BikiniBound's Diary

Hi Kimberly

I am sorry about this business with your cousin. This is stressful for you all. As Rae says - do not let it cause you to comfort eat. We have all been there and it isnt any real solution. Anger does us no favours either.

The best thing that you can do is formulate a plan of things that address the situation as you see it and carry out the plan. Having done that - move on.

Has your grandmother written a will yet? If she hasnt make sure that she does so pronto - and make sure that cousin and sweet auntie know all about it and that there are a number of copies about - like with a number of family members and the solicitors.

This should help put out of their heads the idea that they have anything to gain by doing her any harm.

It always makes a lot of sense to write a will whether or not you have much in the way of assets.

Tightening up security at your grandmother's is probably a very good idea. If there is a suspicion that cousin or auntie has acquired a key - you can always change the locks. It is often just a question of changeing the central barrel and it is not necessarily too expensive. Definitely use window locks and deadbolts.

If there is a suspicion that they may lift her antiques - it may be worth taking photographs and forming an inventory of what she has. These things can be time consuming - but if you are selective you could probably photograph quite a few of her better things in quite a short visit. Digital cameras make these things easier than they once were. The fact that there is an inventory should mean that if anything does get lifted there is some sort of chance of identifying it in a shop. More importantly you could drop into the conversation with family members that an inventory exists and this information may act as a deterrent.

It sounds like your grandmother is nervous and feeling a little vulnerable - having caught them going through her things. Has she a mobile phone? If she hasnt got one - I would kit her out with one and tell her to carry it. That way she can summon help. My mother has a mobile phone and can use it and remember - she is 85 so is probably older than your grandmother.

As I said before - once you feel that you have addressed things - try not to carry the worry with you.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Margaret--that is a great idea about taking pics of her antiques. I will do it this week. Also, I'm going to have my dad take any important docs she might have and keep them at his house so snoopy eyes can't find them. Unfortunately, my gran does have a will, and coz knows he gets 20% of the proceeds from her estate--which would be incentive enough for him to do something stupid. However, her estate is her home and land, and with the housing market the way it is here, their house would be taken from them before he ever saw any money from my gran's. Hopefully he's smart enough to realize this. He does not have a key to her house. If he did, he wouldn't need to come in through the window. ;)

Gran has a cordless phone, so I think she's okay. She'll be 84 in 2 months, so she's only 1 yr younger than your mom. :) I don't think she's too worried about my cousing harming her--and I don't intend to get her worried. I'll keep it to myself.

Brandy and Rae--thanks for stopping by. :grouphug:

Steve--I would LOVE to whoop coz's ass. Seriously, I have wanted to kick his ass for years, but now it's to a whole new level. If my uncle gets wind of this I'm afraid of what he might do to them. Actually, I'm not afraid at all. :D

Weight was 220 today, so I'm still eating at or above 2000 cals today. And I will be doing that tomorrow as well regardless of my weight b/c of my birthday. :piggy:

I'm going to wish you a Happy Birthday now - because it is after midnight therefore Tuesday here.
:party::party::party::party::party::party:

Good call on an appropriate calorie level for Tuesday. Enjoy the cheesecake.

It sounds like you have the situation regarding your grandmother well in hand. Best not to worry her if she is not feeling vulnerable. Just keep a bit of an eye on her.

Take care

Thanks Margaret! As I mentioned in your diary, I'm not feeling too bad about this one, as my real age is only 30.3. :D

Haha. I liked that. I feel like I'm at the Olive Garden or something. :biggrinjester:

Exercise this week:
3/3—21 min exercise bike, 7 miles, weight: 220

Total Calories: 2,546
Fat: 111g 40%
Carbs: 305g 43%
Fiber: 36g
Protein: 108g 17%
Sodium: 2,736.2mg

My carbs and fat were crazy today, but I did meet my fiber and protein goals. The calories are where I wanted them today as well. I was going to exercise 30 min, and then I wasn't going to do it at all. Then I felt guilty b/c I didn't exercise yesterday, so I did 21 min on the bike. :D I will be interested to see what my weight is tomorrow. Yes, I'm a masochist, weighing on my birthday. :reddevil:

Now that your birthday has started properly - Happy Birthday again.

Have a good one!

I always find it easier to weigh than not to weigh (which I would find very stressful).

Happy birthday to you.

Happy birthday to you.

Happy birthday dear Kimmyyyyyyyy! :p

Happy birthday to you.

I know, I know......

Kimberly. :)
