BikiniBound's Diary

Sorry to hear that you suffered from a bad bout of nausa :puke:
Hopefully that will be the only bad case of it you get. Especially now that you are on the verge of your 2nd trimester. Your about to hit the honeymoon stage of pregnancy. LOL :biggrinjester:
No more sickness and the babe is not sooo big yet that you are uncomfortable.
Glad to hear that your mom got to come home from the hospital. It is great that you were able to share with your mom about Margret's experiance. So many times we forget that we are not the only ones to have ever gone thru something.
And I agree with you on making the choice to be heavy.
I know that I certainly did that the last time I lost a bunch of weight. At some point I just decided that it was too much work to lose all the weight and I caved.
Hope your having a great weekend.

She is suffering the effects of the saline drip like you did. Only she had over a week's worth of it. She has gained back all the weight she lost. She was really upset about this earlier, but I hugged her and assured her that it wasn't fat she'd gained, but water retention due to the IV. I explained about drinking water to get rid of the excess fluid, and told her it would take several days, but that her weight and bloating would go down if she drank a lot of water. I told her about how you had gained all that weight while in the hospital and how it took you almost a week to get rid of it, but get rid of it you certainly did--and then some. :)

Sorry to hear that your mother has retained so much water. I know that I hated the idea that I had gained so much in three days of not eating anything. It is so good that you were able to tell her about how the same thing happened to me. Many a person will have over-eaten in despair after seeing the scales go up.

Check any medication that your mother has been given for sodium content too. In an act of pure sabotage (or at least it seemed that way to me) the hospital discharged me with some tablets that contained sodium. When I realised that I got them changed.

Pass on my best regards - and assurance that those new pounds will go if she just watches her sodium intake and drinks plenty water.

Oh my god! I guess I have been missing way too long. CONGRATULATIONS! I know I am wayyyyyy late but wow, that is so exciting! I see you are pretty much in your second trimester! That must be soooo exciting! When is the due date (sorry I missed it in previous posts? I am sorry you have been feeling sick lately but that should subside shortly since you are not too early into your pregnancy. CONGRATS AGAIN!

~*Best Wishes for a Great Week!*~ :hug2:

I hope you'll feel well, have energy, and I hope your mom will feel better and get these kinks ironed out. ;)

Talk to ya soon doll!

So glad your mother is now home!! I hope the nausea is gone for good, try pregger pops, they are ginger suckers that work wonders for the morning sickness and don't taste bad either.

It looks like I will be meeting MLB in Eureka Springs in three weeks!! I wish you and Claud could come too...

I don't agree that none of us choose to be big. I chose to be overweight for years. I knew I was big and getting bigger. I made half-assed attempts to lose weight but never succeeded b/c I was not committed to it. I chose to eat what I liked and not to exercise over losing weight. It was a choice.

My mother has chosen for years to live a sedentary lifestyle and to eat huge amounts of food. She preferred to eat what she liked over her health. It was a choice. Now, thankfully, it looks like she's choosing to put her health before food.

Amen to this post!

And glad to hear mum is home. :)

Kimmy, babes, I haven't been around here for a while, but thank goodness I've finally found the time.

Again, CONGRATS on the little bun in the oven. This is so very, very exciting!!! How's the H dealing with your hormones? Is he running out on errands to buy you particular foods for cravings? I have so many odd cravings, that I'm afraid once I get preggers, I'm going to be eating PB and chocolate twice as much. LOL.

It's so wonderful that you can be there for your mums. If mine was in the hospital with the same disappointment, I would have said the same thing and assured her in the same way.

Personally, I completely agree with you, that weight gain can be a choice. Even if genetics play a role in excess adipose tissue, you can still weigh a bit less by choosing to do something about your obesity. Genetics play a role in my weight gain, but look at me, I've chosen to do something about it and I weigh quite a bit less, just as you have done.

People don't realize this, I don't think. Genetics is an excuse for laziness, Imo. When you don't want to do something, you convince yourself of excuses that are beyond your control. This is what some overweight people do. Thankfully, in time, some get smart of it, others, no, but what can we do besides try and motivate them, am I right?

Anyway hon, I hope you're having a good start to the week (besides the emesis gravidarum, of course). Big hugs to you and the little one!!

Hey Kimberly,

Sorry to hear about your bought with the nausea. That sucks... I do agree with your post about laziness and being overweight. I do feel it's a choice, and that is why I get so frustrated with my little bro (he's obese)... I can't make him lose weight though, he has to want to make that change for himself. I just feel like he deserves so much better in his life (he's only 23) and he's to lazy and unmotivated to ever make a positive change... I wish he could see from my example (not that I am perfect) and it would maybe motivate him to want to take charge of his life... I think he honestly looks at me as the older bro he doesn't want to listen to though... It's affected our relationship. I honestly don't really like to hang out with him that much however, I do live with him... It would make me so proud (and probably himself) if he just took responsiblity for anything in his life but he doesn't, and it makes me lose respect for him a lot... I think he just expects the weight to lose itself or something... Meanwhile he is on his way to Type II diabetes or something equally horrifying, which is sad....

Hello my lovely friends! :) Sorry I've been gone for awhile. I've been busy painting and painting and painting some more. Kitchen cabinets are a real bitch and the buggers aren't quite done yet. :cuss: It would help if I had more energy. I should be over there now, but I'm on here instead.

Dawn--I really can't complain about my first trimester so far. I haven't had any bad nausea since that one day I mentioned earlier. I usually get a few hrs most days when I feel like my stomach's slightly upset, but not badly enough to make me feel like crap. :) I've heard of women far more miserable than I--that's for sure. :D

Margaret--She is still carrying around that extra weight, although it has gone down a bit. I can't get her to drink enough water. :cuss: I keep bugging her about it, but she can be rather stubborn at times. So I don't know what to do. It is her choice, I guess.

Her new meds are all heart and insulin related, so I think the sodium issue is okay with those. Either way, I don't think there's any changing them if they are high in it.

Prithi--Thanks! Still got a few weeks to go before getting to the 2nd trimester, but I'm getting there. I'm due March 21st. Glad to see you around again. :)

Stacy--Thanks honey. Still lacking energy, but that might be from lack of exercise. Does painting count?? :p

Amy--Whah! I wanna meet up with y'all too. :toetap05: I have not seen pregger pops anywhere. What grocery aisle are they usually in??

Steve--LOL. Well, it's true. All but a small percentage of us overweight people choose to eat poorly and sit on our asses instead of eating well and exercising--despite being fully aware of the all the problems our weight is or probably will affect our health.

Rae--

I definitely was guilty of convincing myself that it was beyond my control. My biggest delusion was thinking that I could never lose weight while living with my parents b/c of the constant temptation, etc. Well, obviously that wasn't true. It was my lack of committment that was the problem. And it's been my lack of committment over the last 6 months that has kept me from losing more. I'm kinda mad at myself for not being more disciplined between Christmas and when I became pregnant. I would be at a much healthier bmi right now if I had. Oh well. Too late to change it now. Instead I'll have to just make sure I don't gain too much weight during the pregnancy and work hard to lose weight after having the baby. I'm hoping nursing will help, although I've heard some women say they found it harder to lose weight while doing so.

Sam--I feel ya on your brother. I have a lot of obese relatives who have the same mindset as your little bro. It is hard to watch people you love abuse their bodies so much. I wonder if my husband felt that way about me before I lost the weight.

I guess the good news about all this being a choice is that we all CAN do it if we REALLY want to. It IS possible. Margaret and Rae and lots of others are proof enough of that. :grouphug:

I just created a college football pick 'em at Yahoo if anyone wants to join. A few of us did it last year and it was fun. Here's the link:
The Group #25162 and the password is kickoff. Make sure you make your picks each week within 5min of the first game's kickoff.

Wow, it's been really quiet around the forum the last few days. Where is everyone??

I finally got off my lazy ass last night and walked a few miles. Had a productive day today, but did no exercise unless walking around the grocery store counts..lol. I also ate a fair bit. :ack2:

Been watching the Demorcratic Convention and enjoying some great speeches. Sigh...I long for the Clinton days. Those were great times. :)

Hey Momma! ;)

You are in NO way lazy gurl! :p

Your body is going through a lot and the baby is taking a lot.

*Hang in there* :grouphug:

Everyone is different of course, but I saw my energy levels come back once I hit 5-6 months. (Nesting)

The nesting will get even worse during 8-9 month..lol

I cleaned the nursery every night and lysoled everything down..heehee...

I was always organizing closets and stuff to bc I just wanted things to be perfect when he came.

I also had a strong desire that came over me to walk a lot..

Yer energy will come back soon. :D

You better get to my journal and catch up or you'll fall behind!
LMAO! :biggrinjester:

I really enjoy watching football, but am no good at the fantasy football thing.

Hope the house is coming along!

Hey there hot stuff!!! Walking is good girl, I'm happy to see your doing it. I spent a LOT of time walking when I was pregnant with the twins, I think I walked just about every night, at least a mile or two. I hiked the night I went into labor. LOL LOL maybe that's why it was an easy labor for me, and yes I had them both natural, so I got full effect. LOL LOL

I've just been WAY TO BUSY lately to get on all the time, I feel so badly about that, but if I don't keep up with yard work, housework and my job, I'll get lost and so behind I'll never be able to do it. With the boys gone now 90% of the time working and other stuff, there is nobody else around here to keep up with it all, so me and the H are stuck with the full load. We could hire someone to come help, but we live so far out of town, nobody is willing to do it. LOL LOL go figure!!

Well, I can't wait to see pics of your new place, have you posted any yet and I just don't know about them?? If so, what page are they on? Are you starting to show in the belly yet?? I worked with a girl who you couldn't even tell she was preggers until she was 7 months along, and even then she looked 4 months, it was disgusting. LOL LOL

Well, as you might guess I have a lot to do today, so I best make my rounds and see what everyone is up to before I log off. I hope your weekend is a FABTABULOUS ONE!! I miss ya lots!! I need to call AMY in about 20 minutes and see what's up and if she is going to be able to come up and see us next week.

TAKE CARE~
Big Hugs to ya

Oh, I've been terribly lazy..lol I know I'd feel a lot better if I'd just exercise more. But this damn condo is taking up too much time..lol

I can assure you I will not be lysoling down the nursery every night..lol. A few germs never hurt anyone, just built up their immune system. :D

It's not fantasy football. You just pick which team you think is going to win for about 20 games each week. So far only Paul and I are signed up so you'd have a one in three chance of being the winner at the end of the seaason..lol

I know I definitely need to walk more. I feel really guilty about it. But apparently not guilty enough to actually get out there and do it regularly. :blush5:

I'm not really showing. I'm only 11 weeks, though. My pants all still fit, and I haven't gained any weight yet, so I'm happy about that.

I'm sure you're busy as a bee, but it sounds like you're happy. :)

I posted a pic of the outside of the condo a few weeks ago, but I've no idea what page it's on..lol. Once we get the first floor finished, I'll post b/a pics for all to see. We started painting the walls yesterday, and I'm getting close to having the kitchen cabinets all painted. It's still going to be a few weeks before we can move in.

I can't wait to hear how meeting up with Amy went. I'm sure you two will have a blast together, and I wish I could join you.

Well, my Wolverines lost yesterday. :cuss: They came really close to pulling it off, but they have a very young, inexperienced team this year. I am not expecting a great season. In fact, I think I'll be happy if they just have a winning season..lol.

Not much going on lately--just working on the condo and the usual day to day stuff. My weight is holding steady, so I'm happy.

Hey there Kimberly,

Sounds like you've been pretty busy between the condo and having the Football season finally start :) I can't wait to see the b/a pics of your condo. I'm totally addicted to those shows on HGTV, lol... I didn't watch the democratic national convention but, I heard from my friend that it has been pretty good. She said she loved what Bill Clinton had to say, and Michelle Obama... My friend is so in love with Michelle Obama I think she would celebrate TLD with her :sifone: lol

Have a great day,
Sam
