Bellaryna's Journey

I will get you that book the next time I see you - maybe you'll come to church on Sunday? LOL

Oh and where is my video, Wild Hogs? :D

I am holding it hostage!!! LOL
If , and that is a big if I can remember to grab it on Sunday I will.
You know I'll be there! :driving: Geez, miss one time and look at the grief....LOL :smilielol5:
We were just all sick. Whatcha want? Us to all come and infect everyone else. :ack2: Cuz' you know those kids of mine can't figure out how to cover all those coughs and sneezes! LOL Must be their arms are to short or something! hahaha

.:auto: Warning Drive-by Post! :auto:
Have like 5 minutes so here it goes. LOL :smilielol5:
Talked to a guy at the Y yesterday who said I really should try eating every 2 hours. Making sure that what I do eat is high in protein. That I should only eat a small amount, like the size of my hand flattened out.
So this morning I started that.
As of right now I have had almost 60g of protein and I am not even at 800 cals yet. And my food so far has been very well rounded.
I'll post all that later.
Weighed in at 203.4
Which I think is a pound less than yesterday.
Which is good when you figure in we went to Wendy's for dinner.
I had a lg chili and a plain tater. Poured the chili over the tater and wahla! instant yumminess.
Add to that a small Frosty, cuz' into everyone's life a little sweetness must fall, or else I would fall.
I am not sure what the cals were for yesterday but I did try to do the 2 hour thing. But again I wasn't watching any numbers.
It is amazing that I have only been doing this for like a day and a half and I am absolutely not hungry. I thought for sure that I would be hungry. Since the portion sizes are so small.
But he said that with the eating every 2hrs and keeping a good protein number I wouldn't be hungry. In fact that I would feel full.
So there you have it.
The Drive-By update!
I'm outta here..............................:auto:

You know this eating every 2 hours thing just may work out.
I never felt hungry. Heck I was even able to walk around the grocery store and not once did I get the urge to buy any of the usual junk.
Probably because I really was "full" by the time that I got to the store.
I input all my food for the day over at The Daily Plate.Com and the little pie chart was broken into perfect thirds. That is something that I have not ever been able to do.
At the bottom you can see just how well I did today.
I could have like another 150 cals to make my personal goal of 1600 a day, but honestly I don't think I could eat another bite!
Made this awesome dinner tonight.
All I can say is Yummmmmmmy!!!
I got it out Taste of Home's Healthy Cooking.
Black Bean Lasagna
Was soooo easy to make and very tasty too.
And I have said before that I am not to much into recipes and such but this was a definate winner!
I think that I am going to post the recipe over in the recipe section.
You guys just gotta try it.
Biggest Loser is on again tonight. Normally I would jump on the elliptical and watch it but the dumb remote quit on us so I will have to watch it in the bedroom.
Don't worry for us though the new remote will be here in like 5 days. LOL And I will be getting on the elliptical after the show is over. I think I will pop a movie in since I really am not that fond of the history channel and that is where the satellite is stuck until the new remote comes in.
Maybe I'll watch Sweatpea's "Wild Hogs" again. Since I still have it. LOL
Just got done downloading some songs from Walmart.Com for my MP3 player.
Needed some new tunes for the elliptical.
Man I just realized how rambly I sound.
Guess it's because I am in a hurry. With BL coming on in 1/2 an hour I need to get moving along if I am going to put the kids to bed in time to watch the show.

Catch everyone tomorrow!

Well I had to do your toddler job! And that Whetzel boy....wooooohweee!! Peeeewwww! I so don't want to do that again. Ha! I even told your dh no at first...and then at the end of Sunday School he sighs and says he has to go find someone to fill in. I sighed back and said well if you didn't find anyone else then I will do it!

I'm so mean!

I should loan you the BFL for women book. It's a little different than the original BFL. But it's a big proponent of eating every 2 hrs.

I did it for awhile - not sure what effect it had on me at the time. But eventually gave it up.

It's too hard to do with the type of job I have now. I could just see the kids - "What you got in your mouth?" LOL

Anyway, good luck with it! Let me know if you want to borrow the book - or maybe check it out from the library. Of course I know how good you are at returning things to me! Ha!!!

Some people don't like the BFL for women book, so you might want to check into the BFL book first or something else similar to it - there are many books out there that recommend the 2 hr eating w/ protein balance.

:ack2:

Hey there!
I think when I was a kid I was very selfish. Somewhere along the line I outgrew it I guess. Maybe it was having kids. You just give and give of yourself always. And when you try to take time for yourself you just get a nagging feeling that you could be doing something else. *shrugs shoulders* Guess it is just part of being a mom.
Yes kids puking in the car, all over you, in random places like Walmart the grocery store even the arcade. Not to mention getting pee'd on as well as the occasional poop! Of course my kids are past the pee and poop stage, Thank Goddness!!! :smilielol5: Cuz' at their ages now that would be really, really disgusting!!! :ack2:
Having the car sealed in plastic would be a GREAT idea! Sure will save you lots on carpet cleaning. hahahaha
Are you thinking since I had such a long and rambly post that I must have gone off my meds? :willy_nilly: LOL
I am still on them. Doing good actually. Just had some words bouncing around in my head that needed to get out is all.
Mom is doing as good as can be expected for a woman who take 17 different meds a day! I am trying really hard to get her to a place where she doesn't need all those pills. But she is stubborn and would rather not change the behavior that causes most of the problems that then require the meds. :banghead:
Other than everyone in my house is currently ill we are all doing great! Ha!

I guess I'll find out soon enough if your theory regarding selfishness is right. :D

LOL@ you going off your meds. It just sounded like you were down in the dumps, so I wondered.

Glad the high protein/frequent meals is working for you. I always eat before going to buy groceries otherwise I also tend to buy a few things I shouldn't. :blush5:

Wild Hogs was hilarious. :smilielol5:

I guess I am confused. From what I understood I was going to Big church for the 1st time in like 5-6 weeks. Hmmmmm........must have been one of them there things that Gil meant to tell me and didn't.
And your right you are mean! LOL
But we wouldn't have you any other way.

I am sooo hurt by that!!! NOT!
LOL I know, I know I suck at returning things. I think I will stick to "borrowing" from you if you don't mind. At least you won't serve me a fine for not returning things in a timely fashion.

Thanks for thinking of me. :blush5:
If you think it is bad to go to the store when you are hungry just wait until you take little who's-it. Especially when he/she reaches the age of about 3-4!!!
I know everyone says "Well I'm not gonna do things that way", and you may not. But usually most mom's cave at some point or another. Just so you can get the shopping done.
I know that there were a few times where we had to leave the store because my daughter was acting up so badly.

That eating every 2 hours sounds great, but are you sleeping for 16 hours or soemthing? Geez! Only 1400 something calories? :eek2: I'm really glad it's working for you though :D

I am tired and thinking of taking a nap so will make this quick.
Weighed in this morning at 201.4~
That's another 2 pounds down and puts me .8 away from where I was at the week befor my b-day.
I am hoping to see another downward number tomorrow.
I really think that this 2 hour thing is going to work for me. At least for the time being.
The only snag I ran into today was that my kids wanted me to come and have lunch with them at school. I thought about not eating lunch and just snacking on my almonds that I had in my purse. (See I was planning ahead!)
Well that worked okay for my son. Since of the other 5 year olds even cared if I was there let alone what I was eating.
With my dd it was another story.
I am always aware of how much she is watching me while I am on this journey. As well as about 3 of her friends were sitting with us.
I didn't want to give them the wrong idea about how to eat. I was worried that if all they saw me eating was a handful of almonds that they would assume that would be okay all the time.
So instead I had the schools grill cheese sandwich with a bowl of tomato soup. Also a side of pears and crackers in the soup. OVer all it wasn't bad. The sodium was plenty high but hat was mostly in the soup and I know that by drinking lots of water that will fluch outta my system pretty fast.
Okay now I am falling asleep while I am trying to type.
Later Gators~

I know! I wouldn't have ever thought that I would be satisfied with just 1400 cals. And trust me that was not my intention at all. Just worked out that way. Today I am already sitting on 1310 cals. And I had to guesstimate the sandwich and soup. Considering it was school food I went with the lowest grade quailty. Nothing against school food just that alot of it is no-name brand stuff so as to save the school money.
I really didn't feel hungry all day yesterday until about 10:00p-10:30p. That was the only time my tummy growled all day long.
And right now I don't think I could eat a thing I am feeling sooooo full.
But trust me there is lasagna left over from last night so I'll get my cals in.
I promise!

I guess I am confused. From what I understood I was going to Big church for the 1st time in like 5-6 weeks. Hmmmmm........must have been one of them there things that Gil meant to tell me and didn't.

Well you get what you get....ha! You chose to be my friend! :smilielol5:

I am sooo hurt by that!!! NOT!
LOL I know, I know I suck at returning things. I think I will stick to "borrowing" from you if you don't mind. At least you won't serve me a fine for not returning things in a timely fashion.

Now that would be a good money maker!

I think you made the right call eating with your dd! That meal actually sounded healthy compared to some of the meals at the public school my oldest goes to! Geesh! On the menu the other day was burrito and rice - um where were the veggies? Go figure...

Whelp I ended up going over the amount of cals that I wanted but according to The Daily Plate's calculations I only went over by 111cals. I would like to stay at 1600-1650 a day. And The Daily Plate says that I should be at 1840 to lose 2 pounds a week.
So by my standard I over shot by 320-270.

Again had a nice food day.
Had the lasagna as a left over for dinner. I tried to put the recipe on the forums recipe section but for some reason it just kept telling me that I wasn't "allowed" to do that.
Not sure why. So if anyone is interested I will post it here if you want it.

Food for the day
Breakfast
1/2 cup of Organic plain yogurt with 15g of Whey Protein Powder mixed in. (Chocolate flavor) added in some Splenda and it's just like pudding. 1 slice of 100% whole wheat bread with 1tbsp Peanut butter
Snack
1oz almonds, 2 McD's Coffee creamers(in my coffee of course :))
Snack
15g Whey Protein (Choc.) w/ 1/2 cup 1% milk, 1 lite string cheese
Lunch (School lunch w/ dd)
Grilled Cheese sammie w/ tomato soup, 1/2 cup pears, 5 saltines
Snack
Banana (4 1/2oz)
Snack
Honey Crisp Apple
Dinner
Black Bean Lasagna w/ 1 slice 100% wheat bread
Treat
1/3 cup Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia

Looking back over my food for the day I know what put me over was eating the food at the school. But my having one day higher in calories was a good trade off for my dd and her friends to see good eating habits.
Even though I was eating good per my plan for the day, they wouldn't have known that. All it would have looked like to them was that I wasn't eating. And that is not a good image to portray.

Percentage Totals for the Day
Cals Fat Cholest Sodium Carbs Sugars Fiber Protein
1951, 76g 173mg 3084mg 236g 90g 31g 100g

Yes, but being a responsible parent, that is what you do, and then you show boundaries that way. And the behavior stops.

Never ceased to amaze me how many kids are allowed to just run amok in public places while their parents either A) ignore their behavior and act like it isn't happening, or B) yell at the kids and make everyone's life miserable... or worse.

BTW, Bella, Glad to see you appear to be doing well and moving in the right direction. And yes, I am lucky to have such a nice place to ride, that's why I use it as often as I do. I figure my taxes helped pay for that little recreation spot, I might as well get my money's worth of enjoyment out of it!

I can't tell you how many times I have had to correct someone else's child out in public because the parent wasn't. That is not a place that I like to be either. Since most people take instant offense.
But I sure am not going to have someone elses kid/s talk to me that way when I won't let my own kids do it!
~~~
I heard that they are thinking of doing something similar here in Indiana. But most likely it won't ever come up this far or this far east. Since they are starting it down in the southern part of the state. Even if it did get this far it will take years to get here.
There is supposed to be another one that is in various stages of build/planning/ political controversy... in the central part of the state. An area called the Blackstone river valley. Basically this one would run (if it ever gets finished!) from Worcester Mass, to Providence RI. This one would be a doozy, and I could probably do most of a century ride, just on the trail! Rigth now though it is still being fought over, and with the way the economy is right now...
Speaking of which, I looked at my 401K tonight online :ack2: or maybe this one would be better :cry: down $130,000 in about a year's time... Sigh, good thing I wasn't going to be retiring anytime soon...
Hubby got a statement from our financial guru's today as well.
I know it's not much since we only just started putting into one not so long ago but his "accounts" dropped $1100 in one quarter.
Can you say OUCH! :cry:
This morning's #'s are lower than yesterday's. Not by much but I'll take what I can get.
201.2 That's down .2 pounds.
But see here is the thing. (Okay I'm gonna talk poo! LOL)
I weighed myself when I got up at 6:30. The number was 201.4 same as yesterday. Layed back down until 7:00am, got up, got the kids around~fed, dressed, ect.~ I had a cup of Fiber One Clusters w/ 1/2 cup 1% milk and 1 piece 100% whole wheat w/ 1tbsp p.b.
Not long after the kiddos got off to school I felt someone knocking on the back door............if ya catch my meaning. LOL
Being the weirdo I am I weighed myself afterwards 'cuz seemed to me to be a large than usual deposit. hahahah
That is where I got the 201.2 number.
So I wonder if I had waited to have breakfast would my weight have been lower still. Hmmmmm?
Guess tomorrow's weigh-in will tell the story on that one.
~~~
Just got done setting up my eating schedule for the day. Since I have to go to work today and that seems to be one of the places that I struggle with I wanted to make sure that I was extra prepared.
With my new eating every 2 hours thing I think that I won't have any of the cravings like I was before. Because I am seriously never hungry until bedtime.
So I added in one more "feeding" at 10:30pm. Normally I wouldn't have anything past 8pm. The usual time my tummy starts to growl. Figured I can drop an apple into that time slot. And hopefully we won't be at work much later than 1am or 2am because I really do refuse to eat that late. It just can't be healthy.
The only other thing I can think of to help myself out in this issue I have with the vending machines was to sit in the hall away from the break room. Of course when I have my actual lunch I would eat in there since I would need a table. But once I am done I am going to remove myself from temptation.
Also noticed that when I am drinking coffee my weight seems to flat-line or spike up. When I lay off the java my weight starts to decline again.
I was told last year that I shouldn't be having caffeine due to some issues with-in my head (go ahead bring on the jokes! LOL) and for a while I listened. But when you work in a freezer you really can use that extra boost of warmth.
Sooooo I am now going to be drinking green tea on my breaks. Warms me up without the caffiene. And is waaaay healthier for you anyways. Or at least that is what all those magazines say. *chuckling*
So there is the game-plan.
Think ahead and be prepared. I am positive that this is going to be a great weekend. Not only work related but weight related too.
Being pro-active is the name of the game.
Well since I have to work tonight I am going to go and take a nap.
I hope that everyone has a great weekend.
Mwah!

EDIT
Well even the best laid plans can go out the window! LOL
Dh called wondering if I would like to have lunch with him. And giving that he has been sick for this whole week and we haven't spent any time together at all (he was contagious!) I said sure. So we ended up at Arby's. I got one of their new toasted sub sammies. Very tasty. But not good for my new plan. hahaha
I would have been okay with just the sammie but I went ahead and got the curlie fries too. *Sheepish* So that really put me over the calories for the day. And the sodium! Thru the roof!!!! I am going to try and drink lots and lots of water to hopefully combat the effects from that. Also I tweaked the food plan for the day to accomodate the outing. So that I can stay with-in my calorie range of 1840. Don't worry I am not going to starve myself but I am definately not eating all the things I had originally planned too.
What ya gonna do? It's like yesterday. Sometimes it is more important the company your with than teh food your eating. Though next time I think I will stick with just a regular Arby sammie. That is if I ever go back ! LOL
