Becoming a Beauty Queen in 2013 ;)

I think I saw a commercial for it before. Thanks Justina, I will look into it and let you know how it goes.

Doing well for the past two days with eating...feels like second nature. I think I have finally found an eating lifestyle that I can stick to.

Hey Xenon - good to have you back & you are doing great too!!
Fantastic. Keep up the good work & have a nice week!

I have a major astrophysics paper due this week...

Uh, yeah... me too.

Seriously, I was thinking about tackling a really tricky 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle later that depicts the solar system... that's close, right? :D

There sure seem to be some brainy people in this forum.

Thanks so much Justina :) I did well again today...I think about 1000 cals so far although I do not think I will eat much after. Also washed the car today for exercise and felt really good after.
Have a great week, lovely--Hope your paper isn't too stressful xx
Thanks Sunflower :) Its okay so far...but then again I haven't really done anything yet :D Why does procrastination feel so good?

Actually this is very good Don. There are some astrophysics students who are good with the physics but not good with knowing the planets and the properties of them. I am actually one of those students :D lol I tend to study objects in the solar system that interest me. Like some of Jupiter's moons--Io and Europa. Our moon is basically geologically dead but Io has hundreds of active volcanoes! Jupiter is interesting too. I always thought of it as an "Icy Gas Giant," so cold because it is so far from the sun. I even read somewhere that the core of Jupiter is so cold that the gas in the core may even be solid. Last semester in Astronomy I learned that the core of Jupiter is believed to be even hotter than the surface of the sun! I guess I'm okay with planet knowledge but could definitely use improvement. We have learned about properties of stars and in my next astrophysics class we will be learning about properties of galaxies and more cosmological stuff. Right now we are doing properties of the interstellar space medium. This stuff is great :) It's actually not that bad once you have done all of your prereqs. I also think Modern Physics should be taken before astrophysics.

Dwarf planets are also pretty cool. Did you know there is a dwarf planet between Mars and Jupiter called Ceres? OK sorry if I went off on a nerd tangent with this stuff, but I have loved this stuff all of my life. I think everyone has a little scientist in them :D

Did well again today diet wise. Bought some simple things to last me for the rest of the week and I am actually amazed at how much money I will be saving lol.

Hey Xenon - that's awesome that you get to study something that you enjoy! Fantastic!

Well done on doing well with diet - it always help me to save money when i plan a week ahead (foodwise :D ) Good job!

Thanks Justina. I'm coming over to your diary next. I think I might give the juice fast a try from time to time...but I need a juicer first.

Still doing well diet-wise and I have decided to set tangible goals of fitting into some of my old jeans. It is crazy, I have jeans from size 12 to size 24 in my closet. So I am going to start off with some size 20 jeans that have no stretchy stuff in them. They make me look like I have some form of bottom, but I cannot close them over this enormous gut. I also intend to do more strength training on the abs to hold this everlasting belly up better. Anyways, I am going to hang the jeans up in a part of my closet where they will be facing me and I will attempt to try them on at the end of the month.

Keep up the good work Xenon.

On the money saving thing, I recently just did my taxes and it involved going over my expenses to see which count for business. Anyway, I was absolutely stunned at the kind of money I spent ordering food out before I got on my weight loss kick last July. I can't believe I was eating that much and spending that much.

Sort of a side benefit to eating better. The downside is the money I save on food I have to spend on new clothes. But that's a good downside. :)

I've found I've spent more money since eating healthily..Things like fresh meat, veg, fruit isn't cheap compared to the £1 pizza you can get over here!

Glad you're doing well chick xxx

Hey you - you are doing great! I giggled at your closet with jeans from sizes 12-24! I know what you mean...with me - the minute I lose weight - I throw out the big clothes to make room for the new...with me yoyo-ing so much in the past 10 years it wasn't exactly a cheap solution. Anyway I am pretty sure soon you can get into those smaller pair of jeans without a problem!
Juicing is great! That would be cool if you did in May with me! You need a juicer first for sure..Depending on how much you want to invest - there is a great variety out there. I got mine for $35. (you can buy a better one for several hundreds - but I m satisfied with what I currently have)

Good job Xe Using the jeans for motivation should help I have a pair of jeans that I haven't fit in for the last 10 years they are Marc Jacobs and I paid a fortune for those and I just refuse to give them away....my goal is to fit in those by the End of 2013 thank you for the great Idea,......I see that you found my journal thanks for visiting!!!

Hell yeah that's a good downside. I love fashion! :D I ate out alot and ate cheap things like the dollar menu at mcdonalds but it adds up monetarily and fat-wise (could not think of a proper word for that lol)

Well yes there is this also. If I was trying to eat things healthy in a different kind of way I would be spending a lot of money. This diet I made for myself is cheap. I'll give you an idea of what I mean.
12 eggs $0.95-->egg whites for breakfast 6 days
1 head iceburg lettuce $1.89--> salad for lunch 5 days
Soup mix packages (chicken noodle or french onion) $1---> Enough soup for me and my mom for a week
5lb bag of rice $3.89--> enough rice for the family for a week.
1 whole small chicken $4.00---> dinner for 4 days

Other fruits and veggies for the week:
Tomatoes $2.00 for 4
Baby Bella Mushrooms sliced $2.00
Organic carrots (usually put these in the soup): $0.99/ 8oz
Cabbage: $0.64/ lb
Bananas: $0.62/ lb
Total $18.62..I used to spend this amount on food for only two days and this is lasting me for almost a week on most things.

I checked it out. There is one online with a payment plan. $119.00 discounted to $99.00 with three payments of $33.00. May would be a good time for me to do it because I will be out of school :D I am looking forward to it.

No problem! I'm going to see how it goes for me too. Numbers and weight drive me crazy but I love clothes and fitting into them will be divine. Marc Jacobs jeans! They sound cool lol.

Well everyone unfortunately I found out that i am fatter than I thought...i am a size 24! Those jeans without stretchiness are a size 22...so size 22 is my goal for month end. *crosses fingers* lets see how it goes. Just had an amazing salad and grilled cheese.

Meh, don't worry about the sizes - every store have different size systems going on!!
You will get into those jeans in no time!!

Keep up the good work!

hey XE

The programe I am following had me doing juices for breakfast and I use my blender one is spinach, beets, carrot, coconut water and 10 frozen strawberries plus a protein powder! they say to juice but I just put everything in a blender and it comes juice! If it works for this it should work for all juices saves you money too!

Thanks Veronique. Sounds tasty, I will definitely try it.

It's going okay Justina :)

Today was the last day of the semester and it was such a crazy day. I left home at 8 am and did not get back home until 10pm! At one point I was even stranded on the highway lol. Well I'm glad it is over with. My new job starts on Monday and I am happy about that. It's good to have some financial independence :D Still I feel a more anxious and sad about it than happy because this is the first time since my son is alive that I will be working a full time job. This week I was away for a lot of hours because I was finishing some term end projects and every time I came home he was just totally out of control. It's a hard adjustment for him and I feel so bad that I will be doing this for some years to come. It's better for the family that I work though. I literally did not eat today because i had no money and I was on the road for longer than I expected. Luckily a friend of mine lent me $5 towards the end of the day and I was able to get something. I actually had $6 to start when I left, but my husband thought it a good idea to spend it on himself.

Anyways I am looking forward to the juice fast next month. I am secretly hoping I will be able to stick with it for a long period of time so that I can see a significant loss. I would love to use it to get out of the 200's, but that would probably require 70+ days of fasting. Hoping to get a juicer this weekend. Hubby is not too thrilled about me going on a juice fast and wants me to stick to the diet I made for myself. I think I'll resume that diet after the fast :D i have otherwise been eating terribly this past week and am afraid to get on the scale. Every other day is a feast, and every other day is a famine.

Well, off to bed for me XD a little nervous because some dude that keeps following me around was waiting for me when I got in a little while ago--but I'll just make sure everything is locked extra tight lol.

Hey Xenon, sounds like you had a hell of day yesterday. I hope you can get some rest over the weekend.
I think your scale is feeling tom...i have it too right now - I didn't put on weight - but didn't lose any either.
As for the juicing, I wouldn't suggest doing it for 70+ days, esp not without medical/nutritional supervision.
I think if you are healthy it's safe to do up to 10/15 days on your own. I did it for 5 - and I think it was an amazing experience. I lost 9lbs - and I kept it down! It is important to do the transition carefully. If you have questions about it let me know. So my plan is to do a 5 day juicing every month until I am out of the 200 (same as you) I am predicting that to happen by the end of summer. I am planning on doing the next one on May 13 - if you wanna join me :) - it is for 5 days only.
Also there is a lot of things I follow during the juice diet: like lemon water in the morning, herbal tea before going to bed etc. Have you watched the movie/checked out the website?
As for the challenge - no I wasn't the biggest loser because I previously gained weight & it doesn't count that I lost it again... - nothing to do with the juicing. Lol. It's ok, I am over it.
I hope you have a fantastic weekend. If you have any qs pm me.

Oh ok Justina I was wondering what it possibly could have been. But yes glad to hear you are over it because you still did amazing. Sorry if my talking about it dragged it on a little.

I checked out the site you sent me and downloaded alot of the juice recipes. I have not watched the movie as of yet tho. I am really TERRIBLE with movies :blush5:. They seem to blend together in my consciousness lol. I don't really think I could do a 70+ day fast. In the past I have water fasted for one week, and that was the longest I ever fasted. I would love to join you on the 15th I just hope I can get a juicer by then!
