the manager told me I still had to lift the 'heavy/full' salsa containers and condiment containers.

Plus, when I had large tables, he said I still had to lift the big/heavy trays over my head/to side of face.

What a jerk!

Anyway, I didn't eat Tex-Mex again until a few months after Cory was born.

lol..

Once of the strangest things I craved/ate while preggers was mayo on 2 slices of bread - PB - and bananas. Really grossed my hubby out.
I also would eat pickles with ice cream. HaHaHa!

I'm so happy things are going your way doll! :hug2:

Ah I sure missed Stacy's stories :D

Hell, I don't blame you for wanting to move in as quick as possible--good thing it seems to be coming along all right. CRAVINGS! I bet--eat that fruit, momma! Hope you find some Korean food.

I have not been watching the Olympics and I feel totally out of touch--no TV :( Oh well, let me know how they go! :D

HUGS!

Hey Kimberly,

Let the cravings begin, LOL!!! My friend's mom carried a jar of Peanut Butter around with her in her purse while she was pregnant. She was going thru about a jar a day, lol... She ended up gaining like 80 or 90lbs with that pregnancy, and she is only like 5'2'' or so... My other friend craved frost, from like ice and stuff in the freezer... Very weird. My mom told me she craved Dominos pizza and Arby's roast beef and cheddar sandwiches while she was pregnant with me... Everyone is way different I guess...

I've been watching the Olympics a lot lately myself.... Watched gymnastics the past two nights (mens and womens) and it was pretty good. It seems as though China definitely has the gold medal gymnasts this year, at least as a team. Swimming has been really good too, and I've watched some volleyball...

Have an excellent day!
-Sam

I don't think hamburger helper is gross--not very healthy, but I think it's tasty..lol.

I'm using Diff gel to strip the wallpaper. I roll it on with a paint roller, let it set a few minutes and then strip away. :biggrinjester:

Yarm--Most Korean food is pretty healthy and spicy, but not all of it. I love it and cannot wait to go to the Korean supermarket on Saturday when the lady who owns it makes fresh kimbop (rolls with sticky rice and veggies wrapped in seaweed). I really wish I was in Korea right now so I could get all kinds of yummy Korean food cheaply--delivered to my house for free even. :biggrinjester:

Yeah, I saw that about the little girls. I thought that was pretty awful. Nice way to ruin that little girl's self-esteem. I hope she's too young to be affected by it. But she'll be forever known as the girl who wasn't cute enough...:cuss:

Margaret--Just found out today that Dad has lost about 10lbs and Mom 18lbs so far. The bad news is that we found this out b/c mom is in the hospital again. She's been a bit more short of breath than usual, so I took her to her doc this afternoon. Her doc was concerned b/c her resting heart rate was 140! So I took her to the ER where the did two EKGs, a CAT scan and a few other tests. They have ruled out a blood clot and a few other things, but don't know why her heart rate is so high. So they checked her in overnight and are going to run more tests tomorrow b/c they don't want to send her home until they figure out why her heart rate's so high. The hospital has a new state of the art heart center, and the rooms are all private and really nice. So at least she's got a nice room..lol. My opinion is that the more she keeps losing weight, the better off she'll be regarding her heart.

Stacy--Sounds like your old boss was a real prick..lol. Did you eat the pickles and ice cream together? I'm also eating both, but not in the same sitting..lol. Yuck! :biggrinjester:

Val--Get a TV girl! YOu are missing out on some huge accomplishments. Phelps just won his 6th gold medal for this olympics, world records are getting shattered constantly. Now the women's gymnastics are on. I love watching the beach volleyball, too. But I think that if the women players wear skimpy bikinis, the male players should be in speedos for my viewing enjoyment. :D

Sam--LOL--don't you agree with me on the speedo thing? I mean, it's only fair that we get to admire the men's fab bodies.

A jar of pb a day??!! That's about 3,000 cals in pb alone! :svengo: No wonder she gained so much weight. Arby's roast beef and cheddar--yum! :drool5:

I am sorry to hear that your mother is in hospital. You are bound to be worried about her. I would agree with you. It is great news that both their weight is coming down - and that can only help her heart rate. It is great that she is being investigated - and that the place has top facilities.

The hospital sounds absolutely wonderful. Our NHS ones are a world different than that. I was in a different room each night - and the most private one had one other person in it. Each time Rod came in he found me somewhere else. They just kept moving my bed around. The last night was pure torture - I was in a room curtained off and shared with 5 people. The open window was in another section so I had no ability to close it. I was frozen. It is great to lie there frozen and listen to strangers snoring.

I enjoy watching the Olympics. It makes me wish I had worked harder at my extra curricular activities. LOL. I hope your mom gets well soon. It's great that she and your father have been losing weight!

Glad to hear that your mom and dad are losing weight. Sorry though that your mom seems to be having health issues currently.
Hopefully they will get it all figured out.
When I was preggers with the 1st one I just had to have Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. And lots of them. I never did gain alot of weight. Must of had a high metabolism! HA!
With Isa it was all I could do to get my hands on some Corndogs and Tomato Soup LOL :smilielol5::smilielol5:
To this day that she won't eat the soup but loves the corndogs.
And with Trevor I never really had a favorite. Just wanted it all.
Could explain my massive weight gain with him! :biggrinjester:
You are so much farther ahead than I was with my pregnancy's. I didn't know anything healthy so just ate to eat.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. That would scare the hell out of me. I honestly think that part of the reason I work out so much is because I don't want to suffer heart attacks--one of the main killers of women in the country. Or, IS IT THE main killer??????

Take care, momma :hug2:

Hey hon,

Sorry about your mom, sweetie. I know how stressful it can be when you're parents are ill. It's great to hear though, that they're losing weight-this is what you've been hoping for.

Isn't Phelps amazing? I was glued to the telly last night. The boy has won more gold medals than any other Olympian in history. I'm so proud of him! (Not to mention he's rather a cutie, no?) lol...He fascinates me. He's the perfect genetic make-up of a swimmer. The man is brilliant at what he does. I can see him taking the 2012 Olympics by storm as well.

If I was there with you, I'd totally help you get that condo whipped into shape, chica. Construction is, honestly, another hobby of mine. My father taught me the business at a young age. A year ago, I just finished helping him and my brother remodel our home. It looks pretty good too, if I can say so myself.

Happy Friday to you, sweetie!! As always, much love and even bigger hugs!!!

Margaret, Rae, Dawn, Val, Brandy thanks for stopping by and wishing my mom well. She's still in the hospital. They said yesterday she might be able to go home today, but now they are saying it's going to be another day or two. They've put her on cumadin, and are waiting for her levels to get higher before releasing her.

Margaret--That sucks about your hospital stay. I think you'd find the hospitals here to be much better. At most there will only be 2 people to a room. I remember years ago when Madonna was preggers with her son, she was getting a lot of bad press in Britain for saying she wasn't about to give birth in an English hospital..lol..and was going to LA for it. Now I can see why she'd feel that way. I can't speak for other hospitals, but Grand Rapids is gaining a nation wide reputation for being one of the best places in the country for medical care. The three main hospitals keep expanding and adding cancer centers, heart centers, children's centers, etc. Michigan State University is in the process of opening up a Grand Rapids campus for its med school, and Grand Valley State University has a very good nursing program. With all the hospital and research expansion, they are expecting to create over 5,000 jobs in the medical field over the next few years. I think it's helping to pull our local economy along.

Brandy and Rae--Did you see Phelpsie win his 8th medal last night? Incredible. I was hoping Dara Torres would take golds instead of silvers, but those damn Aussies..lol. Ah, good on the Aussies. They've got some amazing swimmers themselves--always do. Personally, I think the Aussie male swimmers are a lot hotter than the American men. :drool5:

Val--I think it is the main killer. But then you hear of really fit young athletes dropping dead of heart problems now and again. I guess the trick is not to overdo it--coupled with a bit of luck. I dunno.

Dawn--Got my Korean fix yesterday..lol. I am making my favorite Korean dish as I type. It's yook gae jang--spicy beef veggie soup. I got all the ingrediants at the Korean supermarket yesterday. Can't wait to dig into it. :drool5: I was a bit naughty yesterday. I had a moosetracks malt. :blush5: Moosetracks (for those of you who don't know) is a flavor of vanilla ice cream with chocolate pieces and mini peanut butter cups. I love it, and the malt was fantastic.

Rae--I wish you lived closer, too. I'd definitely put you to work..lol. Finally got the wallpaper stripped. The bathroom was much easier than the bedroom, due mainly to the bathroom steam, I'm sure. I barely even needed wallpaper stripper. But now there is a lot of spackling and sanding to be done before we can paint. We were going to spend all day there today, but obviously that isn't happening. We are both feeling incredibly lazy today, and are wishing that our neighbors would just go over en masse and finish the job..hahaha. Kinda like an extreme home makeover. :smilielol5:

I'm glad your mom is doing a bit better. And I agree about the Aussie men. Haha. How have you and the baby doing?

Baby and I are fine. I have been having times during the day when I feel a bit sick to my stomach, but never bad enough that I :puke: I'm feeling that way right now, as a matter of fact.

H has been trying to get me to go for a walk, saying I'll feel better. I know he's right, but I feel so damn lazy and tired today..lol. I am really going to try and get out there--after a brief nap. :)

Val--I think it is the main killer. But then you hear of really fit young athletes dropping dead of heart problems now and again. I guess the trick is not to overdo it--coupled with a bit of luck. I dunno.

They're not drinking enough alcohol :D No joke! It's good for the heart!

Take car, hope you got your walk in and hope you're not TOO fatigued lately....

I didn't get my walk in, but I did take the stairs at the hospital today..lol. Then I stopped at Burger King on the way home. :blush5: Still, my calories for today are not excessive. I just had a jr whopper and small fry. My weight was at 220 today, so holding steady.

Mom is still in the hospital. She has an irregular heart rhythm and they have put her on some meds to fix it. Doesn't look like she'll be coming home tomorrow either.

Sorry about mom being in the hospital, but it is wonderful that mom and dad are both losing weight!! Lovely baby brought two of your dreams come true!
