BikiniBound's Diary

Wow Kimmy, you look so good, chica!! I'm so proud of you. You wait and see, you'll be down to 200 in no time!!

Thanks, Rae. I thought you saw those pics when I posted them the other week. ;)

Well, weight was back up to 222 today. :ack2: However, I will confess that I ate some pb, jam and chips and cheese late last night. :banghead: Actually, it was kind of planned. I've been thinking, that I need to boost my metabolism. If I'm struggling to lose weight at 1500-1700 cals a day, it means my metabolism is messed up--especially when I was exercising 5hrs a week. Therefore, screw 60lbs by my b-day. I'm going to get my MR back so that I am in good shape for the challenge.

In my Curves book that got me started on my weight loss journey (I hate that word, btw--so overused these days), its maintenance plan is the following: Eat 2500 calories per day, and weigh yourself daily. Once your weight is 3lbs higher than your maintenance weight, eat 1200-1400 calories per day until it goes back down. This should only take a day or two to happen. Then start eating 2500 calories again, and repeat the process. After awhile, your metabolism will increase, and you should be able to eat 2500 calories w/out gaining for longer and longer periods.

So, that is what I'm going to do. Today is a 1200-1400 calorie day. Tomorrow probably will be, too, b/c I don't think I'm gonna drop 3lbs in one day. :D So far, I've had 231 calories today.

Any chance the 222 is just water retention from your high sodium late night snacking?

Good luck reestablishing your metabolism, sounds like you have a few days of very carefully planned meals ahead.

I want to try that curves suggestion with messing around with your calories.. because I think my metabolism is messed up. I'll try it out. I always find such great information in your journal. And you work so hard- a great inspiration. *hugs*

Hi Kimberly

I know that you can be that strict because you really cut back your calories towards the end of that last week of the challenge - but having days on 1200 to 1400 calories sounds tough!

I hope that my metabolism doesnt get stuffed such that I have to try messing about like that - counting calories and being restrictive sounds really bad to me. Give me a nice repetitive diet any day in comparison.

It does make sense to get your metabolism right though (and I am not just saying that because I am on your team and want you performing at peak for the challenge). The birthday goal was arbitrary and really anyone in the street looking at before and after pictures would never know whether you had lost 58 pounds or 60 pounds. It is too close to be able to visibly discern.

Losing weight (or to be more exact fat) is the name of the game that we are all playing and you really want to be getting a return for all your effort. I hated rearranging things and cutting out my raisins - but I did it because I was not happy with my rate of weight loss. You are doing what needs to be done to get the same result.

A lot of that 222 will be sodium though! You know that I always go up with cheese - that is why I axed it.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Well, I was at 219 a week ago, and haven't been able to get below 220 since. Even though I was being good, and my period is pretty much over, so I can't use that as an excuse. I've been struggling for months to lose every half pound, so I think my metabolism must be messed up. As I said before, there's no reason why the weight shouldn't be coming off faster, when I'm working out as much as I am, and eating as well as I have been.

Bella--Thanks for stopping by!

Brandy & Angel--Sometimes it's hard to know when it's b/c you're doing something wrong or if it's your metabolism. I hate to admit it, b/c it's not as easy a fix as slacking off is, but I do think my metabolism is messed up. Yours might be, too.

Margaret--I can do 1200-1400 calories a day for a couple of days--especially if I get to eat 2500 for most of the others. :D I honestly am surprised that you haven't hit a plateau from your repetitive diet, as that is often the case. I'm sure you massive amounts of exercise is what keeps your losses frequent. :)

Well, my mom was going to make hot dogs and mac n cheese for dinner tonight. Now Dad wants to try a new fish and chicken restaurant in town--of course it's all deep fried. :ack2: I wish this was a 2500 cal day. :drool5: Now I'll probably end up making salmon or a stirfry instead. I have 650 calories left today to stay under 1400--so battered and deep fried food is not going to be possible. :banghead:

Dad has gone to pick up the goodies. I told him not to get me anything. Wah! :( I'm now off to the gym so that I won't be here to be tempted by the grease. :biggrinjester:

I tried to tell the family not to get me pizza tonight... that didn't work. I have a pizza sitting in front of me- that I will be "in trouble" if I do not eat. (I'm gunna try to only have 2 slices. eeeek)... but good for you!!!

I know how ya feel. Have your told your family that you would appreciate their support, and that pizza would sabotage your weight loss? I mean, I guess I'd rather be "in trouble" than eat the pizza. Ha! Who am I kidding. I can rarely resist pizza. :D But seriously, stick to your guns girl, and maybe your family will wake up and see that you're serious about this.

The fish & chicken place was super busy, so Dad got McD's instead. He came back just as I was running out the door to the gym...lol. By the time I came back, the grease was gone. I still haven't eaten dinner--not really hungry--amazingly. BB's not hungry?? :svengo:

Exercise this week:
2/25—30 min exercise bike, 10.3 miles, weight: 221.5
2/26—30 min circuit training, weight: 222
2/27—30 min exercise bike, 11.2 miles, weight: 221.5
2/28—None, weight: 220.5
2/29—40 min circuit training, weight: 222

Total Calories: 1,301
Fat: 46g 34%
Carbs: 131g 32%
Fiber: 34g
Protein: 106g 35%

Well, I did really well today. Somehow I managed to get in 106g of protein and 34g of fiber in 1300 calories. Here's what I ate:

1 cup fiber one cereal w/1%milk
1.5 cups strawberries w/1/2cup 1% cottage cheese
salad w/deli chicken breast, romaine, tomato, cucumber, shredded lower-fat mozzerella, lo-cal dressing
lo-fat popcorn
6oz salmon, 2 cups broccoli/cauliflower
2 mini pb cups

Now we'll see how the scale rewards me tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath...lol.

Hi Kimberly

Salmon has a good chance of being rewarded. I hope that it is for you. Well done for keeping in such good calories and for avoiding the greasy food. You did well to keep the fibre and protein nice and high on that calorie total.

The decision to go to the gym to avoid the fattening food was good. The smell can get very tempting and if offered some it can be very hard to refuse. Also - if you do refuse you feel more deprived.

I do hope that I dont hit another plateau. My recent weightloss slowdown in January was bad enough. If I do hit one I think that I would find it easier to walk an extra mile or two every day than mess around too much with my food. I am hoping that my new food plan will see me down to goal. I am sure that I have at least two more stone to lose - I am not sure how much more than that. I will only know when I get there as my body has changed so dramatically since I was last any of those weights. At least with weighing every day we should be able to spot plateaus and slowdowns easier than people than weigh just once a week.

Take care
Love
Margaret

good job on the calories considering all the goodies that where coming your way! the scale better be nice to you!!

x

Ha! the scale was NOT nice to me, and Margaret, my salmon was not rewarded. :banghead: 221 today--only a pound lower than yesterday. I was hoping for a 1.5-2lb loss today. The scary thing is it probably would've been higher had I eaten the goodies. :banghead: I even checked my sodium to make sure it wasn't high--it was under 2,000mg, so not high. I give up! Not really, but it is discouraging. Now I'm gonna have to be super good again today. :ack2: I've already ridden 50 min/16.9miles on my bike, so I've got the exercise in the bag. :)

Margaret--I'm sure you won't be hitting any plateaus for awhile, since you made those changes to your diet.

well it is starting to be nice a little bit. its just testing how long you will be nice to it!

WTG on the excercise! :hurray: 50mins on the bike - i just about do 5!

Well, I can tell you right now 1200 calories a day would kill me. (I know, I tried it for a week and was dizzy and felt faint all the time by day 3.) 1550 seems to be my weight loss sweet spot.

It was 1300, not 1200..lol. Don't know if 100 cals makes much difference. :biggrinjester: I ate 1200cals for 2 weeks straight a couple of times a year ago, and did not feel faint..lol.

Angel--I'm hoping that by being very good again today, Scalentino will be back to 219lbs tomorrow. I will have to resist pizza tonight, though. :ack2:

I've got the rest of the day's food planned out, and I'm under 1400 cals--1,363.

resisting foods is crappy especially pizza! scalentino better be impressed. can't do much more then give up pizza to impress anyone!

are your 2200cal days coming up anytime soon?
