Beyond 200

June 19

Dinner last night was different than what I planned - I was really hungry as I was feeding Frank so I made myself a dinner out of leftovers: 4 pieces spinach ravioli - no fat (oil or cheese) added, 2/3 of a brat, leftover corn & edamame veggie medly. I had one of the pomegranate/dark chocolate ice cream bars (250 calories, 17 g. fat) and finished off the white wine - @ 4 oz. I won't be buying any more wine this month. Overall, I think my calories were o.k. - I'm guessing between 1850-1950.

Today I made a smoothie for breakfast, 1/2 c. yogurt w/ a banana, frozen blueberries, and part of a pear that was about to spoil. It was good, but it didn't stick with me. I was hungry when I got off the train so I got the cosi omlette sandwich that I used to get daily and now haven't gotten for weeks. It's 600 calories (egg, everything bagel, cheddar cheese, spinach & roasted red peppers) so I'll have to eat really lite for the rest of the day and go on a long walk/jog with Frank tonight.

My plan for the rest of the day:
lunch: small lentil soup (199 calories)
snacks: 4 oz. cottage cheese w/ pineapple (130 calories), peach (? calories) w/ lite 3/4 oz laughing cow cheese (35 calories)

With this plan, I'll have eaten @1200-1250 calories by dinner time (assuming smoothie was @ 200 calories). Add a lite dinner, no dessert, and I'll be o.k..

By the way, I saw "195.6" on the scale this morning. Way too early to log it in, but I saw it!

I took Frank out in the baby jogger last night for a nice walk/jog to a park where a band was playing. I called a new friend with kids to join us, which she did, and my husband came by when he was done with work. It was really nice and it was a gorgeous evening. The walk to & from the park was about 3.5 miles total, I think. We didn't get home till 9 (poor Frank!) so we had a late dinner of take-out thai, but I had one small plate, unlike my husband's 3 platefuls. I absolutely would have gone back for seconds and thirds along with Eric before I joined WLF - but no more! I did have some dark chocolate with wafer cookies for dessert, but I'm o.k. with that. Allowing myself moderate after-dinner desserts is what's making this all work. I'm not sure how I'll fit in exercise today or tomorrow - maybe I'll do a segment or two of my 10-minute home videos. I'll take classes at the gym Friday & Saturday mornings.

June 21 - summer solstice

I took Frank out in the baby jogger again last night. It felt great! It took some discipline, because my husband said he was on his way home before we were out the door, but I went out anyway and he met us with our dog when we were a few blocks from home. I ate half of Franks pb & j last night, which was NOT in the plan. Not good. I need to make sure I have something handy & healthy to eat or drink when I feed him. The scale weighed heavy today - 198. I'm not buying it. I know I'm doing a good job & am overall going down. I'm not moving that ticker up!

June 24

I've got some work to do to show some progress in June. 4 to 5 pounds in June (and July, and August) is the minimum of what I'd like to see, and it's not happening as of the last few days/last week. My exercise has been really good and my meals have been good. I think it's time for my permissive dessert policy to go. I'm limiting myself to one sweet this week, from today through June 31st - one. The scale said 197.4 this morning. I moved my ticker up from 196 to 196.4 to reflect my official friday a.m. weigh-in, but I'm not changing it again till next Friday . . . .

That is the only way to not get discouraged especially when weighing in daily - I dont care to much abt the numbers until my offical weight in day which is friday as well adn then I change or worry or whatever...Good for you on maintaining below 200 :):):) Im still workign on getting there!!!

June 26

Scale today said 195.6 - so that's good. I'd been indulging in desserts pretty regularly since my mother-in-law's visit. I'm breaking that habit so I can keep seeing that number on the scale move down! My exercise and overall eating are still good. Yesterday I plugged everything I ate during the day into fitday - it was right at 1000 calories. That way, when I got home, I had in mind that I had @800 calories to work with for dinner. Evening is the hard time for me, because I'm hungry when I get home and then it's easy to add on extra, unnecessary (unwanted!) calories during the evening (bit of chocolate here, glass of wine there . . . ).

I'm going out to the park concert tonight with Frank in the baby jogger. It's a scorcher in Chicago today w/ 30% chance of rain - but I'm not going to let the weather get in the way of us getting out there. . .

the weather today is gross - it was 77 and oh so humid at 6:30 this morning -the day is only gonna get worse :) go spend some time by the lake and wear your sunscreen..

Frank & I will be at Welles Park in Lincoln Square at @ 7-7:15 if you want to add, oh, say, another 3ish miles to your walk tonight mal :) I'll be the chick who just got under 200 pounds :)

where is welles park? Give me cross streets (and not north south east west) and I might be able to pass by that way :)

I come from the Downtown Loop area and usually walk up Wells or LaSalle to North Avenue and eiter head to the beach or towards the zoo - but I'm looking to make it longer :D

That's right, I forgot that you've never gotten into the Chi-town "lake is east" mindset. Welles park is nowhere near the lakefront, so it may not be your thing. We'll be at the end of the park that's near the corner of Montrose and Western, where the cupola/stage thing is.

The nicest/most direct way for you to get there would be to get on Lincoln Avenue and walk (let's see, I can't say northwest . . . ) in the direction of the street numbers getting higher, all the way to Montrose - to about 4300 N. Lincoln. You can't miss the ginormous park on your left or the cupola/stage thing.

By the way, if you walk home on LaSalle, feel free to waive at my office building, 203 N. LaSalle, at LaSalle and Lake, next to the el and a block before the river. It's where they filmed that scene in "The Fugitive" where Harrison Ford gets off the el after handcuffing the bad guy to a pole, puts the gun in a mailbox, and heads up an escalator (presumably to the conference in the Hilton, but that's actually blocks away). I'm sure I'm long gone by the time you go by, since I have to be out the door by 4:30 to get Frank.

June 25 evening

Hi Happychubbette and thanks! I just got off the treadmill, 45 minute workout, 35 minutes in my target HR zone. I did a hill routine I found in fitness magazine. Amazingly, after I was done I still felt strong so I did a slow 1/4 mile jog. I could tell a big difference from the last time I did that hill routine several weeks ago. I've got much better cardiovascular endurance and overall strenght. Getting out there with the baby jogger and going to the gym is making a difference - and not just on the scale.

Weather in Chicago this afternoon was a disaster, major storms and even some flooding, so there was no way we were going out to the park tonight. I got in my gym clothes as soon as I got home, and that, plus my husband's support & encouragement, helped me get on the treadmill.

I'm logging in now because I've got some catching up to do at work, so I'm going to stay off WLF tomorrow. Good luck all of you out there!

Heeheehee - 45 mins huh - I hate that treadmill - I push myself for 30 mins - im satisfied with a mile but can usually get to 1.5 miles...I rotate walking and jogging...you should join the elliptical/treadmill club :):):) I hope you get all caught up at work :):):)

June 28

The # on the scale seems to be going up, not down, but my eating & exercise have been good. I fairly recently started doing some weight training. Could the increase in weight be because I'm building a little muscle? I'll do my best not to let the scale # worry me and to stay on track. I can't exercise tonight because of company, but I've got my schedule set up so that I can go to free classes at the gym tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday.

As long as you've got your eating in check, don't worry so much about the number on teh scale - and make sure you're taking measurements...sometimes weight just fluctuates...
