BikiniBound's Diary

Best to your mum! I'm glad to hear she's losing weight too... I think if she's able to take a good bit off it will do wonders for how she feels and her health.

I hope that your mother's condition improves soon so that she can come home. Not just for her health - but to reduce the stress on you too. You were juggling a lot already between the pregnancy and the new condo.

It is great that you are managing to hold firm with your weight with that kind of stress going on.

It is great that your community is so well served with medical facilities. I would not blame anyone for going for the best facilities that they could afford - whereever it may be. Hopefully the medical facility expansion in Grand Rapids will improve matters with the housing market for you. Anything that brings that kind of extra professional level jobs must surely bring a need for housing for the people coming into the area.

I am pleased that you managed to get your Korean food fix. If that is what you fancy - and you have a repertoire of healthy dishes - I would go for Korean food most nights if I were you. Life is tough enough without depriving yourself for no good reason.

Hey you I guess you are busy with work, the condo and mom being in the hospital. That sucks...Any new news? It is awesome to hear they are wanting to get healthier and are succeeding!

So sorry to hear about your mom doll. :hug2:
**Speedy Get Well Wishes going out for her!** :grouphug:

How are you doing with all these new things going on?
*Hang in there.*

lol re: the pickles and ice cream...Yep, I put them on the ice cream. :svengo:

I hope you have a great day with good news on all accounts!

<3 Stacy :)

Hey everyone, thanks for stopping by. I'm fine, just busy. Been working on the condo, watching the Olympics, and visiting Mom in the hospital. They might send her home today, but are still awaiting the results of a blood test. If those come back well, she'll be coming home. Just got off the phone with Mom. She'll be staying at least another night. :( She is not happy about this at all. Hopefully her cumadin levels will be high enough tomorrow.

Amber--yes, the baby is bringing lots of good things. :)

Steve--She still has little appetite, and when she comes home, she'll be having a visiting physical therapist coming out. So that will get her up and moving more. I think she'll lose weight easily with that set up. Pretty hard not to when she'll be eating a lot less and getting some exercise.

Amy & Val--Thanks, Lovelies. :hug2:

Margaret--Still getting my Korean food fix..lol. I've had some everyday since Saturday..lol. The good thing about it is that it's relatively healthy stuff. The scale is maintaining. I was 221 today, but haven't had some bathroom action in a couple days, so I know it'll be back to 220 once that occurs. :D

Cerella--Still busy trying to work, get the condo done, and deal with Mom in the H. Thanks for stopping by. :)

Stacy--Yuck! I couldn't handle the thought of pickles and ice cream together. :biggrinjester: Thanks for the well wishes. :)

Glad things are OK!

I had to visit my buddy Chris in hospital as well--he should be out tomorrow. His blood sugar caused the Ph in his blood to go from 7.4 (normal) to 7.1!!!! He was NOT a happy camper :( But he's getting better! Um, as better as he CAN get.....

Take care Momma! :D

Yer Welcome. ;)

It was pretty yuck for my poor hubby to watch.. lol

I can't stand the thought of it now of course. lol :biggrinjester:

****

Well pooh..Another night there... I'm sure she is more than ready to get home!

So sorry Kimberly. :grouphug:

It might sound funny but the possible good aspect of your mother's hospital stay is that it might help to focus her on the potential benefits to making the lifestyle changes that she needs to make (and you have been praying for her to make) - not to mention helping her focus on the risks of not making those changes.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Well done on keeping gains slight and explainable. I know only too well how bathroom activity (or lack of it) can alter our weight.

Sorry to hear that your mom has to keep staying at the hospital.
We have been dealing with similiar things here. I had to take MIL to the ER on Tuesday because she just about passed out at the Y. Ended up staying overnight one night. They are still trying to piece together what happened.
Take care of yourself.
Have a great weekend.

Brandy, Margaret, Stacy, Val and Dawn--Thanks for stopping by. I think I have the answers to your questions and comments below..lol

I brought Mom home from the hospital today. She is soooo happy to be home..lol. Had to get some prescriptions filled for her tonight--about 8 of them. The total (for a month's supply) came to $112!! That was with her insurance. It would've been almost $600 without insurance. These are new meds, but they've taken her off one that was costing $167 per month, so she's saving about $55 per month, and possibly more b/c she might be able to go on a less expensive form of insulin. They've started her on these pens which are much more expensive than just getting it in a small bottle and injecting with a syringe.

Had terrible nausea last night. Didn't :puke:, but I sure thought I might. That was the worst nausea I've had so far. I hope it doesn't become a habit, as it was pretty miserable. :ack2: So far tonight I feel so-so, but the worst of it didn't come on until about 10pm, so there's still time. I seem to feel fine in the mornings.

Dawn--Sorry about your MIL. I hope she's doing better.

Val--Glad Chris is back home and doing as well as can be expected.

Stacy--I can imagine watching you down pickles and ice cream together might have given your hubby a taste of what morning sickness nausea was like for you. :D

Wow. I'm glad your mom is home! WOWEEE! Scripts are EXPENSIVE! 10 weeks already?? thats 1/4 the way through! WWWWOOOOWWWW. How time flies. You better post lots and lots of pictures when the baby is born! Hope you feel better tonight then you did last night.

Yah, I about fell over when the pharmacist told me how much it was. Thankfully there was enough $$ in my checking account to cover it..lol. So there's some motivation to lose weight--you don't want type 2 diabetes if you can avoid it. It's bloody expensive and the complications that often arise from it are not pleasant.

Yup, only a few weeks left of my 1st trimester. So far tonight I'm feeling ok--not stellar, but way better than last night. :)

It is great that your mother has been able to come home.

It certainly was expensive to pick up her medication.

No-one would get really big if people realised how severe the effects on your health could be. It is not like any of us chose to be big. It seems that you can go from being "slightly on the chubby side" to "fat enough to stop traffic" without noticing that much was changing. Things just seem to get out of hand and it seems impossible to find a way out of it. It is great that we are all finding a way out of it and stopping it from controlling our lives in the same way. If only our nearest and dearest could manage to do the same things.

Sorry that you have been feeling so sick.

I don't agree that none of us choose to be big. I chose to be overweight for years. I knew I was big and getting bigger. I made half-assed attempts to lose weight but never succeeded b/c I was not committed to it. I chose to eat what I liked and not to exercise over losing weight. It was a choice.

My mother has chosen for years to live a sedentary lifestyle and to eat huge amounts of food. She preferred to eat what she liked over her health. It was a choice. Now, thankfully, it looks like she's choosing to put her health before food.

She is suffering the effects of the saline drip like you did. Only she had over a week's worth of it. She has gained back all the weight she lost. She was really upset about this earlier, but I hugged her and assured her that it wasn't fat she'd gained, but water retention due to the IV. I explained about drinking water to get rid of the excess fluid, and told her it would take several days, but that her weight and bloating would go down if she drank a lot of water. I told her about how you had gained all that weight while in the hospital and how it took you almost a week to get rid of it, but get rid of it you certainly did--and then some. :)
