Hey All,
I joined the forum about 4 weeks ago and after reading alot of the diary's can really see the value in writing one myself.
My background:
I'm 36, 179 cm (5ft 11) and 97kg (213 pounds).
I've been maintaining this weight for about 18 months and keep thinking that the weight should just somehow magically disappear, but so far no luck. In that time I've been trying to get pregnant, but no luck with that either.
What with fertility treatments etc I've ended up a bit down on myself for overeating and being lazy!
So over the last 4 weeks I've been steppping up my excercise and now I'm getting on to the overeating thing.
Yay..... here goes nothing.
Here's the answers to the 'start a diary' questions.
1. I'm 5'11 and 213 pounds
2. Ideal weight? Not sure. About 170 pounds for a starter. I'd really like to fit the clothes that I love in my closet!
3. 4 months from now I'd like to be 198 pounds (definately under the 200 pound mark)
4. I want to lose weight mostly so that I can do the types of weekend/holiday activities I love. We kayak, hike, etc but I'm always last and puffing at the mo' I'd like to look better in my clothes and better in photos.
5. No specific event I'm aiming for.
6. Shift work really effects my eat and sleep patterns, but i'm really confident that with this forum and also a calorie counter I'm on the right track.
7. I have a weight problem because I eat too much! i.e. when I'm tired, bored, lonely etc. I find it easy to procrastinate and put off excercise
8. lifestyle changes ; eat less, excercise more
9. I found food logging very helpful to losing weight in the past. (and at one time just not eating much)
10. Lifestyle changes meant I eat more than I should. I get complacent about it too, thinking ' one little ...... won't hurt)
11. Things that haven't helped me lose weight in the past... see above really. I find the shift work really interferes with energy levels and impulse eating.
12. I am going to log food on a calorie counting website
13. I cook alot of food at home, and try not to buy much processed food.
14. We probably eat out 2-3 times a week. We get sushi alot (healthy), and sometimes go for pizza and ethnic food
15. 3 favorite foods are (can I just put EVERYTHING! I love eating ... sigh)
16. 3 favourite restaurants vietnamese, pizza, pub food
17. 3 things I can do differently.... Count the calories, plan ahead for meals, don't get too hungry
Man..... there are alot of questions.... I'll stop typing for a bit and write some more later.
I'm excited about doing this thing!
