Friday, 8:27 a.m.
Yay! It's finally Friday! The first day of a long three-day weekend! I have to say I am excited because this weekend is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous! The temp will be rising every day and by Monday we should be in the mid-80s. Considering the fact that we have not seen a warm day since the beginning of May, this is exciting news. The improvement in the weather will help. I don't like to eat when it's hot and I tend to eat a lot of fruit - especially watermelon - to cool me down.
I really had no clue what I was going to do this weekend. We normally go to Gatlinburg this time of the year but I am not about to further line the pockets of the oil companies just to go hiking in the mountains. Besides, we're going in August so that will just have to suffice. I heard last night that our apartment complex is having an official kick off summer/Memorial Day party. There will be a cookout, a live band, and of course, the tiki bar will be open beside the pool. There will be games, prizes, etc. Now I have a plan - I'm going to take the kids. We just moved into this apartment in mid-April so this is a great opportunity to meet some new people. There is a little girl that is in my daughter's class that lives somewhere in the complex so I'm hoping she will be there for Nik to pal around with. I really like living there. We have an on-site restaurant and bar attached to the clubhouse. Every Thursday they have a deck party with live music. On the weekends they have either live music or a DJ playing at the pool. We are far enough away from the clubhouse that we never hear a single noise. I like that. Anyway, I'm getting off course here . . .
I weighed in today and what I figured would happen did. I am up a pound. Not really that surprising considering how the week started and now I am in pre-TOM mode. But, I am not discouraged. I am anxious to sit down and make meal plans and exercise plans. I'll even post my plans here for extra accountability because I know my dear friends will kick me arse if I stray from my course. Some of the food that I am permitted to eat on the Core plan are things I have never heard of - and I'm kind of afraid to Google. (Seriously, WTF is
bubble and squeak 
) I am still looking forward to a ten pound loss in May, but if I don't hit my goal (probably won't) that will not slow me down. Next month, I have some tail to kick.
