Back on Track

Thanks T2, up most of the night again?

I'm up just a tiny bit from where I was Friday. Still up 2.4 from my low, but it's my fault for not tracking calories. *sigh* I'm tracking them now.

Went outside to meet my jogging partner and she wasn't there. That was a first. Turns out she tried to call me and email me that she couldn't make it. I did a tiny bit on my street, but it really was too dark and I don't feel safe on my own. Am about to wake husb to ask him to get kids ready for school so I can go run at Memorial Park.

Warmed up with 1 minute of jumping jacks - 70. This really does warm up all the muscles and get the heart rate going. Think I might do those throughout the day once in a while. Walked down my street while I was waiting, a quarter mile out (3:41) and jogged it back (2:08).

Good for you for not going back to bed when your partner didn't show. lol Which is probably what I would've done. :p Have a great Tuesday!

Went to Memorial Park. Finally jogged after a couple of weeks of not doing it. THANK GOODNESS I was able to do it, and much better than I thought. I was really dogging myself (in my internal dialogue) for not jogging more to get ready for my 5K on 10/28. I've only wanted to walk lately and was disappointed with myself that after 7 months of walking/jogging that I wasn't doing all jogging yet. I'd sort of given it up. Forced myself to go today.

Took my husband with me. I jogged better than usual, and did not need to stop. I did stop and walk for him part of the second half because he hasn't jogged in over a year. Well, he was really bummed with himself because I think he assumed he was still more fit than I am. I think he was really unhappy. That part was sad, but I was really happy with how I did.

I jogged:
1.5 mi - 10:20 minute mile pace (15:20 total time, 5.9 mph)
1.5 mi - 12:40 pace (walked abt 7-8 minutes, 19 minutes total time, 4.7 mph)
0.1 mi - 9:20 pace (this made it 3.1 miles, or 5k) in 56 seconds (6.4 mph)
3.1 mi - 11:23 avg pace, (35:16 total time, 5.3 avg mph)

Plus .4 miles total walking to and from car - I call it my warmup/cooldown and about 10 minutes stretching afterwards.

Thats a pretty good walking pace. Wow. Nice job. A 30 minute 5k will keep you from being DFL. There's a little Triathlon anacronym for you!

HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I already checked last year's runner results and I will finish in the last quarter, but not DFL!!!!!!!!!!! There were about 750 5k participants last year Reference: Great Pumpkin run 5K

Cuz I know I can do it in the 32-33 range. I said I had to stop, walk and wait for my husb!!!!! :p

It was mostly jogging today, and I felt like I could have easily jogged the whole time. What a surprise. I can't wait to go back and jog it again.

It's a beautiful place (but 25 minutes away), much more motivating than my cookie cutter, built on top of old plowed under no trees rice fields then little oak trees planted, concrete, suburban neighborhood. Though my neighborhood is 10 yrs old now and the oaks are doing nicely and none of the other cookie cutter neighborhoods around us put 4 oaks in each front yard, so we have that going for us anyway. But I digress.....

WoW! Sounds like you are very busy too me! I have tried running some but don't seam to have the stamina for it! i'M GLAD YOU'RE DOING SO WELL. kEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

HEY! I said you wouldn't be DFL. Actually you are definitely in the top 15% of people in the country if you can a around a 10 minute! I am way slower than you right now! I run like 3-4 miles, but not near as fast as you. Heck, you walk faster than I run!

No, but seriously you rock, and I mean my prior post as a compliment. Hope your feelings werent hurt at all.

ty ohd, you are a dear for coming over to see me here.

thanks be gone soon for the encouragement.

hiya m2m and thanks for always checking in on me.

noooooo fgt i'm not hurt. i typed that i did a 35 minute run and you said if i did a 30 min run i wouldn't be DFL - so i figured you were teasing me to pick up the pace. i was just playing back. i appreciate any and all comments..... and i can handle a little teasing, oh even if inadvertent. thank you fore the kind words.

nuts! forgot to do my strength training. better get it in quick. have food numbers to post later too.

Just FYI, if I lived in Texas I would run in that 5k to kick your butt though! :D

35 minutes is respectable.

You couldn't handle the heat. LWMOV!!!!!!!

JK, if it were summer maybe, and you were still hopping around one legged, I might be able to beat you.

Well, you are training for a Triathalon..... What's a Marathon to you???

Have a great workout Patty. I'm giving the strength training a break tonight since I did my 2 mile powerwalk. Although...you're making me want to pump a lil' iron now. :D

Its still about 26.2 miles...you know, a fairly long car ride.

Yeah, the Tri I am training for...its called a sprint. For starts at least. Its only 1/4 mile swim, 12 miles bike, 3 mile jog. Not even close to as hard as a marathon. I would love to do a 5k right now, but unfortunately, here in Northern Indiana, we tend to shut down the outdoor racing in about early september.

Hey Patty....glad that you have gotten back into jogging!! I wish I could but my upper body still being a little too large and not having been able to find a supportive bra kind of prevents me. I try and jog a little when I'm on the treadmill but it gets painful after a while.

Hope you have a great day!!

Oh Tri, you know I'm teasing. I figured you were doing a mini tri. You wouldn't catch me dead going for a marathon, or even a half-marathon for that matter. 5k and 10k sounds doable to me. I can't believe how far M2M goes. I also couldn't do a triathalon. Doing that much swimming isn't for me, and my bike so sucks I could barely do a couple of miles on it.

I guess we each find our own passion in different cardio activities. I love getting moving and seeing results. It deflates me when I don't get to go.

Sara Maria, boy that stinks having support problems. Perhaps there are some online resources with advice on where to buy support jog bras. I've always been small up there, so it's not a problem with me. Walking can be very effective too. Many people can't jog due to physical issues, such as knees, back, ankles, feet, but can still walk, walk, walk. Walk as fast as you can, as if you are very late for an appointment. If you are on the treadmill, up the angle (I forget what it's called). That's a killer! Really gets your heart rate up without all the bouncing.
