I've been sick all week, so I did nto make it to weigh in today. I have a feeling between no exercise, nasal steroids and living on pinapple orange banana juice and ginger all for 6 days, I probably did not lose any weight this week, either.

Ah, well.

Now, for a rant. I was at the mall to pick up my ring from the jeweler and noticed something. Maurices had normal, non-stick figure manniquins in the window! That made me so happy...until I saw the sign "Now carrying sizes 16-24." I do not mind Maurices carrying plus sizes, in fact, I think that is cool...but why model "plus size" clothes on size 6 manniquins????? I thought they were finally having a normal, healthy body image for people to see. You know, size 6 clothes on a size 6 dummy, instead of a size six wrapped around and pinned up on the back of a size 2 dummy. But I was wrong. Instead they had size 16 clothes wrapped up and pinned on the back on a size 6 dummy.
The other window is still filled with the stick figures. I don't get it.

Sorry you havn't been feeling well...being sick just plain old sucks. However, you have to focus on getting better rather than weight loss when sickness arises.

As for that store... its typical. I don't think it will ever change... it really bothers me. I would rater see a size 16 mannequin wearing the size 16 clothing. Its really frustrating... and just ridiculous using a perfectly normal sized model to model plus sized clothing its just wrong!!!

Awww honey.... I'm sorry you were ill this week. It seems everyone here at WLF has been either coming down with some kind of sinus infection or even flu. Bah!

As for the Maurice ordeal... ummm yah.... I've always hated seeing shops do that kind of crap. I personally love Lane Bryant windows. They don't push the fact that it's "plus size"... if anything, it's all about fashionable clothes. Love it! Instead of having to place up a huge sign that reads "Now PLUS SIZES AVAILABLE" they should just have the "normal sized" (US 12-14), according to statistics) mannequins rocking the average sized woman clothes. (seeing a size 14 manequin would be a shock as it is..) It's really that fricking simple. It's funny that even in the mannequin world, you can't be larger than a size 6. (Unless you're a Lane Bryant mannequin) Weird......

Yeah. It was depressing to see that the poor size six mannequins are considered "plus sized."

I am starting to feel better, so that is happy news. But everything at home is falling apart (my hometown, not the home I reside in), which is depressing.

My stepmom had emergency surgery today to remove a third of her intestines. I have no idea why, that is all my dad left on my voicemail. Who taught him to leave a voicemail like that???? You have to give a person all the information.

My mom's brother is in the hospital with pnemonia and 2 collapsed lungs.

My aunt (mom's twin) SHOULD be in the hospital, but refused to be admitted. She passed out on Thursday and was taken to the hospital and her blood sugar was 560. After an insulin shot, it dropped to 60. She drank and orange juice and it went back up to 340. But she will not let them admit her to the hospital because she did not want to miss her son's homecoming game and her family's trip to Worlds of Fun on Sunday. She really needs an insulin pump installed. The doctor told her she will likely die within the week without it. We are trying to talk some sense into her, but she is not listening.

My godmother drives for UPS and has for 17 years. On Thursday, she got into a wreck in the UPS truck...with a school bus full of kids. She got all cut up, but nothing serious. The bus driver LEFT THE SCENE. There is now an investigation and if she is found even slightly at fault (shich she says she is not), she will lose her job.

Yeah, fun times. I cannot do anything about any of it...but I am still a bit stressed about it.

Hey Amberdoll,

I'm sorry to hear things on the homefront aren't being all too kind to you. Just wanted to know that if you need to rant... or just talk (I prefer ranting, because it makes me feel so much better after.. haha), then you can IM me... or you can leave me dirty messsages at my diary. ;) Sending you lots of love and hugs from the armpit of NY, honey.... :hug2::hug2::hug2:

Hey Amba,
I am sorry you are going through such a hard time with your families situations. Wow, when it rains it pours!

But I am happy you are keeping a positive attitude. Your handling it better than I would! lol You go girl!

Anyway About the manequins, I used to go into lizclaiborne for women and they have great clothing, but there manequins must have been a size four..so the clothing was draped over them and didnt look right! lol it was so ... awful .. I was mad at the company ...but there is nothing they, the staff, can do.. my sister worked there for a couple years, so we used to discuss it from time to time...

and The women modes in the Lane Bryant catalogues always used to have these thin STICK women with these baggy clothes on lol I was disgusted in that and did not shop there for years, but they have sent me catalogues over the past year and all the women are shapely just like me ...

so I am going in .. when I reach a size 14-16 in shirt size I will go in for shirs. Right now I need jeans. For a size 24, but I would rather go to Fashion Bug for pants, cause they fit me better. The shirts are ok there, So I shop at both. Now they are owned by the same company, but are keeping things the same ..thanks the heavens ..
anyway

Best wishes on everything!:)

Hey amber, hope things are going well for you and i'll keep your family in my prayers. I know how hard it is to have family sick and you can't do anything about it. I know I had to call the ambulance for my mom on sunday morning due to her having pains in her diaphram area that couldn't be helped with her meds that she was told to take when she had the pains and she was it way to much pain to stand up straight or sit down and i couldn't take her to the hospital due to having no one to watch my son. Of course by the time the paramedics got to the house her pains were starting to go away so she didn't end up going to the hospital but she does have an appt with her doc on thursday. I can't wait until they figure out what is causing these pains cause they don't happen all the time but when they do she usually ends up in the hospital for 2-5 days and she hates the hospital and Alex hates not knowing where his grandma is as he can't go in the rooms to see her due to his age and stuff. Anyways, Hope things start going good for everyone and keep up the great work on your weight loss.

Hey Amba,
Just checking to see how you are holding up.. I hope things pick up for you hun...

Best wishes hun

always

Well, I lost 2.6 lbs in the last two weeks!! Unfortunately, the happy news ends there....

My stepmom is still in the hospital, her incision became infected and they had to remove the staples. Once they did, they found she was having horrible blood clots and had to suction them out. She is now closed up temporarily with something other than staples that they can keep opening and closing for a while to make sure all the clotting is dealt with. She will be in the hospital for awhile.

My uncle is on the mend, but this was his 12th bout of pnemonia in a little under two years. He is now down to 121 lbs (at 5'8"). He really cannot take much more of this without dying. We are VERY concerned about this winter if he already getting pnemonia and it is only September. He is only 49, which is young to struggle with pnemonia this badly. He has never smoked, either. The doctors are at a loss as to why he is so susceptible.

My aunt is STILL not in the hospital, but is taking 8-14 insulin shots a day to try and regulate her blood sugar. If she does not succumb to the hospital soon, she will succumb to death instead. She has a 16 year old and a 17 year old, so she needs to get this taken care of before they lose their mom.

My godmother's accident is still "pending investigation."

And, to add to the list, my grandpa has a growth on his face that has TRIPLED in size since LAST MONDAY. And he, also, is refusing to see a doctor. He says my grandma has enough to worry about without him being in the hospital so he is refusing to go until my stepmom is out. Something that grows that quick just might not wait until he decides to go.

Anyhow, that is the saga of never ending drama.

I'm so sorry to hear about all your family's troubles. That is just horrific. No wonder you're a little stressed. I hope things improve and that everyone gets the help that they need. Stay strong, dear!:hug2::hug2::hug2::hug2::hug2:

Fall is my favorite season! Not too hot, not too cold and some lovely thunderstorms. I always wanted to get married in October....until I was actually engaged and then I didn't want to wait that long!
