Being a responsible adult! Weight loss n stuff...

Perfect day no 2 down this week, 5 to go! I DO have to walk to work tomorrow, BOOOOOOO! But all good, still going to get up and go to the gym. Have all my meals and snacks prepped and ready to go for the entire weekend for both myself and my husband, so no excuses!!

Work was busy, think it's probably going to be a full on weekend. That's a good thing though, stops me getting bored and just standing around doing nothing. Also makes time go way faster!

Happy New Year, Lucy!!! And great job on the perfect days. "Perfect days" are a construct that I like and use often. Helps crystallize the need for a plan, and helps you then follow that plan. Thanks for it.

This has got to be sort of the ideal time of year for you guys weather wise, no? New Year's eve was probably the worst weather I've experienced in the 12 years I've been down here in Phoenix.

Oh my GOD, weather MrVee. On New years eve, I went to sleep at around 10pm (being a nanna at my ripe old age of 26, hahaha) and was woken from a seriously deep sleep at around 12.30am wondering why the fireworks were so freaking loud (yea, I was pretty confused). I kept drifting off and waking up for about 3 or so hours with the windows rattling- we had possibly the longest and loudest thunderstorm I've ever experienced. My husband didn't sleep at all, he said it sounded like the end of the world and he couldn't sleep through the world ending, haha. We've had bulk thunderstorms here the last 6 weeks, it's weird being in QLD and having storms in summer. In WA we'd only ever get rain in winter when it was cold, and our summers were dry. Here, it's a constant battle with the humidity and the rain in summer. I don't know if I'll ever get used to it! I actually love thunderstorms though, as long as I don't have to walk in them.

I definitely think the "perfect days" keep me on track, it's like a game seeing how many I can get in a run. Days I have planned cheats are still "perfect days" too, as I'm supposed to have a cheat meal once a week to restore glycogen from being a bit carb depleted. Just works out perfectly next week, cheat meal on Mon night and then legs day on Tue so should be a good session!! And I'm SOOO looking forward to fish and chips. I don't care for takeaway/drive through places, but we are so lucky here in that the majority of fish n chip shops here have locally caught fish and know how to cook it perfectly. Can't wait for some grilled salmon!!! Oh, and chips of course. Been ages since I've had them!!

I went to the gym this morning and was the only person there! I go to a 24hr gym so it's unmanned most of the time unless you're there during peak hours, and there was no trainers or anyone there for the first half of my workout. It was so weird, I think just because it's a public place and I'm so used to seeing people everywhere. It was great, all the equipment to myself. Haha!! I did a leg workout for about 40mins, had a stretch then went home. I don't think I did any more than I would during a PT session, it's just it took me a while to rack and unrack my own weights whereas the PT normally does that for me while I'm doing the next exercise. I am walking to work today, the weather is starting to turn a bit though so hopefully it's just rain.

I'll put tomorrows food in now, I've already completely put together all tomorrows meals too so it's not going to change at all.

Plan for tomorrow

Pre workout Water with lemon, 4 Brazil nuts
Post workout Protein shake
B Oats tomorrow, I was thinking I might turn them into pancakes. It'll be my usual oats recipe + 2 egg whites.
S 130g turmeric chicken breasts, cauliflower soup
L Smoothie (I might make a banana one tomorrow, have a few brown ones in my fruit bowl screaming to be used!)
S 40g hummus, 1 small carrot, 1/4 red capsicum
D 130g Mexican shredded beef in a gravy I made from the pan juices (smells like tacos. Nom nom nom) about 1 cup pumpkin (2 small pieces), 1 cup green beans

Exercise Going to the gym again in the morning, anywhere from 30-45mins. It'll be an upper body workout of some sort, hoping to do a bit of chest/back/shoulders, possibly abs to finish. I have a lift to work tomorrow, so no walking!

Happy New Year!! You're doing so well. Great job fitting into that dress.
I'm a chicken when it comes to thunderstorms, a little less now than when I was a little younger, so I don't think I'd have enjoyed the weather you had! You always have such an interesting meal plan, my meal plan generally consists of the same 3-4 items repeated.

I LOOOOOOOOOVE thunderstorms!! I don't know what it is about them, I feel so charged. Like I've just had a cup of strong coffee. Haha. The variety in my food diary is because I have to be varied with my meals... have a nutritionist on my back picking apart my food diary, if my veges aren't varied enough I get my ass kicked haha. Oh, and my meal plan tells me when I have to have white meat/red meat/seafood/ veg protein too so my proteins are always pretty varied. Throw into the mix that my husband is SUPER fussy and likes all his meals to be different.... means I have to be a lot more creative. I'm actually happy having the same thing for lunch and dinner every day. I like being creative with my breakfasts though!

Well- yesterday was perfect day number 3! Today will be perfect too of course, straying from my plan is not an option. Going to get that perfect fortnight!! Really looking forward to my carb up tomorrow night, getting a little hungry in the evenings again. Usually it goes away for several days after my huge meal!! Got to the gym this morning too, did chest/back/abs and was there about 40mins. So glad I have a lift to work today though, over walking. Haha! Actually I say that but I think I might go for a walk tomorrow morning after breakfast. Would really like to try to get some activity in every day! Wouldn't do more than that though, need my recovery days.

Here's the food plan for tomorrow

B 1/2 cup fruit free muesli, 1/3 cup frozen raspberries, 1/4 cup carton coconut milk, 60g coconut milk yogurt, 1 tsp chia seeds
S Carrot and red capsicum, 40g hummus
L Mexican beef and salad mountain bread wrap
S 40g mixed nuts, piece of fruit (not sure what)
D CHEAT MEAL- fish n chips of some variety. Right now I'm thinking grilled salmon, small chips and a small calamari pack. NOMSSSSSSS

Exercise Going to get out of the house and go for a walk after breakfast

4 perfect days in a row, yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!!! And... my waist has noticeably shrunk this week. Like REALLY noticeably. I actually don't feel chubby anymore! Just a little bit 'fluffy', hahaha! Fit into yet another dress that wouldn't do up a few weeks ago which is awesome, rocking that out today. Also got a bunch of new clothes in an AU size 10 today, haven't tried them on yet but I'd say I'm pretty close to fitting into them. Got them with a gift voucher I got for Xmas so I'm excited they came today!

Today my husband has the day off, we are going out to spend one of his Xmas gift vouchers and top up my fruit n veg stash. Apart from that... the walk didn't end up happening, it's bucketing down outside. I actually showered so I could walk down the road to get a few things but that didn't happen, it hasn't stopped since I woke up! Guess I'll just have to enjoy this forced rest day along with my cheat meal tonight. Jeez, tough life! Haha!

Oh, last night we randomly watched The Princess Bride as neither of us had seen it... it was so good! I don't watch older movies very often (I kinda count anything before the 90s as 'older', probably just cuz I was born in the later 80s) so I was pleasantly surprised! Only watched it because so many forums I frequent kept recommending it.

Anyhoo, might pop in tonight and update how my day went and post tomorrows food then. I still have to organise food for tomorrow so I'll know exactly what I'm eating by then!

Great job on 4 perfect days!
It's always great when you eat well and lose that water weight that makes you feel big and bloaty. I can't wait till I can fit into my clothes again, not to mention new smaller clothes!

Arrgh so today was NOT perfect. I guess it totally could've been a lot worse but still... had my morning snack, then had to stop at a health food shop on the way back and got distracted by some chocolate. Ended up eating 235g of moon macadamias (macadamias in a crunchy honey shell covered in white chocolate. Yes they are amazing) and also got a tub of coconut milk ice-cream (choc PB flavour), I had about 4 mouthfuls and decided I didn't like it. Then we decided to have fish and chips for lunch instead of dinner, had 6 calamari rings and a piece of grilled fish and ate about 1/2 my small chips when I just couldn't eat anymore. Haven't had anything for the rest of the day except for 2 cups of herbal tea. So not the worst day ever, but way worse than just a cheat meal!!

Tomorrow I will be right back on track!! I have 2 days till weigh in and want to see a good number!!!!!!

Food plan for tomorrow

Pre workout water with lemon, 4 brazil nuts
post workout protein shake with glutamine
B Blueberry oatmeal bake
S 2 buckwheat crispibread, 1/3 avocado
L Chicken in mountain bread, 2 cups coleslaw
S 2 hard boiled eggs, carrot/capsicum sticks
D Chicken over zucchini noodles with eggplant and mushrooms

Exercise 30mins PT (leg day)

Don't really have any plans for tomorrow, not sure what I'm going to get up to! Would really like to leave the house though, so we'll see...

Reading your food plan makes me want to start cooking and baking more. Everything sounds so interesting!!

Oh thanks Cate!!

GUYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS------ HUGE non-scale victory today. I wasn't going to try on any of my new clothes for another couple of weeks as I didn't want to disappoint myself. Well, today I did... and then tried on everything else in my wardrobe... I'm officially an AU/UK size 10 again!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So freakin excited. Actually makes me think that I might be reaching for an 8 by the time I get to my goal, we'll see.

In other news... this mornings breakfast tasted like blueberry strudel, it was diviiiiine. I made mine and my husbands breakfasts together so this serves 2, but here's what I did:

1 punnet blueberries (125g- frozen will work just as well!)
2/3 cup oats
1/4 cup almond meal/flour
1/2 cup almond milk/ carton coconut milk/ normal milk/ water
2 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp. natvia/truvia/other sweetener of choice
1 tsp vanilla essence
4 drops vanilla stevia (or another tbsp. sweetener)

Preheat oven to 180C. Line a normal size loaf pan with baking paper, and spread the blueberries out over the bottom. Add all other ingredients to blender and blend till smooth. Pour ingredients over the blueberries, then bake for 30mins. Let it cool in the tin for 10-15 mins, then very carefully flip it over onto a cooling rack (it's pretty much an upside down cake so treat carefully. You'll need to flip it over to cool so the blueberries are on top and not getting crushed and slipping through your rack). Either eat now, or cut into 2 serves and refrigerate till you need it! I made mine last night and heated it for a minute this morning, had to eat it with a fork cuz of all that juicy blueberry goodness. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh heaven.

Had a really good legs session today, I'm in PAIN. Actually I do have to go out today too, have a beauty appt. at 11 that'll go for most of an hour. I'm going out rocking a really cute Sugar Hill boutique dress that I haven't worn for a few years, just cuz I can. Haha! (that's a UK boutique, they have some of the cutest clothes there! I buy online, of course). Hmmmmmmm after that, there is nothing on the cards. Wade is home another couple of days so maybe we'll do something.

I'll put down tomorrows food now since it's pretty much sorted!

Pre workout water with lemon, 4 Brazil nuts
Post workout protein shake with glutamine
B French toast bake (1pc bread torn up, 2 eggs, 2 tbsp. light ricotta, vanilla, cinnamon, stevia)
S Pistachio and coconut, punnet of blackberries
L 130g tuna steak, 2 cups coleslaw
S 2 crackers, 1/3 avocado
D 130g beef in 2 cups mixed veg

Exercise PT- chest day!

The trip down pants sizes was maybe my favorite part of the whole process (though it was also expensive). I seemed to have stalled for at 33/34, but it's going to be great when I'm in that fashionable 30/31 range. Congrats on getting into a nicer dress size!!!

Thanks MrVee!!!! I was stoked!!!

Perfect day 5 down this week (even though they aren't all in a row, haha!) Tomorrow will make 6, and then weigh in!!

Spent most of the arvo at the Casino with Wade, watching him lose money. I have no plans for tomorrow, can't even think of anything I want to do really! I have gym in the morning and that's about it. Will probably do a bit of meal prep for the rest of the week too so my work days are super easy, and will start thinking food plan for next fortnight!

Your perfect 5 days (but not in a row) reminds me of a Stephen Wright joke:

"So I walk up to this restaurant that says 'Open 24 hours' and the door is locked. I knock on the door and a guy comes out 'We're closed.' So I answer, 'the sign says you're open 24 hours.' 'Well, not in a row.'"

Good luck on the weigh in.

GOod job on the clothes again! I can't wait to have those moments (starting with my 'fat' jeans and working my way down!) Having 6 perfect days is a great accomplishment and I know you can do it!

Hey Sunflower!!!!!!!! I love getting creative with my meals, keeps me sane. Also if I don't mix it up I get big scary red comments all over my food diary from my nutritionist... feels like making mistakes on a test or something haha! I guess it keeps me in line more and also forces the creative juices flowing so I don't get my ass kicked.

Thanks Cate!!! It's so good wearing stuff with an 's' on the label again, it's been a few years now!

Haha MrVee. Hey, they weren't wrong!! I have a good feeling about my weigh in tomorrow, ready to start kicking ass (or kilos) again!

Thanks Mystic! I suddenly have an entire wardrobe of clothes at my disposal instead of only half. So exciting!

**************************************************

Thought I'd upload some pics of food I ate today. Didn't quite stick to the meal plan as I had fresh stuff to use up as opposed to the frozen stuff I would've used! Also I stuck completely with my nutrition guidelines so still a perfect day so far!!

This was my morning tea...

It's a Vitamix ice-cream (easily one of my fav things to invent and chuck together). Tried a strawberry ripple type thing, OH MAN SO GOOD! The strawberry part is a punnet of strawberries (washed and topped) that I cooked down in a saucepan with 1 tsp natvia, then after about 20mins I chucked it in my blender with a 1/4 tsp xanthan gum and poured it into an ice cube tray to freeze. The ice-cream part is 40g cashews, 350ml ish of water, stevia, vanilla and about 1/2 tsp xanthan gum, blended and also frozen into cubes. This morning all I did was blend the strawberry stuff until it looked like sorbet, tipped it into a bowl and set it aside. Then blended the vanilla cubes until it looked like soft serve, tipped the strawberry stuff on top and blended for only a couple of seconds so it was slightly mixed, then dug in. SO. GOOD.

This was lunch, a smoked salmon tart-type thing.

This is actually huge, I used a standard loaf pan to bake it/shape it and that's on a massive dinner plate. I lined a loaf pan with baking paper, then fitted a pc of mountain bread on top of that as a base. The tart ingredients are 1/2 cup onion, 1/2 cup chopped red capsicum that I softened in a pan with 1 cup spinach, 50g chopped smoked salmon, 1 egg, 2 egg whites, 2 tbsp. light ricotta, 2 tbsp. parmesan cheese, 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard, pepper, garlic. Kinda just mixed it all up, poured it on top and baked it at 180C for a little over 30mins. This was also really good, somehow it managed to still have a kind of buttery tart-y taste but was obviously pretty light. Would totally do this again and with other ingredients too!

Finished a huge amount of food prep for the weekend, made all mine and husbands breakfasts and sorted food for the next 2 days. I have exciting breakfasts!!! For my 2 oat days I cut up an apple and cooked it with a few blueberries and cinnamon, poured that into 2 ramekins and then added my usual oatmeal mix to the top and baked them so they'll be like fruity little cakes. Or crumble-ish. Or upside down cake-ish. I never know till I actually eat them, haha! Also made a savoury egg and cheese mini loaf instead of going for my usual French toast thing, so when I have that I'll slice it down the middle and toast it in the sandwich press. That's 1 pc of my rye-less rye bread blended with 2 eggs, 2 tbsp. light ricotta, 2 tbsp. parmesan, garlic and various herbs. Also made a yogurt and raspberry mix that I froze for muesli day, I'll just chuck my muesli on top. Made husband a banana bread which is for 4 days- he eats the same as me so I do that with my usual oatmeal mix. Easier for him to take to work than all these fun things I eat with a spoon!

Anyhoo, since the food is all planned and done I can put down tomorrows food plan!

B Apple/blueberry oatmeal bake (as above)
S 130g beef in a wrap with various veges I have stashed in my fridge (prob tomato, cucumber, spinach)
L Green smoothie
S Pistachio and coconut bar, frozen cherries
D Stir fry with 130g turmeric chicken breast

Exercise Todays gym sesh was moved to Fri, I'm only walking to work tomorrow. Was thinking of still going to the gym but think I might go Fri/Sat instead.

68.5kgs today, so I lost 900g this week!! YESSSSSSS! Right on track to get to 67kgs in a fortnight... just have to lose 800g one week and 700 the other and I'm there!

Next weigh in my BMI should be in the 23s and I should be out of the 150s!
