BikiniBound's Diary

Today the scale said 216.5lbs!!!!

That's a new low by a pound. And I'm so excited b/c it's my first new low since April 4th.

CONGRATS

I have only been London 1ce when i was 14 with the school it was mad busy with things to see in the 5 days we were there it was none stop You will need a break to get over the business lol

Sarah

Amy, Margaret, Claudia, Paul, Cerella, and Sarah--Thanks for the congrats! :grouphug:

Sarah--I think I've spent more time in London than you have, then..lol. I lived in Golders Green for 2 months, and have visited on several other occasions. I love your country. :)

Before I got my attention grabbed by your new low (such things tend to put other issues out of my mind) I was going to say that it is a shame that it is so pricy to change your tickets to longer. The good thing is that your hubby has really bought into the idea that he will enjoy the concept of European holidays so that has to be good. Maybe the experience will send home the message to him that in some things you need to be decisive up front.

Fingers crossed that you get a buyer for your new listing so that the secondary trip can all happen.

We have not completely ruled out extending our stay. I cannot figure out why that reservation agent said that ticket level was no longer available. According to their website, that exact itinerary is actually $2 cheaper than when I booked. ??? Might have to call back and bitch to a manager or something. H is really interested in spending a lot of time in SW England--mainly Cornwall. We want to hire a car and spend awhile driving around the area.

Hey Kimberly,

Congrats on 216.5!!!!! That is terrific :) Your trip to England sounds so fun. I've never been and hope to go one day (I'm not a great traveler tho...).

Hope your having a nice weekend,
Sam

H and I took a 5 week road trip around the Eastern half of the U.S. back in 2000. It was a lot of fun, but rather rushed. We did see a ton of places/sights however. But being around each other 24/7 got to be a bit much after awhile..lol. Had a HUGE arguement in Boston that resulted in driving across Massachesetts and upstate New York in silence for about 9hrs. It wasn't until we had to get off the freeway outside of Buffalo b/c of a blizzard that we FINALLY spoke--after a rather dramatic exchange of words....LMAO.

Despite all that, I highly recommend a U.S. roadtrip. It really was interesting to see how the different parts of the country are so much alike, and yet so different. We hit about 20 states--nearly every one East of the Mississippi. :)

Actually, this is a great time for you to visit with the dollar so weak. You'd find prices extraordinarily cheap--even petrol. :D I think the you of you could easily spend less than 75 quid a day here--including hotel/meals/petrol/attractions. So I think you could do 3 weeks for about L1,000 per person(my comp doesn't have a pound sign key :cuss: ).

Brandy, Sam and MJB--Thanks for the congrats. I was naughty on Fri and Sat, and now my weight is back up to 220 yesterday, and 219.5 today. :ack2: Mostly water retention, I'm sure, but it's still annoying how fast I put it on--3.5lbs in one freaking day??!! :cuss:

Yesterday I got ambitious late at night and got on my bike for 30min (guilt over my eating..hahaha), and today H and I drove to Grand Haven for the afternoon/evening. It's a 40min drive, and a quaint city on Lake Michigan. Walked along the boardwalk out to the lighthouse and around town. It was a 6 mile walk all total. Had a nice dinner at a famous restaurant there called Kirby's. I had a wrap with grilled chicken, sundried tomatoes, spinach, feta and pesto sauce. It was delicious. H had a prime rib wrap that he said was really good--even though he can't taste much atm b/c of a cold..lol. Funny thing about that county is that on Sundays you can't sell beer or wine (in restaurants or stores). But, you can sell hard liquor!! WTF?? So I couldn't get the strawberry sangria they had on the drink menu, but ended up getting a sex on the beach instead, and H had a double shot of whiskey on the rocks. The residents of that county are petitioning to have that law changed. Bizarre is all H and I could say..lol.

The lake was gorgeous as usual, and the weather nice--partly sunny and about 75F/23C. Pretty chilly out on the pier with the wind.
Here is a link to the Grand Haven tourism site. The center pic is the lighthouse pier where we walked.

I have lost the toenail on my right little toe..lol. It is due to the blisters from the big walk last weekend. I actually thought it was going to fall off last Saturday, but it lasted until today. :D

I'm not a really good flyer. I've actually flown on a plane only once and I don't know if I could do it again, lol... Plane crashes are probably my #1 fear I'd say. I can barely watch anything to do with 9-11 or anything... It just affects me pretty badly... It sucks because I know I'm missing out on the whole world and I don't want that... Wadaya do...

The food you guys ate at that restaurant sounds so good. I'm a sucker for cheese, especially feta cheese. When I see it on any menu I feel obligated to order it because I know there is a 99.9% chance it will satisfy my taste buds. With sundried tomatoes and pesto too, I'd be in heaven:)

Alcohol/liquor laws are so ridiculous... In Utah the liquor stores are just closed on Sundays and holidays. But, they still do sell beer at the grocery store on those days... In UT they don't have hard liquor or wine for sale in the grocery store either. It always seems so weird when I've been to like California and it's sold right there in the grocery store. I think, "how convienient, I don't have to make two stops." I doubt that would ever happen in UT. Also, I don't think they let you drink liquor on days when voting is taking place? I remember going to a restaurant and them not being able to serve us alcohol (I can't remember if it was no beer too) because it was voting day... Like they think people are just going to get drunk and go vote or something? LOL

Sorry to hear about your baby toenail :( That stinks... It's a battle scar ;) At least it wasn't your big toenail though, that would be even worse I bet.

It definitely sounds like that it will be worth you escalating matters at the travel agency. As I see it - you have nothing to lose.

I hear that Cornwall is very nice - but I have never been there. I have only spent time in the north of England and the south east.

I know just what you mean about the 3.5 pounds. That happens to me all the time - and it is normally water weight. No wonder we all want scales that measure our body fat. We are sick of thinking that the water weight might be fat.

It sounds like you had a fun day out. That pier looks nice. The food sounds really good too - and it is wierd the way that you couldnt get the drinks that you really wanted.

Sorry that your toes are still showing their scars. Missing full and half toenails are the sign of a serious walker. It seems ages since I had a full set. I am sure that they will sort themselves out in time. The fact that you have been running during the week and have just done a six mile walk shows that your feet are well on their way to recovery.
