AmbaLove is Tracking the Journey!

I know, I need to change it up a bit. Problem is not having access to weights. There is only so much you can do with cardio...but I can't afford a gym. My church has a free gym, but it is not open after 5pm, and I can rarely get there in time.
Check craigslist postings or freecycle postings for your area - there's always someone who bought that stuff with good intentions and now it's sitting gathering dust - and come the holidays when the relatives start heading into town, they start to get rid of the clutter...

there are also body weight exercises that youc an do - check the stickied threads in the exercise forum - or google 'em...

Come hell or high water, I will weigh 205 or less on Christmas. HOLD ME TO IT.

Pardon me, while I write down this weight and date in my food journal. haha If you really mean it, hell.. I'll keep you to it. I know if Jenna was around, she most certainly would. haha Being as you can't afford the cost of a gym membership, try purchasing either free weights or resistance bands. They're pretty cheap and hell, you can do it in the privacy of your own home. Also... for your lower body, you can do lunges, squats, donkey kicks.. (own body weight).... upperbody wise, you can do pushups.... planks... etc. I hope this can help somewhat, doll. Hope you and the H are doing well, Amber girl....

Kimberly- I could afford the gym's monthly cost, it is the ridiculous 200+ dollar "enrollment fee" that would be the problem.

Mal- I have been religiously watching craigslist in my area, so far, nothing under 350 dollars, which if I had, I would just join a gym!!

Rena, thanks for the support! Lets reach our December goals, together!

Sheryl, I do mean it. Ride my ass hard, and not just in the dirty way on TLD.

The bitter thing is that I have enrolled in and belonged to three gyms. They all closed down and left me with no gym. I have paid out 900 dollars to join gyms, not counting the monthy fees of 30 dollars. Thats just the enrollments. I am leary to do it again, you know? They all cave to the "mega gym" in our town, which is a gym I HATE. I did the trial membership there, and I hated it so much I know if I joined I wouldn't go. I loved having a gym...

Hi

Your still moving in the right direction and thats what matters!
Just over 16lb by christmas totally do-able and i will match you pound for pound (just dont do a huge loss one week i may struggle to keep up!!)
Is it 8 weeks to go? you will look fab for xmas
I have a new weigh day of wednesdays so i will update then!!
We can totally do this!

Sarah

Well....today I did not move in the right direction. I was up 1.4. However...it was kinda sorta intentional. I ate off my plan this week (on purpose) to (hopefully) jumpstart a loss this week when I get strict again. It was a last ditch effort to get the hell off this plateau, and I desperately hope it works.

And...I found a way around my gym membership issues, at least for a little bit...tell me if this is wrong or not.

Most gyms offer free trial memberships of one or two weeks. There are AT LEAST 6 gyms in my town. So...if I do a "trial" at each one it is 6-12 weeks of free workouts. Plus good research for when I actually can afford a gym. I signed up for my first free trial today, a one week trial at "Contours Express." It's similar to curves, with a weight circuit, but actually weight stacks, not hydraulics. I can already tell I don't really like it. But, I will take advantage of my week and then try something else. This isn't totally evil of me, right? I am feeling twinges of guilt, but I so desperately want to get some good work outs in, that I am ignoring the guilt, at least for now.

Honestly, I think it'll help... all the girls (Rena, Kimberly, myself, along with a few others have done so) have once the weight loss stopped. After that, things slowly started to shrink. I hope it helps you, doll.

Hell no it isn't. I see it this way... these gyms are making bank regardless. If they are offering free trials, then by all means, use the bastards. Most gyms aren't really in it to see people get healthy... it's all about money. Fuck em. Use them to your heart's content. :D

Thanks, Sheryl! I kind of thought, "Well, I am not being totally dishonest. I DO want to join a gym, and I DON'T know which one I would like best. So, really, thats what a trial is for, right? And they don't have to know if I am going to join immediately or not."

Hi from :eh:
I love that you are aiming for 200 by Christmas or so! That is a great goal. If you remain committed, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to reach it! GO FOR IT!!! Won't it feel awesome to be in those size 14 pants and 16 shirt? You are moving in the right direction; hope you're able to bust thru that plateau pronto.

Best wishes on your journey!

AHHH!!! Not 200, 205!! First Rah upped me one pound, now I've been upped five! I can't do it!!!! Just kidding, 205 I will be, even if I have to chop off an arm. Just kidding again, I think...

Don't feel bad about gym hopping. A lot of times gyms will waive the sign up fee--mine's been doing that all year in hopes of increasing membership. So be on the lookout for that.

Hi Amber!! :jump:
I agree with Sheryl and Kimberly about the gym thing, go for it. Gyms do those free trials so why not take advantage of the opportunity? I know I would. :] Don't feel guilty about it, no reason to.
I'm back, for good this time. Much easier to keep up on what's been going on after a day rather than weeks. lol.

I carved a jack-o-lantern today. Now, he better not get smashed before halloween. Last year, I put out my jack-o-lantern at 9 pm and by 7 am the next day, he was smashed. I could have killed someone for that. It better not happen again.

I ate decently well today, other than the slice of zucchini bread and the turtle frappe...but it was made with skim and no whipped cream...if that helps. My meals were good, I got 5 servings of veggies in today!

I love and yet hate carving pumpkins at the same time. I already did mine about a week and a half ago but it's already rotted. :[ I hope yours doesn't get smashed this year!! Is it a super cute buck-toothed face? :]

and the zucchini bread... I hope you didn't get that from Sheryl!!!

No, I don't accept sloppy seconds! Sheryl can keep vincenzo (wasn't that his name??)

My jack-o-lantern has no teeth, just a wobbly smile! He also has freckles. He looks friendly and personable!

haha yeah, I think that was his name. Or atleast something along those lines. :p

A friendly, personable jack-o-lantern is always good! Maybe he'll be so cute that no one will want to smash him, they'll just shower him in hugs! (okay, so I doubt they'll hug him but I can dream, can't I? :rotflmao:)

AHHH!!! Not 200, 205!! First Rah upped me one pound,

I was just getting the motivation going and going that 1 further by getting past your goal... honestly i was working out 2lb a week and couldnt remember what you originally said but hay the first bit sounds better LOL

As for the gym use them, you said you are thinking of joining soon anyway so your better off going to all in the area (above price limit or not) get the use and then you know which one you feel most comfortable in so when you join you know and in the meantime you have had a good few weeks of gym use which you didnt have to pay for

Yeah, if I surpass my goal, I'd be thrilled!! But, I tend to lose fairly consistently at 1.6 lbs a week when I am strict, so even to lose 15, I need to lose almost 2 a week. That will definately be a challenge for my slowpoke weight loss!

Wow.. you're good and yes, that was his name. We're no longer together. It was time to move on... to bananas. HA! As for the zuchinni bread... I read your journal earlier before going to the grocery store and I was suddenly fiending z bread. BAH! I'll have to put that on the back burner for the time being. haha

HA! That sounds darling! oOOOoh take a pic! As for leaving your pumpkin out... ummm yah... I didn't want to carve a pumpkin too soon for fear some little shithead would destroy it. Kids nowadays have nothing better to do. I have two "pie pumkpins" that I need to carve for tomorrow. Woohooo!

-Sheryl

I should take a pic. But I need to charge my camera batteries to make that possible...

Zucchini bread is amazing. I am trying really hard to not eat much of it!

I am hoping the fact that I am back down to my previous low is a sign that the week off helped. I am weighing in 2 days early this week, so I will only have 5 days of loss time, instead of 7, but I still really want to have lost something! I will be weighing in on wednesdays instead of fridays for a while. My dieticians office is far too busy on friday mornings and it keeps making me late for work. They said thursday and friday are really busy (people want to weigh right before they cheat on the weekend!), but the other 3 days are slower in the morning. I don't want to switch to afternoons because I would obviously weigh more.

Well, I just got through baking again...my husband wanted cookies. I made whole wheat chocolate chip cookies, except I used sundrops instead of chocolate chips. They are so good! The whole wheat flour gives them a different, almost oatmeal cookie, texture. Now I have two things in the house to avoid...and I have to bake more zucchini bread tuesday for a staff breakfast at school on halloween.
