BikiniBound's Diary

Yay for extra exercise, but boo for feeling hungry! Did you work into your exercise gradually or did you just jump it up right away?

Also, I'm sure you've heard the trick of drinking some water before you eat something if you feel hungry, but if not, hey give it a go.

When I first decided to lose weight, I was only exercising about 1.5-2hrs per week. I joined a Curves-type gym and did 30min of circuit training 3-4 days per week. The weight came off pretty easily at that point. Circuit training is really good when you're first starting out b/c it gives you cardio and strength training at the same time. It's very efficient. It's also good if you are new to exercising b/c it's great for all fitness levels--you can work it as hard or as easy as you can. When spring came, I started adding walks to my workouts, doing about 3-4hrs per week of exercise through the summer and fall. Then I started doing about 5hrs per week, and did a lot on my stationary bike over last winter. This week I've really upped it--about doubling my usual b/c a challenge I'm in requires it. That's why I'm wondering if the added exercise is what's making me so hungry.

Trust me--I've been guzzling water today, but I've never found that to decrease my appetite. :D

Hey girl,
Thanks for the encouragement! :) Wow, your friend doing that recertification must be absolutely insane, LOL ;) You're so right about the exercise being hard before it gets easier. I suppose I just never stick around for the "easier" bit, LOL. Hopefully, it's different this time! Have a great week!

LOL. If you saw my co-worker, you'd understand that she is not insane--just in very good shape. She's ripped. She runs nearly daily, and teaches those classes at the gym several days a week. I am pretty sure she also does weights.

I hope you will keep at the exercise. Let me tell ya, I used to HATE exercising. Oh, I could walk--I've always been a walker, but I hated nearly all other forms of it...lol. And I certainly never liked to push myself. My H has always been athletic, and would go on and on about how much he loved to exercise, how good it made him feel, etc. Before I started working out regularly myself, I'd sit on my lazy ass and roll my eyes at him, thinking, "What-ev-a!" lol Now I totally get what he means. So there is hope for anyone who hates exercise. I used to. Now I enjoy it. I love the feeling I get from a good workout. :D

Twin--Yeah, I think it probably is a combination of :reddevil: and extra exercise. Luckily, the extra exercise means I'm not gaining atm, which I probably would be otherwise. I just need to really behave myself Wednesday.

Thanks for the pep talk..lol. :hug2:

I got in some good exercise today. I went for a 49min, 3 mile walk, and then got on my exercise bike for 15 min, 5.3 miles. That puts my exercise since Friday at 6hrs 40 min. Calories were 2,447, though! However, according to my calculations, I had about a 1,100 calorie deficit yesterday, and about a 500 cal deficit today. So I suppose it isn't as bad as it seems. Hey, at least my metabolism should be revved up from all the calories....hahahah Trying to find the bright side here...:D

You are doing a great job on the exercise. TOM is bound to be having an effect on your weight. I found that the extra exercise did demand me to eat more - but that it was easier satisfied if I geared towards really healthy things. I suspect that cookies will always be a temptation to many of us - irrespective of the amount of exercise that we do or the time of the month.

Fingers crossed that the extra real estate business comes your way. That will help your holiday fund!

Sorry to hear that the house offer you made was not progressing nicely. Maybe the people will reconsider as they get more desperate for a buyer.

I pass some lovely houses on my normal walking route down towards the Thames. It is quite funny as quite a lot of people who introduce themselves to me and ask me about my walking live in houses that I know are worth three or four times what my house is worth. I just tend to not mention where I live to them and they seem to presume that I live in the vicinity.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Margaret--You'll be pleased to hear that my calories have been MUCH better today. Under 1100 so far, and dinner still to eat. I should easily be under 1600 today. :hurray: Weight was down another half pound to 221 today. Last week's weigh in was 220.5, so my goal is to get a couple of pounds below that by Friday. If I keep my calories under 1600 for the next 2 days, and continue the exercise, I think it's possible--especially as the weight due to :reddevil: should start going away now.

Yes, if the added real estate pans out, we will DEFINITELY be coming to England this summer. Also, my other listing has been getting some activity recently. I got 2 calls within 5min of each other today for Saturday showings. One of them is looking at it with me. Oh, that would be wonderful if those people bought it, as I'd get double commission. :D See my greedy hands rubbing together at the thought! :D If I sell that listing, we'll extend our Europe trip to "the Continent" as well.

That is funny that those people just assume you live in their neighborhood. See, they obviously realize you are a top notch lady, so they assume you live in a top notch house. :D I see no reason to set them straight..lol.

I will be heading out for a 4 mile walk soon, so that will bring my total challege exercise to over 7hrs, with tomorrow yet to go.

Hello :)

Looks like your getting in lots of cardio, great job. I gotta work on my water intake, it isn't what it probably should be, and I think it would probably help with the hunger...

Hope you have an excellent day!

:rotflmao:
I really believe that I am you "before" LOL. I think you people that are all up in the exercise loving should be in a little cell with padded walls. :leaving: How long did it take you to really get into it? Can you remember a time when it went from being just awful to you saying "hm, maybe this isn't that bad" because I am SO. NOT. THERE.

That's all. Oh, and good work ;)

Wazup Kimberley :). The exercise could very well be making you hungrier, especially with the enviable amount you've been doing lately! She's torturing herself (in a good way) with her own challenge ha ha :D. What's good with the o sticks, did ya find any cheap ones to order?

Hi Sam! Thanks for stopping by! Yeah, I've been getting in lots of cardio, but I need to do more weights. I've meant to get to the gym everyday this week, but it hasn't happened yet. Tomorrow I WILL get there..lol

Carrie--Honestly, once I decided I wasn't going to screw around anymore and was going to exercise regularly, I joined the circuit training gym and I immediately liked it. Have you looked into your local Curves? I think someone in your position would really benefit from it. One of the things I liked most about it was that it's women only, and it wasn't full of thin, fit women to intimidate me. Most of the women there were in a similar condition as I was. They have specials going on all the time, so it isn't so expensive. Mine is only $34 a month, and there was no sign up fee if I joined for a year. I think once your body gets used to the exercise, you'll start to lose the hatred of it. :) Here's the link for the Curves website for more info:
Also, there may be some other women only gyms in your area that offer better deals. Mine is not a chain. The Curves website let's you see the circuit and how it works. The great thing is that it's such an efficient workout. You get a great cardio and strength training workout in 30 minutes. It burns about double the calories that a 30min walk would. I wish you lived near me--I'd take you to my gym. I bet you'd like it.

Claudia--Actually, it's rather ironic with the challenge exercise b/c last week Margaret told me I was being too easy on them and should increase the exercise. So I did, and the next day M went into the hospital...lmao. So that meant a lot more for me to do. How ironic is that?

I found some sticks online, but not that cheap. The best price I found was $17 for 15 ovulation sticks and 5 pregnancy tests. Do you think that's a good price? The cheapest I found at the store was $8 for 2 preg tests and $14 for 7 ovul sticks. So it's definitely a better deal than buying them from the store.

Got in a 3 mile, 48min walk tonight. I was gonna do 4, but ran out of time before it got dark. My calories ended up being 1,632, so I'm happy with that. Much better than 2,200. Tomorrow I plan to do at least 30 min at the gym, and then either a walk or the bike. I might also go for a walk in the late afternoon with my girlfriend in addition. So if that happens, I'll get in quite a bit of exercise tomorrow. It's like the Biggest Loser last chance workout..lol. My team's really struggling with the weight this week, despite logging some serious exercise hours, so I need to do everything I can tomorrow to get a good number on the scale Friday morning. :smash: Scalentino better be a good boy and go down on me--period or not! :smilielol5:

I hope the little bugger Scalentino is nice this week! Scalentina is being a royal bitch to me this morning .

The o sticks you found come out to around 90 cents per stick, so I think that sounds pretty good (should cost less than $5 per cycle). You would have ovulated 14 days before you got :reddevil:, so I would start using the sticks next cycle three days before the estimated actual date. A while ago I read that the best time to catch it (for max baby results) is before rather than the day of, so definitely start trying at least two days before your estimated date. And when you see the stick give the thumbs up, it gives you the added assurance that its occurred and that you did the deed before and on that day. And then of course you get a breather and wont be under the horrible pressure to continue the activities endlessly LOL.

Scalentino was so-so. 220 today. Down another pound from yesterday, but still up 2.5 from my lowest. :nopity: One would've though that with all the exercise this week, and :reddevil: finally arriving, and my calories being good yesterday that it would've fallen a bit lower, but I'll take 220 for now, as at least it's a half pound less than my challenge weight last week. I can't believe that bitch Scalena is still giving you shit. Maybe you need to slap her around a bit. :smash: Or maybe she's like you and doesn't like going down on women. :smilielol5: Better switch to Scalentino. ;)

I will order those ov sticks.

I feel guilty for saying that we should be doing more exercise - just before getting rushed off to hospital. It seemed like such a good idea at the time. At least I should be able to get my third of next week's exercise done ok (unless that is "famous last words" - part 2). You will never want to follow one of my suggestions again.

I'm pleased that things are going so well with your listings. If you extend your trip into Europe - obviously you want to go to Rhodes in early June.

LOL. Nah, I don't mind, but I did think it was rather ironic. I've done more than I needed to this week. Got in a 68min walk tonight at a pretty brisk pace. I would guess we did 4.5 miles. So that combined with the 40min at the gym puts my total for the week at 9hrs 16min.

Hmm...I've never been to Greece, but early June is out as H doesn't finish work until June 6th, and then he wants to go to California before we go to Europe. Also, I was thinking more like Paris, Brussels and Geneva when I said the continent. :D

I went over my calorie goal for the day--1,842 cals total. I was just really hungry after all that exercising. :drool5:

Wow, you go girl! 9 hours is awesome. I've already got 4.5 hours in, so I still need 1.5 hours between Friday and Saturday. This is for my very own personal challenge. 6 hours per week or bust! I figure my body will have to look at least a little better after working out 48 strenuous sweaty hours over the next 8 weeks.

I'm sure it will look a lot better after all that exercise! Good for you.

I'm pissed at H right now. I told him how much exercise I'd done and then asked if he was impressed. His reply was that he'd be more impressed if I did the laundry. :cuss: The laundry's not even that bad. There's only 2 loads of it which I plan to do tomorrow. I should just do mine and leave his for him to do. :D

Edit: H just apologized nicely, so I kindly forgave him. :D

GREAT JOB ON THE EXERCISE BB!!!!

That is really fabulous! I hope the scale points down tomorrow! You really have worked hard for it.

Have a great night

Well done for getting 9 hours 16 minutes done. Our team has done so far ahead of the target it is silly.

I cannot say that I am surprised that you are hungry. I have to say that I have a good appetite myself. I just figure that if you do the exercise you get more calories to burn so you can eat enough to keep satisfied without putting on weight and with luck it will be at a level where I lose. I get twitchy when I see people having days at around 1200 calories because I know that when I count my calories I am never anywhere like as low as that.

I agree that 6 hours of exercise a week will really make a difference for Claudia.

So you and H have laundry discussions..... I just gave Rod a lesson in how to open a laundry basket and put his dirty clothes inside. He continues to think that men never need to do that - and it is acceptable for him to throw his dirty clothes in that general direction in the bathroom. On Wednesday - I washed again his clothes that I washed on the previous Wednesday. They sat wet in the washing machine for a week because he never thought to move them to the dryer. Laundry provides the topic for happy domestic discussions for us all!

Good luck at the scales.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Thanks Elda! I even did some planks in your honor yesterday, and showed some people at my gym how to do them--they'd never heard of them. Just spreading the word--call me the plank missionary...lol. :biggrinjester: I can hold one for 30 seconds now. I'm sure I could even manage 40 if I really pushed it.

Margaret--H will have no laundry complaints tonight, as it's finished. :p I will give H credit that he's pretty tidy, and never leaves things around the house for me to pick up. I'm much worse at that than he. His mamma taught him well. :)

I realize that when doubling one's exercise, one should double one's calories... If only that were true. I'd work out 12hrs a week...lmao. But I know that when exercising over 9hrs in one week, I can up my cals a couple hundred with no apparant harm--and probably some benefit so as not to slow down my metabolism.

Well, it's official. I will be a 24hr walker in the local American Cancer Society Relay for Life in 3 weeks from today. This means I have to walk for 18hrs during the 24hr fundraiser. It takes place at a local middle school track. Local businesses set up tents with fundraising activities, etc to raise money for cancer research.

So if any of you would like to donate to a worthy cause, and support me on my walk, please go to the following link where you can make an online donation. No donation is too small, and you can do it regardless of where you are in the world. Unfortunately, all of your credit card and bank details are private and encrypted, so I have no access to them should you donate. :biggrinjester:

Thank you! :)
